Tobin Tribe #1

For Pete's Sake

Rate this book
Ethan Webb, Philadelphia’s most notorious and hated personal injury attorney, cares about exactly three things: his sister, his newborn nephew, Pete, and his law practice.
Embattled CEO and newly-widowed Stephanie Kerrigan also cares about exactly three things: keeping control of the family business that her board of directors is hellbent on taking away from her, having a baby, and winning the lawsuit Ethan Webb has filed against her.
What was Stephanie’s crime? Being married to Pete’s scumbag father. His dead father.
So after spending less than an hour with her, what possible reason could Ethan have to suddenly ask Stephanie to marry him? And why in the world would she agree?
That’s easy: extreme mutual need. Besides, it’s only for a few weeks. There’s no need for it to get complicated. Until it does.

What a great story - I loved reading about Ethan and Stephanie. Wonderful complicated characters, heat, intrigue, family, humour and some twists, it contained them all. Notorious Ethan and fiesty Stephanie both need something from each other so they strike a deal to get what they want, it all seems straightforward but what happens when it gets complicated and they discover what they actually want is each other? Ethan overcame a horrific childhood growing up in the care system to become an extremely successful personal injury attorney but has never forgotten or abandoned his roots and hides his real self behind a carefully constructed mask. Outwardly strong and successful Stephanie is also using a mask to hide her insecurities. Their chemistry is obvious but can they overcome their inner demons and the challenges in their path to find a HEA?
The plot is complex but well written and I loved the twists and turns, just when you thought you had it worked out then up pops another twist! Add in the wonderful supporting cast of Stephanie's 'aunts'
and of course the rest of the Tobin Tribe and you have the anticipation of many more great stories to come.
I would thoroughly recommend this story and can't wait to read more in the series. I received an ARC of this book, all views expressed are my own.

Captivating Marriage Of Convenience Story

I’d probably give this 4.5 ⭐️ if I could.

I always enjoy a good marriage of convenience book, they are usually entertaining and a good distraction from every day living, but this one was better than most I’ve read. What it had was plot, in spades.

Stephanie is a CEO of her grandfather’s financial company. Her parents died a few months ago and now she’s burying her husband of a year, who she just found out was married to someone else and had a baby with. Her board are determined to drive her out of her own company and are driving her crazy and her life just feels like it’s been ripped apart again.

Ethan is a personal injury attorney. One of the best in the city. He serves Stephanie with law suit papers at her husband’s funeral and for once he does not relish the start of the fight, because he knows that Stephanie isn’t to blame for his sister’s loss and for his nephew being without a father.

This first meeting leads to them getting married a few days later to save Stephanie’s company from the law suit and Ethan from losing his nephew into the foster care system.

I loved both of these characters so much. They were big and bold and strong. They also had vulnerabilities that were slowly revealed during the course of the book that stopped them from being the caricatures they could have been.

There was gentle humour in the book as well as the carefully crafted plot and the conversations between the characters were entertaining and heart warming. There was some predictability in the plot but I didn’t care because it was well written and enjoyed the journey, as much as I would have done the surprise.

I’m pleased to see that there is another book in the series already out as I really enjoyed meeting the whole Tobin clan and look forward to reading about the ‘boys’.

Wow what an amazing read, this is a new author for me and I have to say I was very impressed with her writing. The chemistry between Ethan and Stephanie is off the charts, this book was full of twists and turns. Ethan has overcome a horrible childhood and no one wants to face him in court. Stephanie grew up surrounded by love, yet lately her life is in turmoil. When their paths cross, the fireworks begin. I would definitely recommend this book to others. I received an ARC of this book, and this is my fair and honest review.

You know how sometimes a new author comes on the scene and you think – just wow! This book represents such an author. It pulls you in from the first page, and it’s a book that is hard to put down, even to make coffee. Her characters are so well written. You feel Ethan’s pain on an almost visceral level, and the graveyard scene say everything about Stephanie. Nothing in this book is predictable, but everything is worth reading. Do the threads disentangle? Yes, but you’ll need to read it to find out how.

I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.

If you are looking for a great book to read to get away from reality for a little bit I highly recommend this book. This story grabbed me from the very first page with such an interesting storyline. I could not put this book down. This is the first book for this author that I have read but it will not be the last! The storytelling was flawless and the characters were very gripping and oh so entertaining.

I refuse to spoil this story but I will tell you that Ethan is a tough Lawyer and Stephanie is taken by surprise from the first moment she meets Ethan and his family. This is a must read!

