All Shapes Matter is a story about five shapes – triangles, rectangles, squares, octagons and circles. The shapes spend their first day at elementary school learning a lot about each other and having fun. However, during recess, some of the shapes come across a problem they are unable to fix by themselves. The unfamiliar shapes who were initially shunned for being different end up coming to their aid. The shapes learn a valuable lesson that their differences can sometimes be more important than their similarities. They realize that there is value in diversity and that ‘All Shapes Matter’, no matter how similar or different they are.
A story by a child ,for children. So often we find children getting left out of the group-lonely &forlorn -.Chakra has ingeniously spun a story around this everyday happening &infused it with a moral too.Along with fun illustrations All Shapes Matter is sure to be a hit with kids &kindergarten l libraries
What a great children's book to teach about shapes and also diversity. It's a very good lesson and fun for young children to listen to and look at pages. The illustrations are adorable. The repetition of the shape names catches their attention. I recommend this for families and schools and libraries.
This was a goodreads win. I loved the story and can't wait to share it with my almost 3 year old grandson. He has learned his shapes in day care and loves school buses. I think he will really enjoy it. Then when he is a little older I can explain about treating everything and everyone fairly. That shape, color and size doesn't matter.
I was pleased to win this book from Goodreads and the 7 year old author, Chakra Sreekanth. This is a wonderful introduction to shapes for children with a message toward kindness and inclusion. There is a lucky little girl who will receive this gift.
A delightful book with wonderful underlying messages. My little one really likes the stories and the illustrations. I believe that this book is multilayered in content and there is something for each child to take away regardless of age or experience. It is fun to find a book written with a child for children. Truly peer tutoring is the best way to learn. A wonderful addition to any library and a good read.
i'm giving this book an astounding 5 stars because *nepotism*.
but in all seriousness, me and this book go WAY back. every single time i go to my relative's house, i find this book. and to start off the new year i decided to read it- for possibly the 100th time.
and i have a problem with the whole story because it's flawed. what if the shapes weren't making a bus? they would've ignored those circles forever. the only reason they bothered to accept and apologize to the circles was because they needed their help and the circles proved themselves to be useful. but if they were making a house (or anything else for that matter) then they wouldn't have needed the circles and the circles would have had to sadly sit under the tree for the rest of eternity.
i hope nobody takes any of that really seriously, because i am definitely not the target audience for this and i just needed something else to put in this review. and yeah i actually am related to the man, the myth, the legend, chakra himself and will totally be reading all his other books.
All Shapes Matter by Chakra Sreekanth is a story about five shapes that spend the first day of school having fun and learning about one another. Until, during recess on the play yard, they get made fun of for being different. The shapes learn that it is okay to be different in your shape and size no matter what anyone else says. Readers also learn about geometrical concepts at an early age from the author disussing the amount of sides it takes to make up a particular shape and this book can be an great foundational source for teaching kids about what a shape looks like and how to identify which shape it is. I also think this is a great diversity book as well because the story talks about how it is okay to look different from the person or shape sitting next to you and to embrace who you are as an individual and to accept your differences because that is what makes you as a person unique! The shapes realize that no matter what they look like or what differences they have. Their is value in diversity and that concept needs to be addressed amongst all students and readers.
Intended Audience: The intended audience for this book is preschool and elementary students. Key Themes & Topics: This book is designed to capture the attention of readers and teach them about the different shapes. This book can be used to teach students about the shapes such as circles, triangles, and squares. But it can also be used to teach students about the different shapes of people. This book is very simple but teaches students to understand concepts related to diversity and acceptance. Why This Book: I chose this book for students so they can learn to accept not only other people but themselves. This book goes through the different shapes of people and shows that they all look different. In real life, all people look different but we should accept everyone regardless of what their shape is. This book is also a good book for letting students know that no what shape they are, they are going to be accepted and loved.

I selected this book because it will teach students about what the different shapes are and teach them that every shape has its own name.
All Shapes Matter is a book where shapes are kids, throughout the book it plays a little kid in a school day, they come to school and they go to recess while there the shapes Strat to realize they don't all look the same, they Strat to notice some shapes have no corners and some may have more than the others do. After all of the shapes were figured out they were all different they thought what can we make if we all come tougher they found that they could make a school bus. This is a fun book the overall message is bringing everyone tougher and this could be a good starting point if some children are being left out. This book I would put in my classroom because I feel that the overall message that it is portraying to the readers the message is clear therefore, I feel that I can give this to the children with no lesson or introduction first.
I was satisfied to read this book and the fact that this 7 year old writer, Chakra Sreekanth. This is a superb prologue to shapes for youngsters with a message toward thoughtfulness and consideration. There is a fortunate young lady who will get this blessing. Its amazing to see how far a young child can come up with a book like this.
This is such a good book for children. It not only talks about shapes but it also talks about diversity. I think this is a good book for all children to read or listen to no matter their age. The illustrations inside are also super cute so I feel they would be eye catching for young children.
My kiddos enjoyed this book, both my my reading it to them, and looking through it when we were done. It’s a cute little book and allows kids to learn their shapes in a super fun way!
