This book is divided into sections about nurturing self, expanding your mind, getting creative, moving your body, getting organized, and embracing your community, but I’m not sure I’d call it a “journal”. It’s more like a guide to journaling or even a workbook, mostly because there isn’t a lot of room to really write. But that being said, it is a good book. It’s colorful, full of different types of activities, quotes, and guidance with prompts, affirmations, and meditations. And you don’t have to read it in linear order. You can jump around to whatever you want, which is nice. The tone is nurturing and calming, designed to help you, not make you feel like you’re lacking.
What I liked: the different sections (Nurture Yourself, Expand Your Mind, Get Creative, Move Your Body, Get Organized, Embrace Your Community), the inspirational quotes, the suggestions to get you moving/thinking/doing something. I also liked that it is non-linear so you can go to whatever section you need at that time and not feel like you’ve missed something.
What I didn’t like: if anything, it’s that it’s a “journal” with not much room to write and bound tightly so you have difficulty writing in it. I’d prefer a spiral bound book I could lay flat to write in. But that’s a minor nit.
Recommendation: This is a definite “add to my collection” book. Highly recommended for anyone looking to do some self-help work.

This book helps you to reconnect with your core self, grow in your courage and creativity, and engage in your relationships, all in baby steps that remind you to take care of yourself and reflect on what you truly need. This book has sections to "Nurture Yourself, Expand Your Mind, Get Creative, Move Your Body, Get Organized, and Embrace Your Community." Each section has insightful journal prompts, affirmations, meditations, gentle activities, and inspirational quotes to get you motivated.
I'm truly impressed at how this book uses thoughtful prompts and deep themes to sweetly guide the reader into a better understanding of the many aspects of self-care. And yet it never feels too heavy! Each activity is a simple little thing, a cup of tea, a walk in the sunshine, listening to a favorite song. And yet the impact is immense because of the introspection that is happening.
The quotes really made me think differently about my self-care habits. The tone of the writing is compassionate and encouraging, perfect for anyone who has been neglecting their self-care or may be depressed or anxious.
This book allows the reader to be imperfect, to try a little each day, so that it is not overwhelming. I like that you don't have to be a machine of positivity to read this book! You can be a real person with real feelings that go up and down. This book gives you tools to manage those emotions in a healthy way, but you should never ignore those feelings or try to be perfect.
The design is beautiful with soft colors and an art style like the cover. There is different artwork for each section, with drawings of trees, sunshine, clouds, and mountains. It's very peaceful and a lovely background for all the quotes.
I'm truly impressed with this book and the way it is organized and presented!

This self-help journal allows the reader to focus on self-care to help them recharge, set-up their own boundaries and heal all facets of their life whether mental, physical and/or emotional. As a result the book does an in-depth exploration of all its subjects.
There is a brief introduction by the author explaining how this journaling idea was started, her own personal experience and what she hopes to bring to the reader's self-health. From there Carley breaks the self-help tenets down into Nurture, Expand, Get Creative, Move Your Body, Get Organized and Embrace Your Community while using each of these as ascending developmental chapters for the journal itself.
All of these chapters starts off with a two-page spread with a quote on page and on the opposite side the name of the chapter. Underneath the chapter name itself is a definition of the main theme of this particular chapter so that way the reader knows exactly what they are focusing on.
Each of the chapters is filled up with different exercises focused on the concept being explored. Some of these exercises include: affirmations, streams of consciousness journaling/freewrite, create a present moment, breathing exercises, food for the soul, lists, life assessments, meditations, letters, doodling, challenges, making goals and so much more. Each exercise is led by a paragraph or two that explores the origin and why of the exercise as well as giving some basic rules to help the journalist complete the task being suggested.
The book is brightly illustrated with colored pages that gives each particular section a color code. Even so it is a bit hard to tell the separation of these sections. The only other illustrations for the book are in the chapter headings in which they are collage formatted.
All in all it is a decent journal for those who want to start exploring self-care tips and exercises to improve the way that they care for themselves.

I love journaling. It serves as a healthy and comforting way for me to sort through my thoughts--especially now, during a worldwide, world-changing Coronavirus Pandemic! With the shelter-in-place order going on in my state, this is the perfect time to nurture myself with this Holistic Self-Care Guided Journal.
Hard times serve as building blocks. When we persevere, we grow. This lovely journal provides prompts, quotes, and practices that are encouraging and incredibly inspiring.
We all need a little self-care and self-love, and this mentally enhancing journal is a fine way to promote that!
I received a complimentary copy from Callisto Publisher's Club.
I first want to say that I did receive this book from the publishing company but it does not affect my review of the book. I have wanted to start journaling again and also bettering myself. When I saw this book being offered I knew this was the perfect start for me. I have been really enjoying this and learning so much about myself. I have had a hard time finding a way to take care of myself instead of everyone around me and I feel this book is grounding me and helping me find the ways to also care about myself and to grow.
This journal is approachable and tackles some tough topics in a gentle way. I appreciated the prompts and exercises and will definitely be going through this journal again and again. Many people could benefit from a journal like this.
My only issue with it was that I felt the amount of provided writing space wasn’t sufficient for some prompts.
I received a copy of this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This book focuses on self-care, and it's split into six sections about nurturing yourself, expanding your mind, getting creative, moving your body, getting organized, and embracing your community. The book doesn't go deep into any specific topic. It's ok for helping you discover something you might be interested in further exploring, but for me, it was not as focused or in-depth as I would've liked. If you already know what area you want to work on, this book is too all-over-the-place. However, the colors are nice and soothing, and it would be a nice gift for someone just starting to delve into self-care techniques.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not influence my review.
A beautiful thought provoking journal encouraging positive thoughts. Quotes throughout and affirmations. The variety of writing prompts keep you coming back to write. Excellent for yourself or a gift to share!
