Burned🔥 By This Book!👎
I generally love💕 Piper Stone's books📚, but this one about Hawk🐺🍆⛲🔪🔫, a baaaad boy🔥firefighter and retired Army Ranger, who lives alone in a cabin🏡 in the wilds of Montana, is pretty silly at times.
If you have never stayed out in the wilderness or gone hunting numerous times like I have, you probably won't notice the problems with many of the events in the book, but I did, and it was very annoying.
I really disliked Kelly💃💋 the woman character, because she was an airhead who didn't have a clue what she was doing, was completely oblivious to her surroundings and didn't seem to care. In the book , she continually puts herself in danger, thereby putting Hawk🐺🍆⛲🔪🔫 in danger trying to rescue her from her stupid self. That behavior in a book for the sake of the story gets really old really fast.
I didn't find the XXX scenes especially dark, although there was some domination tactics and bondage used by Hawk🐺🍆⛲🔪🔫 in a vain attempt to reach Kelly💃💋 and make her obey him.

Not for me
This is not my kind of book at all. The H puts a bar of soap in the h mouth because she cusses and demands she stand in the corner for 10 min with the soap taste in her mouth. Not my kind of H, h, or book.

Kelly and Hawk are two people that have been hurt tremendously in the past by people close to them. When he finds that she broke into his cabin after she escaped jail, he is determined to give her the discipline she needs. When he finds out she is a, wrongly accused, fugitive on the run he swears he will help her prove her innocence and protect her along the way. As more and more secrets are revealed, the more danger comes closer to hitting home and when that danger gets Kelly will Hawk truly be able to keep all his promises?
Piper takes you on one heck of a ride with this book! It’s chocked full of suspense, action, dynamic characters, and oh so much heat. I loved every single minute and can see myself reading this again.
Side note: this story is packed full of hot spankings and rough sexy times. If you are offended by this, I would advise you to steer clear. BUT - if you aren’t, then definitely pick this up - you won’t regret it!

Hawk was the epitome of a bad boy. I found him endearing and sexy as all get out. Kelly I found her lacking as a good match for Hawk. She seemed to me like a bit of a klutz and someone who generally had no idea what she was doing let alone the danger she put herself or Hawk in. To me she acted like she was lacking sense at times. The scenes that were supposed to be dark weren't that dark to me as I have read other books that packed more heat within the pages than this one did. It was ok for me but did not have the sizzle that I know Piper is known for. Hawk on the other hand was the best thing this book offered.

I loved this book, and i must say it was good to have a change of genre. A firefighter and a Innocent women
Hawk has just come home from fighting a fire, when he discovers that someone has been in his house, and still is. That person is a women , and despite her sassy attitude Hawk delivers a spanking to her backside. After she finally settles down she reluctantly tells him her story.
Kelly worked at a Bar where riffraff come in, but these particular men are just bad, the sheriff dosnt care what they do, this particular night he comes on to her and tries to rape her, but she holds her own, and to her utter believe she is been charged. So while her lawyer goes out she escapes.
These two have issues of trust, both have been let down at some stage. Their chemistry is hot, but there is more going on with kelly than even she knows but she will be relying on Hawk to save her.

A lot of twists and turns
This book kept me reading long past bed time. Two broken people, one very involved plot, lots of awesome steamy scenes and a HEA. Definitely recommend this book!

Really immature heroine
Holy heck I will never recommend this book to anyone. Kelly, the heroine, broke into someone’s home ate their food and drank their whiskey (huge no in my book) and had the AUDACITY to curse the guy out for wanting answers when she got caught sleeping in his bed in his clothes! Like, in what world is that ok?!? I’m not even going to waste my time reading the rest of this book. I can handle a mild amount of bratty behavior but she not only took the cake she took a huge dump on it too. Pass. Hard pass.

So bad I couldn’t finish it!
I love love love reading and I enjoy a good spanking dominate male submissive/sassy female story line. But this story was terrible!!! Just terrible. It was redundant and ridiculous. The plot was completely unbelievable and did I mention redundant?! The entire story needs to be rewritten-not even a good editor (I doubt this book was edited) can save it!

Smoking
It's not everyday that one of your favorite authors hits it out of the park. I mean, you can enjoy their books, their writing style, the story; but not every book is going to be a knock-out in all categories for you. I can say with confidence that PS's writing style had definitely grown and developed over the years. Her books were usually a 4 star for me. This story, though, is well thought-out and the plot developed. Her characters are always her strong suit - Alpha-like males with dominating personalities that hide a deeper need to protect and love while her female characters tend to be feisty brats that try to show the world they have something to prove while on the inside they crave discipline and love. It's a dichotomy PS perfects in very story and this one is no different in.
What makes this story so different than her others you ask??? I really think it is the time PS spent on fleshing-out the backstory and really working with side characters to make complex backstory and plot work together. I also like that PS thought about the family symbolism and some of the comments that were made throughout the story and tired them off at the end, so that instead of another orphan like Kelley, they're a a family. Often times in her other books, once the drama is over so is the book. I think this shows a new level of growth. I really liked it and the direction it took.

