I usually avoid books like this about diet but I have to admit I was impressed with this one.
-Simple and easy to read -Does not push buying costly exercise equipment. -Lots of recipes located in the back of the book. -Gives good advice about eating a balance of good food vs exercise. And does not cut out food one likes. -Some nice tips on walking like getting a dog because it forces one to walk no matter what.
I also liked the chart listing all the names that sugar can be hidden under on food packaging labels.
COVID 15 be gone! All I can say is that this book educated and worked for me me on how to eat properly in terms of overall fibre, protein, and healthy fats and portion sizes, and consumption in contributing to losing 10 pounds in 18 days. The psychology here is to get fast results to continue to be motivated over the long haul.
My feedback would be in providing more options for snacks but getting the cookbook has helped with that.
The smoothie recipes are great as well and really helped mix up my routine. I like that he helps you create a plan and gives you a sample schedule in how to achieve your step goals and eating goals. It really worked for me.
I like the premise of this book - a simple, straightforward plan, with a 15-day reset. I also enjoy that Harley is promoting protein with a fiber every time we eat (5 times a day) and a focus on getting steps in. I can get behind all this! However, I’m exhausted by being a woman who has been fed diet culture for over thirty years. (Yes, maybe I shouldn’t have bother reading it, but there it was) and I want to continue building my knowledge on developing healthy habits without completely taking over my life *cough* 75 hard *cough* marathon training *cough* for healthy results. Having said all that!! The recipes look tasty and I’m excited to dust off my blender and experiment. 🧪 👀 😋
I ended up getting some very good ideas from this book that has helped me with my weight loss journey. I'm not a big diet person but more of everything in moderation person. I liked the 5 small meals a day. It has helped me control my portions better and actually eat less because I don't have time to get hungry. This book is worth the read just if just to help figure out what works for you.
This is great book, since 2021 is the year I need to work on myself. It talks about what foods are great for you, it has exercises and recipes. This is a book I can look at daily.
Great information, it was was just a bit overwhelming. It didn't feel simple and at times it discouraged me. Depending on your goals this may be an excellent guide.
I read the book shortly after completing my covid-19 related quarantine in Hong Kong, confined in a 100sqft hotel room. I had put on 7kg over the course of a few weeks due to physical inactivity. I wanted to find the best way to change course and get fit. I started sipping some soups and smoothies, choosing "grazing" over "gorging", and walking at least 10,000 steps a day and 5 mins of strength exercise per day. The results were undeniable. My fat % dropped week after week all the while keeping a balanced nutrition. The book can be read in a day, because half of it is a collection of recipes.
If, like me, you were not keen to adopt demanding and restrictive diets like keto, paleo, intermittent fasting to name a few, then this book is for you. It works.
Already used several of the recipes in this book for added health benefits. Enjoyed going through this book and the philosophies behind the various aspects. While I'm not necessarily looking to just lose weight but maintain overall health, this book is a good resource to help either jumpstart your fitness journey or keep you on track and provide some new recipes and ideas to incorporate. Anyone can benefit from the insights presented in this book!