For Pete’s Sake

Enemies to lovers is definitely what these characters are. Marrying for Pete’s sake opens them both to a new world of possibilities for them. Can they work out all their issues and have a happy ever after? Strong characters who overcome major obstacles in their lives with a little mystery thrown in. The first in a new series that has me wanting to read more.

I haven't read anything by this author before and in fact I think it could be a debut book and if it is this is an author that could well be a automatic one click Her characters have so much depth and heartbreak in them that once you start it you won't want to put it down. I am ecstatic that there appears to be more books coming in this series

Ethan Webb is man who hides behind a mask after been raised in the foster system he worked hard and became the go to personal injury attorney but he is much more than he seems he hides his heart deep only caring about his sister and her son and making his practice bigger and better. Stephanie has her own dramas she is recently widowed and is trying to hang on to the comapny she is the CEO of and then to make matters worse she is handed a law suit from Ethan cn her life can anymore complicated after all the only thing she really wants is a baby. Then the unthinkable happens Ethan offers marriage of convenience for a few weeks but things get complicate when emotion and feelings come out to play What will happen between these two You will have to read to see

Did not like how this book was written.

I did not like the way the characters were portrayed. The male lead was all over the place with emotions and problems. One minute he was a tough, no feelings lawyer and then the next he was biting his knuckles and tears in his eyes, with more drama and problems that were too much to believe. The female lead loses her husband and is worried about losing her company too as some doesn't see her fit for the job and then in less than a week after her husband dies, she remarries. Nope! Unbelievable, especially since she thought they had a good marriage and didn't know he had an affair, and had a child with the sister of the guy she is marrying. Just to gain said child and one of her own. Just way too much over the top drama and storyline.

Quick read

Lots of twists and turns, in the best of ways of course. I feel like there were a lot of holes in the plot. I don't know if that's to make room for more, or if the author just hoped us readers filled in the gaps ourselves? Wasn't a fan of the politics. Usually I will end a book quick, but I really wanted to see the outcome on this one. The ending felt rushed and unfulfilled, but again, hoping the next book will fill some holes. Some good one liners in here. I loved the description of Ethan's orangutans arms. That's what I call my husband's safe space. Over all it was a good book, I'll probably continue the series since the Tobin men sound delicious.

POWERFUL AND GRIPPING!!!!!

This book has so many twisted plots you won’t be able to stop reading if you wanted to. Stephanie needed to know she was loved beyond her large size. Ethan was raised in abusive foster homes and then taken advantage of when he just turned 18 by 3 women that he thought loved him. Stephanie knows someone’s out to deliberately upstage her CEO position at her father’s company. About 80% of the way through the book you’ll find out all the “who’s and why’s. You can’t possibly see all of this coming! This story was riveting and had me gasping several times! I cannot recommend this book highly enough! It does have a happy ending!

Intricate and intriguing.

Ethan, the lawyer, hated by most has a terrible and tragic past. The only person he cares for is his little sister, who fortunately stayed with him throughout foster care.
His introduction to Stephanie is not for social reasons but legal. Things are going to get ugly......then fate throws them a curve ball and suddenly the ugly becomes the best thing that could have happened to either of them.
Intriguing read, with so much information in the background to fill you in on all the players.

A real page turner

A new to me author and a series that I’m hooked on already. Can’t wait for the next one in the series.

This is a book with so many twists and turns that you never know when the next one is going to hit.

Their marriage was built out of a need. A need to protect a child. What they never expected was their business arrangement to turn into something that neither of them were willing to walk away from. A beautiful love story with plenty of steam

Just wonderful

This book is so well written. There are many books on fake marriage or contract marriage but this is one of the best I have read. I live Ethan and Stephanie and how they grow in love with each other. Both are strong characters and live how this book expresses them as warriors who can win every battle alone but it’s good to not have to fight alone and together they can beat all the odds.

Great plot with lots of surprises. Wonderful, well developed characters and realistic dialogue. Much steamier than I like but the sex was actually part of the plot line.

I really enjoyed this book. It was engaging and funny with likeable characters. Ethan was amazing - the cold lawyer with the black heart who hides his true self from everyone. Stephanie is very relatable with her strength and her vulnerabilities. Aunt Deb made me smile every time she made an appearance. Stephanie’s brothers are all intriguing characters and I look forward to reading their stories. The plot was interesting and unexpected and complicated, and I loved the humour. Well worth reading.
