A savage killer is stalking the women of Willow Bay and it seems as though he is escalating in his brutality.

Two of the first traumatized victims are staying at the Mercy Harbor shelter under Eden's care. A third victim wasn't so lucky ... she died during her attack. As Eden and Detective Nessa Ainsley question the victims, they know the women are not telling all they know.

An enterprising reporter who has been following these crimes, suddenly disappears. Eden also finds a link to a case from several years earlier, killed in the same manner as the recent crimes.

Once again, Eden finds herself in the target of a serial killer .. one who may be a lot closer than anyone thinks.

This is a terrific series featuring some really great characters returning in a well written crime fiction. Several new characters make a first appearance. I've always been fond of small town crimes ... the residents are quirky in some cases, but all are interesting in their on way.

Although 4th in the series, this can be read as a stand alone, but I highly recommend starting at the beginning to gather up all those nuggets that make this an excellent reading adventure.

Many thanks to the author / BookSirens for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I have been enjoying the Mercy Harbor Series by Melinda Woodhall and Book #4 was as good as the others. We had our mystery element with a stalker who seems to be killing females whom he calls "liars" as they are females who are willing to step out on their prospective partners/ husbands and cheat. They are being targeted on a dating site that was a bit like Tinder which of course has IRL has had several murders connected to matches, one of the most famous in New Zealand is the Grace Milane case. During this book, we also read as Eden and Leo are busy preparing their nuptials and wedding as Eden finally said yes to Leo when he popped the question at the end of Book #3. However, when murders start occurring and again Eden and Reggie get involved as a couple of the shelter clients managed to escape from the killer and now in fear of their lives. What will happen though when it turns that the killer is close to everyone and that it soon will uncover a major conspiracy and cover-up that has been years in the hiding. The other storyline running through the book is who will be made chief after the old chief Kramer was arrested? Will Nessa be the first-ever female chief or are there still men who want the job to be part of an "old boys club"? Girls Who Lie was another great mystery by Melinda Woodhall which had you guessing till the end who the "real killer" was. I am now looking forward to trying Melinda Woodhall's other series Veronica Lee as if it's as good as the Mercy Harbor series, then I know I will enjoy it just as much.

Secret fling , Lonely Guy 10 and "you lied" are phrases that should bring fear into the heats of all the women living in Willow Bay, " you lied were to be the last words that Jade Castillo would hear.

This is the fourth book in the Mercy Harbour series, I have read and loved them all. Although each book is a standalone, I would sincerely advise yo to start at the beginning and get to love the characters.

Eden Winthrop founded and runs the Mercy Harbour foundation, a refuge for abused women, she is happily planning her wedding to Handsome defence lawyer, Leo Steele which is to take place the following Saturday.

A grizzly murder brings Eden back to earth, surely it couldn't be happening again. The body count mounts, all with the same hideous injuries, surly it couldn't be linked to a murder committed five years ago with the same MO and for which a man is serving life imprisonment.

Surely there aren't more bent police in Willow bay ? Why are the women who survived terrified of speaking to the police ? What is the common denominator ?

I am a big fan of Melinda Woodhall and, like all her other books, this one has you hooked from the first page. There are so many suspects, so many red herrings, so many twists and turns that you will be speculating until the finish. This story contains murder with sexual connections, kidnapping, duplicity in high places, shady cyber activity , gentle romance and of course great characters. I loved this book and I can highly recommend it.

I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest , voluntary review which is what I have given.

Mercy Harbor Thriller book #4

“Girls Who Lie” is another excellent story that can be read on its own even if it is part of a series we have enough background information to fit right in and not wonder if we missed something. This series is definitely gripping and highly addictive.

Who Will Be the Next Girl to Die?

A brutal killer stalks the women of Willow Bay and when a young reporter uncovers disturbing clues to the killer’s identity she becomes one of his subjects….more women are being attacked: some hiding in their home, others taking refuge at Mercy Harbor (Eden Winthrop shelter) and some never made it home. The women in this town are scared stiff and urge Detective Nessa Ainsley to track down the sadistic “Willow Bay Stalker” before he strikes again. The hunt is on…and be prepare to flip pages rapidly…high intensity throughout.

Once more Melinda Woodhall brought us a very suspenseful ride from the opening pages we are kept guessing trying to discover who the killer may be. We have multiple “whodunits” to pick from but are attention is slowly directed towards a dating app. Who is lurking and may be luring these women…. The author pulls one red herring after the other to derail us and to keep us engrossed all through. Indeed I was totally in left field with my choice and had the wrong killer all along….a sure sign the author knows how to pen an exciting mystery.

