This Book talks about languages of the world. What ones to learn, and how to learn them. The book begins talking about the basics of learning a language. He next talks about how he learned his languages, and his suggested techniques. He then gives advice on how to learn French, Spanish, and Russian. He also talks about some of the benefits, problems, and strange grammar quirks of each one.
I can relate to this book because I am a bit of a language nerd. I've studied Italian and French, and am planning to study Arabic in the future. I want to live in a foreign country when im older. I also want to teach my sister a language so she can be bilingual when she’s older. It is a useful aspect to have when searching for a job.
I loved this book. It kept me interested and gave me very useful advice and methods for learning a new language. It has added a lot of motivation for me to learn languages. It has also warned me of mistakes and pit holes of learning a new language. It also explains his stories of learning languages and how he did it. The book was very entertaining.
Yes, I would absolutely recommend this book to someone. Particularly a new language learner or anyone learning a language. The book helps learners decide what language learn, and chow to make it easier.
Probably not worth reading this one these days unless you like Mario Pei. The content is outdated in places and where it isn't similar advice is available in newer books or from "YouTube polyglots".
