These are all recipes from Josie’s books and I am glad that they are finally all together in a dedicated recipe book. There are a lot of delicious desserts packed into this book; not as many main dishes as I would have liked. I especially liked the recipes for Traditional Irish Cawl Stew, since my family likes stews and the recipe for Irish Brown Bread. Once the coronavirus stay-at-home orders are lifted I will be able to get ingredients for some of the other recipes that I want to try. The dessert recipes are going to be a hit for the holidays! I received a review copy but this is my honest, voluntary opinion.
This is a book filled with the recipes from her books and each one lists which book it came from.
I found so many that I'm very excited to try, one of them is called Nancy's Caramels. I Love how they're clear and precise instructions, so anyone can follow them. This recipe book is amazing!
Recipes from the Heart by Josie Riviera This book starts out with a dedication page and praise and awards from the author. Introduction talks about magic of sweet meals. Each recipe starts with a title and book it appears in along with a medium size photo. Tips before the ingredients are listed along with directions. Listing of books the recipes appears in along with their front covers. Although I have read all the books it's really cool to have all the recipes in one location. There is NO nutritional information. Valentine meatloaf would be my choice to make because it's the whole meal. Acknowledgements and about the author are included at the end of the book. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end. I received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion. A KEEPER!
I was thrilled to learn that Josie Riviera had compiled the delicious looking recipes from her books into a single volume. What fun it was when my paperback copy arrived! Coffee lovers should find her Chocolate-Coffee fudge delightful. Ms. Riviera includes some international flavor by including a family recipe for an Italian Cheesecake Cassata, Irish Scones (shared with her by someone in Ireland), and other treats. I am one of those strange people who like to read cookbooks more than I like to cook, but the Baked Apples, Rob’s Surprise Muffins, and Chocolate-Covered Strawberries sure look tempting.
If you are looking for something new and different for your family and friends to enjoy, you should find this a perfect addition to your cookbook shelf.
Ok. I admit it. I am a cookbook hoarder. I love reading cookbooks for not only just the recipes but often times the stories behind them or ideas to build a dish to my liking. However, when a favorite author combines their stories with recipes that makes the book even more inviting and special. Josie Riviera includes a recipe in each of her stories. These come from both family and friends and readers. I love the diversity of each of the recipes and plan to try many. Although I may skip the Medieval hedgehog and Scottish Haggis but the Chocolate Coffee Fudge and bread recipes sound Yum! I received a copy from the author but had purchased a copy for my collection as well. This review is completely my own.
A delicious diverse collection of recipes from Josie Riviera’s books. Each recipe includes ingredients, directions, and the book with a quote. The diverse collection includes desserts, main course, holiday, and international recipes. Some familiar recipes with a unique touch: Grandma Gloria’s Cheesecake Cassata, Dorothy’s Pecan Pie, Amy’s Peanut Butter Cups and Butterball Cookies. A family favorite from Sweet Peppermint Kisses is to make an easy Gingerbread House. Hedgehogs are unique pets, not sure I want to prepare a Medieval dish.
I'm so glad Ms. Riviera compiled all the wonderful recipes from her books in one place. This is such a great collection of recipes from main dishes to desserts. Chocolate Coffee Fudge and Amy's Peanut Butter Cups are my favorites. I haven't tried them all yet, but they all look tempting and I certainly plan on trying them. I like that she connects them back to the books they are from, too. Thanks so much, Ms. Riviera, for this great recipe book! I received an advance copy of this book from the author and am I voluntarily writing my honest review.
I was so happy that Josie Riviera put her wonderful recipes from her books together in one book! I had been taking pictures of them so I would have them handy. I love the Chocolate Coffee Fudge and I will soon be trying Grandma Gloria’s Cheesecake Cassata! I will probably try most of them! I received an advance copy of this book from the author and I voluntarily wrote an honest review. I also purchased a paperback copy for my ease in following the recipes!
Totally delighted that Josie has compiled a recipe book with all the recipes from her books. Not only that but she tells which book the recipe is from with a small quote. Can’t wait to try some of them. I already know that the Chocolate Coffee Fudge is a crowd pleaser around my house, plus being a favorite of the teachers where my daughter teaches.
Recipes from the Heart was a great read by Josie Riviera. Every one of Josie's books has a recipe that was submitted by a reader, her mother, grandmother, or friends in Ireland. She has now added all those recipes and more into this one book. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.
Many times I have read books and the characters will be cooking or baking delicious sounding food. Ms. Riveria now has all the recipes included in her books in one place—simple and delicious.
If you like Traditional recipes or not. Old ones that you have forgotten or New ones this book contains them all. Author Josie has put together this cookbook of recipes from each of her stories all rolled and wrapped into one book. Don't forget to get your copy and indulge in these sweet or exquisite recipes.
Great recipes. I’ve made two of the recipes. The others I don’t have the ingredients on hand to try, because of Coronavirus. Once we can spend time in a store again, I’ll be making all but one!!