As well as new players we have our beloved recurring characters to captivate us and wedding bells to wrap up everything beautifully. Awe.

Awesome story

The fourth book in the series sees Eden and Leo about to tie the knot, whilst Det Nessa Ainsley is made interim Chief of Police, but her first case as the Chief involves a serial attacker. Several women have been violently attacked but they have all survived until now, now there is a murder victim & Nessa is concerned that the killer won't stop.

This story is an interesting one which revolves around a dating app for 'discreet encounters' and/or extramarital affairs. It also introduces Veronica Lee, the main character in a spin-off series of books by the same author. I actually liked Veronica, she seemed a bit more real than sometimes-too-good-to-be-true Eden. It's a good but undemanding read as there are no big reveals which the reader isn't already expecting. I did feel a bit irritated about leaving the wife of the cheating husband apparently oblivious to what he was doing, seems a little unfair for her. 3.5 stars (rounded up to 4)

Another 5-star twisting thriller from Melinda Woodhall! Was so excited to see there was another book in this series. Read it In 2 days and loved it just as much as I had the others. Several intense new characters were introduced and I was glad that my favorite characters from the previous books were back as well! I recommend this whole series to anyone that likes thrillers with heart and suspense.

Best book of the series yet! I have read them in order but I believe it is possible to read them independently. Fast moving mystery, thriller. The characters are realistic and conversational. It will keep you guessing right up to the end. Jacket cover gives adequate description so no book report here. Just read and enjoy.

I received this book as a complimentary copy for an unbiased review. The opinions expressed are my own. Thanks to the author, publisher, and BookSirens for the ARC.

Start to finish, an incredible story!
All the characters are so well written I was drawn into the book from page one, and I didn't want the book to end. I became heavily invested (read seriously nosy) even after all the mysteries were solved, and just wanted the story to continue. First book I've read in the series, but I feel like I need to read them all now.. Enquiring minds need to know 😉
A new author to me, I will definitely be looking at more of her books

Overall 4.5*
Even though this is the fourth book in the series, it does easily read as a standalone although in this book we are not really introduced to the main character of Eden Winthrop of the Mercy Harbor refuge for abused women until a quarter of the way through as she is in the background preparing for her wedding to the handsome lawyer Leo. However the town has been subjected the brutal killing of a young woman and there are features of the murder which are similar to the abuse of two recent women to the refuge. Added to that Eden finds out that another murder, where the husband was convicted, is alike too. Her good friend Nessa has been recently temporarily been promoted to chief of police, much to the annoyance of some of the rest of the town elders who are struggling to hold onto their "old boys network". And just when you think you might know who it is, you are sent down another pathway.
This is another great story from Melinda although for me personally ,having read the other 3, it reminds of a consolidation story, pulling together parts from the previous stories and leading up to the marriage of Eden and Leo (which may or may not go ahead!). I would certainly recommend reading this as well as the other 3 if you haven't read them yet!

Fantastic Fourth Book in Series

Fourth book in the series does not disappoint. All the great characters are back plus a couple of new interesting residents of Willow Bay. I thought I knew the villain for sure this time but again a nice twist to the story. Hope there is a fifth book soon. Definitely recommend.

As Nessa is trying to win back the hearts of Willow Bay’s residents and ensure their safety, a stalker has preyed on two victims who have suffered vicious wounds that have ended in surgery to repair. In true Eden fashion, she has found herself trying to help solve the case and with the help of a young reporter and many others, new evidence is revealed making them all realize that the stalker might actually be a serial killer who claimed his first victim years ago. I had my suspicions on who the stalker/killer might be and despite knowing who it might be in the back of mind, I was still surprised. The reasoning behind the stalker/killer’s actions was disturbing to say the least. How one event in someone’s life could lead to a string of events that resulted in battered victims and homicides. The additional homicide near the end was a real shocker. Never saw that coming so well played Melinda! The city council is consisted of a group of older men, who see things in black and white and believe that men are the superior race. I love how Nessa stands her ground and is appointed as the interim chief of police! She is the perfect person for the position and I wish we could see how she does in her role. Fingers crossed the other series has her in it! As the final book in the series, this book ended on a good note with the HEA and cliffhanger, but I wish there was an epilogue or more to the book. I am left wondering what is going to happen to everyone and the pending relationships that are forming in this book. Sad to say goodbye to this group of characters I have grown to like and get to know, but happy that it ended the way that it did. I recommend reading it after the other books even though it can be read as a standalone.