Burned by Piper Stone is a suspenseful dark romance which keeps you on the edgeof your seat. It is a compulsive read you can’t put down until its ending. Burned is set in a town with crooked law enforcement and tells the story of Kelly, who is a victim of an attempted and surprisingly ends up being charged after she fights off her attacker, and Hawk, an ex-Ranger and current firefighter who finds his cabin has been broken into by Kelly after she escapes from jail. Once confronted, Kelly pleads her innocence and tells her story ro Hawk who pledges to protect her. I highly recommend this well written book by Piper Stone which has great primary and secondary characters and a suspenseful plot with action, unexpected twists, secrets, intrigue, and sizzling romance.

Nope just did not work for me - But it will for other readers
I have read and generally liked a number of Piper Stone's books but Burned is one that I just could not get into. I am more than disappointed as when I read the story description I thought it was going to be soooo good. But it was just not there to me as it had a number of really implausible situations, things that were actually wrong or could not happen and I wanted to knock both the H and h upside the head at times or give them both a swift kick in the azz.
So I am sorry to say but for me this is a pass. I know that other people will love this book and the H and h as we all have different tastes. I am not going to stop reading Piper Stone's books.

Kelly foolishly challenged the wrong men at her bar job. I wasn’t overly impressed with her lack of control and stupidly putting herself in danger.
She ran away from crooked law enforcement and ended up breaking in and hiding at Hawk’s cabin.
He spent a lot of time trying to tame Kelly’s foul mouthed sassy behavior.
Then it was one hot scene after another as he couldn’t keep his hands off of her.
A bit of intrigue and drama when Kelly’s past caught up with them and as Hawk and his well connected buddies saved the day.
I liked the way Kelly tamed down as the story went on and helped Hawk reconcile with his son.

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Hawk goes home after being away working he finds his front door unlocked, he goes through every room and stops in his room a female in his bed. When Kelly awoke feeling someone watching her she saw Hawk. That is when chemistry between them was hot and steamy, Kelly ended up getting spanked for her sassy mouth. I really enjoyed this book I could not put it down.

I was excited to read this book based on the description and I have enjoyed other books from Piper Stone. It took me a little while to really get into the story. I was intrigued by Hawk, but had a harder time connecting with Kelly. As the story went on, I could see that both Kelly and Hawk needed each other to help heal some deep wounds but needed to really trust each other. While some of the situations were out there, I did enjoy the mystery aspect of the story and wanted to know how it was all going to play out. Overall, I enjoyed the story and was able to connect with the characters and was rooting for their HEA.

Kelly has been fleeing bad situations since her parents were killed when she was seven. This time, she meets Hawk, who is determined to help her even if she doesn't want it. Of course, there is instant attraction on both their parts and discipline, spankings, are definitely part of it! There is a HEA and my only complaint is that all the loose ends were tied up too quickly. I would love the HEA to be a little more involved, but that's me. 😁 I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I also read it a second time through KU.

I really liked this book. I found the story line to be very engaging. It easily captured and held my attention with a well crafted blend of drama, danger, tension, action, twists, secrets, suspense, deep emotions, darkness, intensity, kink, scorching heat and romance. I thought Hawk and Kelly were very complex characters. My heart ached for these two wounded souls. It was wonderful to witness these two find each other and get a shot at a HEA because they deserved it. Of my own accord I am posting a impartial review.

Heart-wrenching and oh so hot 🔥
Yes, this was definitely a very steamy read, with quite a substantial portion of the pages dedicated to lots of amazing sex. What impressed me most though was the emotional depth of the two main characters, especially Hawk. Kelly is on the run, has had an exceptionally difficult life, and ends up completely taking over Hawk's world. Trust and honesty become the biggest issues they make must overcome. A powerful story, excellent characters, and kindle melting steam made this one of my favorite books in recent months.

Absolutely fantastic – I really enjoyed this book! It is a fast pace, action-packed, emotionally deep, and exciting page turner. The twists and turns, suspense, spankings, secrets, mystery, danger, and so much more make for an incredible read and will spike your heart rate. The characters broken, strong, well developed, and believable; the chemistry between them is intense and off the charts. A MUST READ!

...I'm not ready for it to end.
The intensity of hawk and kellys love is explosive. The chemistry is off the charts. The first 10 minutes after they first met are proof of that for sure. And it just kept getting better. I truly loved this book and its characters. The ending was well deserved.
I highly recommend this book.

Loving the story line and all the bumps in the road showed their true love. I will not spoil the ending but here I am still teary at 3:00am writing this. Read this book and you won't disappointed. He catches Kelly as she tries to flee and decides to teach her a lesson, like a nice spanking. This book is very intense, plenty of twists and turns, and a truly dark romance.
