I don’t know about you, but for me, I have always enjoyed the Tips (referred to as “life hacks” in this book) for making life easy or solving issues that seemed impossible with just one little piece of knowledge. These are the things you may have shared in emails with friends, amazed that the tip was so simple that anyone should have thought of it long ago! Some seem like common sense. But most make me think, “Oh, that’s clever!”

Anyway, this book takes an assortment of “hacks” and puts them in an easy-to-manage chapter list. You may recognize some of these since they have been circulated by people who stumble upon them and are delighted to share. Now you can have both the helpful oldies and some new ones at your fingertips and all in one place for your convenience.

I can almost guarantee that you will find at least one new tip that will thrill you and save you time or money or frustration, over and over! Most of them are simple and easy to do, like cleaning hazy headlights with a little bit of toothpaste or removing gum or wax from the rug with a ziplock bag of ice placed on top so it peels right off! Give it a try and prepare to be amazed! It is well worth your time to check it out!

The Ultimate Book of Life Hacks: Top Tips for Better Living is an awesome book. Sure, there were certain life hacks I already knew. However, now I'm equipped with even more life hacks to help myself and others. The books has different chapters that help with a variety of different hacks from home, health, beauty, kids, kitchen, and even travel hacks that will make life easier. Thankful that it's loaded on my devices so it can be accessed from anywhere when a tip or hack is needed.

Do yourself a favor and buy this book. You won't regret it. The book was awesome and not the usual book of "here's an ultimate book" and then really doesn't deliver. This one does!! Lucky for all of us!

There are many life hacks in the book. Some of them, I have heard of before and there are some new ones that I will try. It is worth it to read and try in different areas of your life. There is something in there for everyone. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to try something new.

Just a quick read this one, but some good tips here nonetheless.

It's written for an American audience but most tips will apply to non-US readers too. Some tips had me thinking if they would work, others may or may not be genius. So pretty standard for this type of book really. Oh and lots of uses for Vaseline. Who knew?!

I guess there's only one way to find out if some of these work! Wish me luck...

Too many hacks, too few winners

I didn’t find anything I both wanted to try, thought would be effective, and hadn’t seen before. Several ideas met one or two of those conditions, but none had all three.

I think this is the wrong format for life hacks both generally and specific to this book. It caught my interest, but the internet is full of similar stuff and easier to digest in small instant doses than in book form. This book could benefit from a better layout and different font. It feels to dense and cramped on my kindle.

I've read a lot of books written by Ann Omasta; although I don’t normally read this type of books; but she is one of my favorite authors so I thought I would give it try. She has done a fantastic job and putting together a lot of helpful information.

HIGHLIGHTS:
1. To find out which companies are selling your contact information, start filling out forms with the company name as your name.

2. Using a magnet will help you find nails and studs in your walls.

3. Place a few drops of essential oil inside the cardboard tube

4. For a pan that is difficult to clean, fill it with hot water, pop in an Alka Seltzer tablet, and let it sit for at least 15 minutes. That dried-on gunk should wipe off easily now.

5. A teaspoon of baking soda or a lemon wedge in the water will help the shell of a hard-boiled egg come off more easily.

6. Gmail, be sure to setup the ‘undo’ functionality to give yourself 30 extra seconds to get that message back before sending.

7. Save email for the after-lunch slump. Email is mostly responding to the requests of others, so let them wait.

8. Set two deadlines for projects to give yourself a buffer if something goes wrong. The first deadline is an internal stretch-goal you set for yourself. The other deadline is further out. You share this second one with customers, clients, and your boss.

9. Visit google.com and enter ‘Set timer for X minutes.’

10. Your signature perfume scent will last longer if you dab Vaseline on your pulse points before spraying your fragrance.

11. Loosen a stuck zipper with a pencil. Rub the lead over the zipper, then work the zipper back and forth a few times. Cotton swab of Vaseline to get it zipping again.

12. Putting your phone in airplane mode will stop annoying ads from popping up.

13. Make your friends feel better by replacing the words “I know” with “you are right.” This simple vocabulary switch shifts the focus to uplifting others.

14. Have you ever needed another email address to sign up for a contest or free trial? Rather than creating a whole new account, try this genius hack. Add a ‘+1’ or ‘+2’ to your email address just before the @ sign. Websites register it as a new email, but the mail still arrives at your usual address.

Fun Collection of Life Hacks

I had read Ann Omasta's fiction before, so I was surprised to see a nonfiction book by her at one of my favorite book review sites. But I'm glad I picked it up. This is a fun and easy-read collection of hacks for different aspects of life. After a brief definition of what a life hack is and how they can so easily slip through our fingers as we see them on places like Facebook or random websites, the author divides the hack section by category like home, kitchen, work, pets, kids, clothing, etc. The hacks within each section are very random, although on occasion two will be tied together, like if number 47 doesn't work out, maybe number 48 will. (By the way, that isn't actually taken from the book, so don't go looking for those numbers!) Some were definitely ones I knew from my own experience or had heard of elsewhere, but others were completely new. I particularly enjoyed the kitchen section as I'm always looking for ways to better organize my space or help with other aspects of food and the kitchen. One I loved here was about how to use binder clips to hang opened freezer bags off the shelf above. As a single person, I always have a number of little bags in the freezer that I close with binder clips already. I will try this hack for sure so I can make use of some of that extra air as well as prevent those toe-crunching moments when a freezer package falls out when the door opens. A fun collection of life hacks.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Great collection of ideas. I liked this book a lot and found a great many excellent ideas. There were many that were obvious from one's life experience, but so many were novel that it made me realise how I never consciously thought in depth of some of them before or indeed ones that I never even heard of. You'll find out facts between airplane-mode benefits to gift card hacks. It is helpful to find them all under ''one roof''. They are even categorised into different subheadings. A few diagrams would have been helpful, not so much for demonstration purposes but rather just tp break up the list a bit. I think it is a great resource for ideas, I particularly recommend them now when so many of us are furloughed in lock-down.

This is a little different for this author and I was a bit surprised, pleasantly. This book has a few good tips I didn’t know.it basically takes an assortment of “hacks” and puts them in an easy-to-manage chapter list. I have read or seen many of them prior but it’s nice having them in one place. The author has taken both the helpful oldies and some new ones at your fingertips and all in one place for your convenience.

I have seen some of these hacks in other places, but there were a lot of ideas that I haven't meet before. There are a lot of ideas that I plan to try out in the future. I love the hack with toilet rolls and gift paper.

Well worth a look.

Very useful tips and one point of disappointment is the book does not have any pictures. I think it's useful to remember some tips and easy to find.

50+ tips in one domain make someone struggle and don't remember.

I was not sure what to expect when I started this book. As I read along, I found myself thinking about the hack tips suggested.and thinking of how useful they will be. Honestly, felt silly on a couple that were so basic but overlooked. Thanks so much for putting these helpful ideas together.

A nice collection of household tips, but they are only ordered by general categoies. like cleaning, kitchen,, etc, not what they are actually about, so finding the right hack is not entirely easy.
Still, if you have the patience to read through the hacks, there is a lot to learn and to appreciate.

★ Good collection of useful life hacks ★

—>>> Chapters are organized into logical categories. With so many tidbits, you will just have to read through them all to get the most out of the information. What I did was highlight the ones I wanted to remember. Many were familiar to me, but it is great to have so many in one volume as a reference!

Life hacks are amazing

I love learning easier ways to make life easy. Especially the travel hacks, I already use many of them. Who would have thought using a walnut to remove scratches on wood furniture - really works. Life should never be that difficult. Great book.