I received an ARC copy of this book and I am voluntarily sharing my thoughts on it.

Two young women in Willow Bay have been brutally attacked, and though Detective Nessa Ainsley is hard at work on the case, a third woman is attacked and murdered. One of the women is essentially in hiding at her home, while the second has taken refuge at Mercy Harbor, Eden Winthrop’s shelter for battered women. Sabrina West, an investigative reporter for a local news station, is determined to advance her career by solving the case before the police do, and is exploring a dangerous line of questioning in order to get the story. Her roommate and best friend, Veronica Lee, is tired of being nothing more than Channel Ten’s weather girl, and dreams of a successful career and a happy life while watching Sabrina’s star rise.

Detective Nessa Ainsley, now acting Chief of Police, is a caring and confident woman who wants nothing more than to make the community of Willow Bay safe for its residents. The previous books in this series shed light on the long-time corruption that Nessa is fighting against, and this one exposes another link in that chain. Eden is preparing for her wedding to Leo, former Detective Pete Barker has opened a private investigating agency with Frankie, and the new characters fit seamlessly in with the existing residents of Willow Bay. I have to admit that I did not figure out who the Willow Bay Stalker actually was, and was surprised at the outcome. Once again, Melinda Woodhall has delivered an exciting and suspenseful story about the residents of Willow Bay.

My thanks to BookSirens and to the publisher and author for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story.

This the 4th book of the Mercy Harbour series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but is best read in sequence of the series, so that the character development, history and backgrounds are enjoyed and better understood. In terms of character development, we have seen true positive progression from the first book, The River Girls, which as a reader has been satisfying to go on that journey with each of the characters.

The story itself is another fast paced page turner as the team try to catch a serial killer who is targeting women through a dating App. It is Ashley Madison meets serial killer’s hunting ground. As the surviving victims have reasons to conceal what they know about the perpetrator, it takes all of the skills of the Willow Bay Sleuths to unravel the clues to stop more women being maimed and killed. We meet a few new characters in this story that may become part of the series at a future date, but if not they were worthy additions to the story. This was also a satisfying 4th book in that this story concludes on a positive note for the main characters, and sometimes after reading a crime fiction, that’s exactly what the reader needs.

Many thanks to the author / Booksirens for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the fourth book in the Mercy Harbor series.

In this book a a brutal killer is stalking the women of the town. 2 women have been attacked and are dealing with the trauma but as two other women are attacked and murdered, have the two living victims told the police everything?

Eden is once again pulled into the search of a serial killer when a reporter goes missing. Eden once again works closely with Acting Chief of Police Nessa Ainsley to uncover the disturbing clues to the killer's identity, revealing another connection to the town's inner circle.

I really enjoyed this instalment in the series. It's full of suspense and twists. I like how the author drops little clues or sayings that make you think you know who the killer is but then there's a twist.

I like the characters and I'm looking forward to getting to know more of the stories for the detectives and Barker and Frankie. Frankie is really growing on me and his true personality is starting to shine through as he finds his way in the world.

Can't wait for the next book in the series.

Girls Who Lie by Melinda Woodhall has the Mercy Harbor police department working overtime to find a perpetrator who viciously beats his victims, now he has gone too far and murdered his latest one. Eden has given shelter to two of them who are extremely traumatized. Detective Ainsley who has recently been named interim Chief of Police needs their cooperation to find a connection between the victims so they can get a lead on the Willow Bay Stalker but they are too frightened to help. Now it is feared the stalker has struck again when Channel 10's news reporter disappears from the parking lot leaving behind her purse and telephone. It is believed one of the victims knows who is committing these atrocious crimes and it is now more important than ever to get her to speak up and give them the chance to find the reporter alive.

This book had a well written plot with plenty of twists. The characters from previous Mercy Harbor books were all here and we became better acquainted with some characters who will be more front and center in Mrs. Woodhall's next series. I enjoyed the mystery.

I received an ARC of this book which in no way influenced my opinion which is voluntarily given.

Great ending to a brilliant series.

There were so many red herrings in this book, where the author tried to implicate someone as being the killer and it was brilliantly done.

Excellent character development and exciting reading.

This book was a bit slower than the others, the author was definitely on a slower-burn than usual in this book, however there was so much going on behind the scenes that was being built up, there was also an interesting twist that had me gasping in surprise.

I would have liked to know a little bit more about why as I don't think that was covered as the author usually does, and the end of the book felt almost a bit rushed.

Hence, why this is the first book in the series that I have given a four star rating to.

All in all, it was a great ending and a good read. Nicely wrapped up.

