From New York Times bestselling author/illustrator team Kimberly and James Dean comes a new I Can Read story featuring everyone’s favorite kitty, Pete the Kitty!
Pete the Kitty is excited to build his very own go-cart. But things don’t go as planned. Turns out, his go-cart is missing a few important things. Thankfully, Bob and Gus are there to help Pete out!
Beginning readers will love reading about Pete the Kitty’s fun go-cart adventure! My First I Can Read books are perfect for shared reading with a child.
This My First I Can Read book is an excellent choice to share at home or in the classroom, in particular for children ages 3 to 5. It’s a fun way to learn to read and as a supplement for activity books for children.
After reading Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, I picked up a pack of Pete the Cat readers at Costco for Lily. They are all cute, but none of them are quite as good as the first one.
Pete the Kitty (I guess a younger Pete the Cat?) builds a go-cart and has a bunch of fun with it, but emphasizes that he and his friends did it together. Lily really likes this one. Paul and I kept wondering if the next thing Pete would add was going to be brakes... it doesn't really get into that, but uh, cool colors ftw, I guess? Lol
This was an enjoyable Pete the Kitty book, and it's a good read for young readers who want to read independently. The colors are bold and bright and the illustrations are cute. I felt like the story was missing some go cart building steps (as well as doing the steps in a disjointed order--for example, he goes to the top of the highest hill and then realizes he needs to paint his go cart), and I felt like it would've been more fun for Pete to be competing in a go cart race instead of racing down the hill by himself.
My child really liked "Pete the Kitty: Ready, Set, Go-Cart!" by Kimberly Dean. This one is about Pete building a go-cart, with the help of his friends Bob and Gus.
My child enjoyed how accessible the language was, and was motivated to sound out the words and eagerly repeated the phrases from the story. The colorful and bright illustrations kept his attention throughout. It's a good read for a young book lover who is just beginning to explore reading independently.
Daughter review: I didnt like it 'a little' that much. I liked the cats. And I liked they made a go cart.
My comment: these books are good for new readers. A story they can get invested in, some good repetition, and the series of Pete the Cat books have the kids wanting to read about him more and more.
Julianna read this cool book to me today. Her 1st one to begin summer reading 2023. She is reading so well!! Her teachers noted how much she has flourished & learned this year in 1st grade. Proud Mommy. Great teacher & reading teacher who both noted they enjoyed working with her. She did wonderful on her report card & reading report card. Our little smarty pants. I enjoy Peter the Cat books.
Why would he wait until his friends had pushed the go-cart up the hill to decide that he wanted to paint it? Those two parts could easily have been switched and the story would have been a lot better.
Cute story about Pete when he was a kitty cat. He wanted to build a go-cart. Each time he finds himself in need of something. His friends come to his rescue to help. Great teamwork story. Kids will enjoy this one. Highly recommended for Grades K-2.
Another entertaining entry into the series about Pete the Kitty, who grows to become Pete the Cat. This book provides high interest and easy reading for my purposes.
