Sing along with the construction trucks as they go through the town, push the dirt, dig a hole, and build a playground.
The familiar song is fun to sing with this different context - it's not necessarily intuitive, so the child may need to listen to the first line but they are sure to have fun with this delightfully illustrated board book full of trucks and construction equipment.
Alex has a dump truck toy. We’ve been singing The Wheels on the Bus to him since birth basically. So this was a must at the library. And it’s a hit! He wants to hear it many many times. When he hears “dump truck” he goes to his dump truck. But he comes back to look at the pictures on other verses. He pages through the book, very interestedly.
It’s a bit of a mouthful, trying to fit big words into the tune, but with the practice that baby is giving me by requesting it again and again, I’m improving.
Apparently there’s a “The Wheels on the fire truck” version too. He loves fire trucks! Need to find it.
This small board book will be a hit with toddlers who enjoy books about dump trucks, bulldozers, cement trucks, and excavators. Colorful illustrations of a busy construction site with animals working to the tune of The Wheels on the Bus will make this a fun book to share. The only aspect of this book that needs improving is the rhyming: it's awkward and doesn't match the phrasing of the familiar song; however, that's an easy fix and will not distract from the enjoyment for young fans of construction machines.