When I see a new book from Melinda Woodhall I know I won't be disappointed. This book has all the necessary requirements for a thrilling story: good old boys that are generally corrupt and want to keep the status quo, strong women that don't give up, and the introduction of new good men.

This is a town that is working on getting rid of the bad seeds as well as improving it's image. Luckily enough with Nessa as the new Chief the police department is heading in the right direction. Eden and Leo are days away from getting married when a women has been found tortured and murdered. There are several other women that were spared from murder but tortured just the same and are not talking. It will take a community to help the women stand up and finally reveal what they know in order to solve the crime.

Have you ever been tempted to try out a dating app on a website knowing the dangers or who really lurks behind the pictures?
A new app called Secret Fling gave people the opportunity to cheat on their spouses. Very confidential.
Several women have tried the app. Some end up dead while others were left beaten and left traumatic over the experience. Afraid their killer would come back and finish the job if they revealed his identity.
As more women began dropping like flies it's only a matter of time before he finds his next victim.
The community is living in fear as Detective Nessa and the police struggle to find the serial killer who leaves no evidence behind.
Absolutely love this series!! Highly recommend!!

This is the 4th book that I have read in the Mercy Harbor series. I have really enjoyed the series so far, however I felt that this book was just ok for me. It seems like there is a formula that is being followed when it comes to who the bad guy is. In this one, it was really a forced issue that it was one man when it was completely obvious that it is not if you have read the other books. The plot just seemed obvious overall and the ending just seemed really rushed and quick after the author spent all of this time building up the relationship. The writing quality elevates the plot issues somewhat. I feel that this author is quite talented. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is book 4 of the Mercy Harbor Thriller series. A violent killer is stalking the women of Willow Bay and it’s up to Detective Nessa Ainsley to catch them before anybody else gets hurt.
The Willow Bay Stalker as they’re now know has brutally attacked two women, who are terrified to talk about what happened and who hurt them. Now a woman has been found murdered and the injuries match those of the two women survivors.
A young reporter is determined to find out who the stalker is, will she become his next target?
Amongst all this terror poor Eden Winthrop and Leo Steele are trying to get married, will they manage to tie the knot?
This is areal page turner of a thriller, which will keep you guessing till the end.

If real life hadn't gotten in my way I would have devoured the whole thing in one sitting. Interesting relationships form, come to light, end, and even become rocky as police, private detectives, and friends try to understand who this new killer is, and stop the increasing the body count. There's a nice set up for the next book. I can't wait to see how Mercy Harbor reacts and recovers from the problems and revelations from the first 4 books.

Make sure to keep your phone charged and with you as you join them in this mystery and the rest, hopefully, to come.

Girls Who Lie by Melinda Woodhall is the 4th book in the Mercy Harbor Thriller series. I have read many of this authors books and all are heart pounding thrillers that are hard to put down. This one continues the story of Willow Bay with all the usual characters. It is great to see all of them and learn more about their lives. This is a fast-paced psychological thriller about a serial killer. This can be read as a standalone, but it’s so much better to read them all, not just this series, but all her books to learn the background of all her characters. This has been such an exciting series and this 4th is no exception. Melinda Woodhall takes us on another thrilling ride in pursuit of a savage stalker who takes his pleasure in vicious attacks of young women. This is the final (cry) book of the Mercy Harbor series (I believe) and I would highly recommend that you read all of them. You will never be disappointed in a Melinda Woodhall book and this one is spectacular. I am getting greedy with this author's writings and just want more, more , more.

I have enjoyed previous books in this series and was not disappointed in this one. The storyline is well developed and the mystery well plotted.

Eden and Leo are days away from their wedding but there is a pall hanging over the town. Women are being brutally attacked. When another woman is attacked and this time killed, the pressure on the police increases and the fledgling PI agency that Barker and Frankie are hired by one of the women’s husband to solve the case.

Another amazing read, these keep getting better with character development and the story line. Again the story line was believable and not far fetched. But still do not want to live in this local - far too dangerous.

in hindsight I really wished I had read this series before the Veronica Lake series as these books set up however it was not a deal breaker.

If you can please read books from this author you wont regret it.

Girls Who Lie is the fourth book in the Mercy Harbor Thriller series. I have enjoyed this series very much. I strongly suggest beginning with the first book, because the lives of the characters build from one book to another and there are references to previous solutions to crimes from one book to the next. There’s action and surprises in each book. The characters that we would call “good guys (& gals) are interesting. I think each book contains a solid mystery and I recommend them to you.
