A first kiss at a party: that kiss haunts me to this day, no kiss after that has ever made me feel anything comparable.
But It happened during a party game, the
lights were turned off, so I have no idea who kissed me.

That summer, I fell for two amazing boys: Chase and Reid.
Everything fell apart when they became my stepbrothers and things between us changed.
Our friendship ended and was replaced by indifference and distance.

Three years later I’m back in Star Cove and so are Chase and Reid with their two hot and friendly best friends Bryce and Parker. This is the summer before college and I’m stuck in the past, between my forbidden stepbrothers, the boy I’m dating and a kiss that’s lost forever.

Warning: this book is part of a trilogy and ends in a cliffhanger. This is a why choose story where the heroine won’t have to choose between her different love interests and has sexual scenes, swearing and mild violence. Suitable only for readers aged 18+

Simply could not finish this book. It felt very immature to me, and I couldn’t force myself to like any of the characters, which sucked because i LOVE stepbrother romance.

FMC was dull and had no back bone. She was written in a way where you could tell she was supposed to be strong(?) but it just fell flat for me. she was super whiney and had a very boring & flat personality.

the stepbrothers were just assholes. treated her like crap just because they’re in love with her and can’t be with her? such bullshit. they’re also supposed to almost be seniors in college?? this does NOT match their attitude at all, and is another reason that their behavior is unacceptable. they acted/ read more as like 17 year old guys.

even her bestfriend was annoying, no support for the main character and just super in your face. i guess she was supposed to be like supportive of her in the way where she wants what’s best for her? but to me she was lacking that whole i’m your best friend, and i care about your feelings’ and was more in think this is what you should do, and if you don’t do it, you’re an idiot.’

Bryce could be redeemable, since he stood up for her to chase and told him it wasn’t ok to treat the h that way, but from what i read, he was all talk, no action. simply a yes man to the others.

Again, i DNF so maybe it gets better, but it’s rare that i actually dislike a book enough to leave it halfway through, and it’s even more rare that i leave a bad review because i appreciate the authors process and effort. but this was just... bad.

but i mean, if you love sexism, jerk H’s who have barely any redeemable qualities and a book that is NA but reads as YA, go for it i guess

All the angst!

The author weaves a very skilful web of desire, deceptions and roadblocks to the characters’ happiness. I was in knots through the last half of the book as the web tightened around the six like a noose. So much angst! Off to read the next book in the series!
Highly recommended.

Now this is what I am talking about!! Forbidden by Melissa Adams was freaking amazing!! Loved every second of it. But be warned, you are not going to want to put down you kindle. I was hooked on the scenes with Kayla and her step brothers was addicting. There is so much there. They are friends and then not. Almost to the point of being very mean to each other.

So much dynamic with the friends and how they treat Kayla. Just the whole plot itself was catching my eye. The characters and how they are written, just drew me in more.

So I would highly recommend this beginning of the Perfect for Them series. Can I also give a shout out to the cover!!! I mean wow!!

This book is HOTTT!! I loved Forbidden. This book has that forbidden taboo step brother romance and then throw into the mix their two hot best friends you have a HOTT story. Kaya meets to cute guys the summer of her 15th birthday that she is totally smitten with. But who knew her mom was going to meet her next forever that will change her and Kaya's life forever. Chase and Reid are twins and best friends and they both instantly fall for Kaya. Things change when their father and Kaya's mother plan to get married and the pining they had for each other has to come to a halt. This book intrigued me from the beginning. The bullying, the angst, this book has it all and I can't wait for Illicit to come out because I need to know what's going to happen next. Does Parker and Bryce find out the truth? Will Reid and Chase finally get their crap together and go for what they want? How is Kaya going to do her first year of College? I can't wait for more of this group!

Wow! I love stepbrother romance books. This book is no different in that regard but I know that some of the events are from actual true stories and that makes this book fantastic. So what do you do in a summer where your crushes who are actually your stepbrothers come home for the summer. And they've asked their two best friends to tag along?
Also there is a guy from a previous summer and she doesn't like the guy but he doesn't take no for an answer. Well you make a pact with the two friends and they help out. This book leaves you wanting more. Thank you Melissa for writing this book!

Did not finish

Way to much page filler fluff for my taste. The story gets lost in all the pages of inner dialogue. I absolutely hate this in books. I see potential however, if the author redid the book and removed all the extra unnecessary filler. I liked the idea of the story, just not enough to complete it.

a nice surprise!

I’m head over heels for these boys and while the dialogue and relationship dynamics feel a bit rushed and not quite developed as I’d want, the plot was exciting and the chemistry between them leaps off the pages!

This book was good. I liked most of the characters though some of their decision making and choices frustrated me. I liked that Kaya was sweet but I didn't enjoy how much she tolerated the twins treatment without standing up for herself (most of the time). I do like a good alphahole but I wasn't a fan of Chase (though I expect that will change in the subsequent books). I did like all of the other characters, well, except for the villain(s?). This author is getting better with each book at making her characters feel age and gender appropriate. There were only a couple of typos that I noticed and if there were any british colloquialisms for these Californians, I didn't catch them. I believe that many RH lovers will enjoy this story.

