The Big Beat is full of interviews and pictures of rock's most famous drummers. Included are Ringo Starr, Charlie Watts, Levon Helm, and Jim Keltner among others. With a foreword by Bruce Springsteen.
I (almost) always love interviews with musicians, especially when the interviewer is knowledgeable and asks the kind of questions you would ask yourself.
This is an old book - 1984 i think - but it doesn't interfere with the subject matter - drummers. Max Weinberg has good a rapport and there a re some great insights and conversations.
Picked this up in NYC in the late nineties when I was on tour with my band. Got it signed by the author himself (Max Weinberg-Drummer from the E Street band) many years later at a NAMM show in L.A. Great Photos of, and interviews with many of rock's overlooked drummers, and some who are known to all (Including Charlie Watts, Ringo Starr). My Favourite interview is with Levon Helm. A good read for a lazy Sunday afternoon when you don't want anything too taxing, and if you're a drummer of course!
