This inspired collection of patterns for mother and baby includes designs with a simple flare and an elegant, modern feel for use with organically grown, undyed yarns. The projects are designed for beginning to average knitters so that essential baby accessories such as booties, mittens, hats, and simple knitted toys are quickly completed and instantly cherished. A cot blanket is an example of a group project designed to be made in one evening, and slightly more ambitious designs include an adorable dress, a chunky jacket, or a kimono sweater for a baby and wonderful, cozy items for mothers such as an unusual "bump" sweater for pregnant women, nursing sweaters that are convenient and stylish, and herb-scented pillows that delight the eye and soothe the spirit.
I read this when it first came out. My LYS owner thought I would like it, so she ordered one. Of course, I bought it right up and drooled over the patterns but didn't start anything as I didn't have any littles to knit for at the time. I've now made my second item (well, finishing up now) and the patterns are so adorable. They are typical in that there is not much in the round, so I changed one of the patterns to suit my laziness. I keep hoping that this baby will let me knit while I nurse. Even though none of my others would. If she does, she'll have lots of cute things. ;-)
As I was settling into becoming rather pregnant with my 2nd child I got a major case of knitter nesting and had to knit the booties and planned on knitting a cardigan, but ended up knitting a blanket from another book and havent made my way back to this one yet. Really a lovely collection of patterns and there is a dress near the end that I must knit before my baby gets too big!
I've made quite a few things out of this book and everything, (except the one I didn't do a gauge block for) cmae out really well. I really liked one of the little cardigans I made for my little one. Great book.
This is the book that has taken much of my time while madi is napping. I'm working on a dress for her, so keep for fingers crossed that it will turn out!