Slow burn

Woah. This book had some fun twists and turns. At the beginning it seems that Kaya’s step brothers are into her but are masking their feeling with contempt for her, they’re really mean. However as the story goes on, we find that there were many misunderstandings that made Kaya out to be cold and her stepbrothers responded in kind. There are a lot of reasons for them to stay away from each other...but are they the right ones?

I’m so excited for the next book! There isn’t a cliffhanger in this book but the characters do not have a happy ever after...yet.

This book is some how sweet, hot and full of mystery all in one package. When Maya was younger she developed a crush on these two boys who ended up becoming her stepbrothers. That same summer she got a kiss at a party that she would use to judge all boys by for years.
Imagine her surprise when her stepbrothers finally come back and bring their best friends to visit. She starts to have feelings for the friends, has a nasty experience with a boy she thought was a friend. I can't wait to see what happens at college

Contemporary Reverse Harem Romance

I couldn't put this book down. I loved every moment of it. It was so romantic. A romcom in book form. I cheered when Marc got his beat down. I can't wait to see where this takes us next. looking forward to book 2.

Suprising and intriguing

When I set out to read Forbidden, I wasnt sure if I'd like it due to the step sibling trope. I was genuinely surprised to find that the fact that Kaya and her stepbrothers are in love did not wierd me out. In fact, I found much of Laya's innocence endearing, and the fact that her 'lovers' are so patient with her. Melissa Adams made this such an amazing read with the way she gives us different POVs. I loved reading Forbidden and reccomend reading this!

I loved this book. The struggle of wanting to be with someone you can’t comes across really well. I also like how it shows people can take things the wrong way and can’t seem to let go. The relationship between Kaya, Bryce, and Parker is great. I can’t wait to read the next one.

A great story from start to finish, so many layers to this story that will have your head spinning, Melissa Adams always has a way of having you guessing from the start and will leave you wanting more while making you hot for the guys she writes about. I can't wait to start the next installment as I know it's going to be a good one.

This wasn’t my favorite book but it wasn’t awful. I like the plot and I like that they all admitted to their feeling eventually. I didn’t like that there was a lot of lying and hurt feelings and nasty rumors. I hated how the twins treated her because they were too scared to say something to her. I love that they effectively handled Marc in the end. I’ll probably read the next book but I’m not sure yet.

the title should be called “gaslight”

I really wanted to like this but the style of writing needs some work. It’s a lot of tell and not show. There’s constant re-hashing about how this girl feels about every guy she’s ever had feelings for. It is said in so many different ways and then repeated again a few more times for measure and then stated again when she talks to the guys. I’m so sick of hearing about her “mystery kiss” cue all the eye roll emojis. There’s a decent amount of grammatical errors and then some fact check errors (it’s a five star Michelin restaurant not one that’s the lowest accolade you can get and while it’s nothing to sneeze at, if you the writer are trying to sell a super posh, expensive, yacht country club experience that’s not what you want to say).

My biggest issue is that the female lead is basically gaslit throughout. Made to feel like her feelings are not valid, that she can’t make choices, and ect. It got really crappy. And unrealistic. She goes from not wanting to do anything with anyone because no one can compare to the mystery kiss, to ready to jump into bed from a hot kiss with her step brother’s friend. It doesn’t make a ton of sense with the way this character is built up. Then she has sex and it’s really anticlimactic. As I read the scene I was like… what? There was nothing hot about it. But you know as the reader I’m being told that it was “making love” 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄. Just what.. if I started off with zero stars I’d give it 1/2 just for the cover, because that is the only thing going on for this book. It really needs a rewrite.

I have to be honest while I loved this book and can’t wait for the next there are two big things I wasn’t happy about. Kaya’s supposed best friend and her mother.

In the beginning we are made to feel like they are going to be these two incredible supportive women in Kaya’s life. Unfortunately that didn’t hold true. From the best friend becoming almost cruel at one point to her own mother essentially calling Kaya a tease, their characters left MUCH to be desired considering what their roles were supposed to be. I truly hope they both redeem themselves later on in this series because this was incredibly disappointing for me.

I loved loved loved Kaya’s harem!! This is my first stepbrother reverse harem and OMG I was not prepared! Reid and Chase are absolutely yummy, jerks, but yummy, throw in their two hot best friends and you have one delicious forbidden romance! Oh, did I mention that Reid and Chase are TWINS!? Holy hotness, am I right?!? I have to say tho I think Bryce might be my favorite, he’s just so swoon worthy and he absolutely adores Kaya which makes a hopeless romantic’s heart pitter patter. Cannot wait to see how these relationships will develop in book two!

This book was absolutely amazing! I have never read a stepbrothers book before and honestly was a little hesitant. But I read it and instantly fell in love! I had a hard time putting it down. The relationship or should I say “non” relationship between Kaya and her stepbrothers was well written. It was interesting to see hoe there relationship went from friendly to almost hostile with each other. Oh and the Mark thing perfect conflict for this book. The Twins two best friends were great too. I loved how they interact with Kaya and stand up for her. Needless to say I need more and can’t wait for the next book!
