What's a woman to do when a psychotic killer has targeted her as the ultimate prize?
When FBI Special Agent Noah Roth recruited Lucy from a psych ward, he didn’t think she was crazy. She was something much more dangerous: An accomplished stalker. And those skills will be handy when it’s time to get back to basics.
Lucy’s current prey, a psychotic killer who left a terrifying blood bond in her mind, is hunting too close to home. Lucy knows there is only one way to get him out. Taking his life would make Lucy normal again, as normal as can be expected, but would killing her prey leave her whole again? She’s a government experiment gone wrong. She’s screwed with only one way out. She needs to kill a killer to eliminate his memories from her head. Not that she will… but she might. Maybe.
This is book six of the Fractured Mind series and with each novel that passes, the series keeps getting better and better. Each book has the same cast of misfit characters with different antagonists and plots, so I recommend starting with the first book, Stalked Justice, to get the groundwork of how all of these people came together and do what they do.
In this story, Dr. Lucy Bray is tracking down a serial killer who is big wig and the last person anyone would ever suspect of doing something like this. Lucy is guided by spirits of the dead, but can also get inside the mind of a killer by touching the blood on something that either the killer or the victim has left behind. She has the blood of three different people coursing through her veins due to a blood transfusion she received when she was in accident. It just so happens that one the donors was the serial killer in this book and that gives her a whole new perspective. Not only is she able to watch him torture and kill his victims, she's now on his radar and he isn't going to stop until he gets her. In addition to that, she gets some news about her mental health that I hope works out in the next book.
Ford Rain. Oh, what I wouldn't do for a man like him. I don't want to say too much about him other than he is Lucy's love interest and he plays a major part in this book. I had to laugh when Lucy said to him, "You didn't steal this, did you?" She was teasing, of course, but Ford is thief by trade, although he's a gentleman all the way. There's no doubt in my mind that he's deeply in love with Lucy, especially after reading this story. It melted my heart and I fell in love with him, too. He's the perfect hero.
This is a great book with likable/lovable characters, an action-packed plot, and a twist at the end. I especially like the tone of Lucy with her laid back attitude and dialogue. Even in the face of danger, she's still sharp and witty. Needless to say, it was easy to get involved with the whole thing. Once I started, I didn't want to stop until the end.
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
*I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.
This one was intriguing and fast paced throughout, with a check of a surprise at the end. I cannot wait for the next book. I love Lucy and Ford, soon good together. Sam is the best "brother" she could ask for and I love their bond. In this book, it picks up where the other left off. Lucy is seeing a very powerful man committing murder. She is also now seeing ghosts. While trying to draw the murderer out, she did too good of a job. She is squarely in his sights while he plays with her. Highly recommend. Series needs to be read on order to get full idea of relationships and Lucy's abilities, but can be a stand alone. Told from Lucy's perspective.
The Fractured Minds series gets better with every new story told! Dr. Lucy Bray has connections in her mind that are result of a military experiment gone wrong. In Broken Justice, the team is after a serial killer who thinks he’s too intelligent to be caught. Lucy pokes the bear really hard to bring him to her. This book is the best to date ! It could be read as a stand-alone novel, but it works best in order of the series.
As with all of the books I’ve read by KA, I have enjoyed the unique story telling ability she has to draw on to describe her plot and characters. I also appreciate how good her proofreaders are. It is so enjoyable to read an author who cares about her finished product.
There are still many errors in this book and that is still annoying. I hope some of the characters get their own stories because the sisters in Glendale need a series. Six down, one to go.
Wonderful creative characters, the main characters are 2 dimensional, the secondary characters are one dimension. Storyline is interesting and entertaining.
