Combines my two great loves

Combining my two great loves; medieval Scotland and zombies was always going to be a winner with me! Matt writes so well and this book is perfectly paced. He brought me right into the story. I could see and taste medieval Scotland.

I love the characters and their development. I cared, laughed and cried with them. 😍 can’t wait for the next one!

I love history, Scotland and zombies so I was pumped for this book which has them all...I was not disappointed. Lots of battles, blood and some humour thrown in. I recommend this book to any fan of the zombie genre.

A refreshing take on zombies and how they came to exist. Set in mid-evil Scotland, the author paints a beautiful picture of the country, and a horrific picture of the zombies.

A rather good read especially if you like zombie fiction. Although given that the usual fare is armies or survivors with guns this is new as it it set in historical times. When Scotland was fighting against the English. Clans made up the people of Scotland and was a proud and strong country.
The dead rise and a few fight for survival all the while trying to seek vengeance upon a rival clan.
Matt Hay has given us a fun book with good characters to devour. Hopefully he will keep on getting better in this craft.

Thought the book had a great take on a zombie novel, I enjoyed the first half of the book but for me it seemed to lose its way. Certainty a book to read as other reviews seemed to enjoy this more than me.

Fab combo of a medieval setting and zombies!
Relatable characters with a few twists and turns. Well worth a read, left wondering where book 2 will go.

Set in Scotland in the late 1200's, this story has so much history included that it is a pleasure to read.  A plague created through black magic, plenty of action and suspense.  Even if you are not into the historical aspect of Scotland, you will get sucked right into the adventure and non-stop action.   This one is a perfect read for all who love zombie stories.
