Some words don't need to be said...When little Katie becomes distraught at the idea of parting from her big brother, Ethan makes her a special promise. But as new seasons and challenges arise, will their pact be strong enough to quiet Katie's fears? How can she truly be sure they'll never have to say goodbye?
Rebekah A. Morris has lived her entire life (as of now) in Missouri. Being home educated during her school years was great, except for writing. That was the worst subject (along with math) that she had to do. It wasn't until after she graduated that she discovered the joys and wonder of writing. Now she can't write enough. After spending six years in research and writing, she completed her first book, "Home Fires of the Great War," a 500+ page, historical fiction about home life in the United States and Canada during the First World War. Since then, she has been an avid writer and always has more than one story going on at once because only one story at a time got tiring and dull.
5 stars. This is such a sweet little story!! I absolutely love the theme that “goodbye isn’t in the dictionary” thanks to Jesus—and Katie + Ethan’s relationship is beautiful. <33
A Favourite Quote: “You can’t think of what might happen, KayKay, because God isn’t going to give you strength to face the ‘might happens’, only what does happen.” A Favourite Humorous Quote: “Mom, she’s got a cough. We’ll be fine. Dad,” he turned as his father entered the living room straightening his tie, “tell Mom that Katie and I will be fine.” “Alice, Ethan and Katie will be just fine. You know that,” Mr. Peck said. And he winked at his son. “I don’t know if she believed me, but I tried.”
The first thing that drew me was the title! But this story…wow, it’s short, sweet, simple, but oh so beautifully touching! My eyes were watering in the last chapter. I have long felt the way Katie does; I hate goodbyes, so I stick with “see you soon.” Katie and Ethan’s relationship is just precious, and the message is heart warming!
I don't know what to say. That was one of the most beautifully sweet stories I have ever read. It was so short, but it was just so beautiful. The characters, Ethan and Katie, were wonderful. Ethan was an amazing older brother - really the perfect older brother - and Katie was adorable. The premise behind the story was brilliant, and it was written in such a touching way. Even though it covered many years in a short space of time, I didn't find the transitions jolting or unnatural. The characters were extremely well developed, and the ending was just amazing. I cried all the way through it - especially at the end. It was just the sweetest story.
This little story is so sweet! It could be used as a tool to help witness to someone, as well since it gives a clear presentation of the gospel. It also might almost make you cry at the end;)
