Barbara Ebel is an award-winning and USA Today Bestselling Author who sprinkles credible medicine into the background of her medical suspense novels. Since she is a physician and specialized in Anesthesiology, her operating room scenes shine. However, her vivid characters and plots take center stage.

She has penned three medical suspense series, and two separate medical novels. Definitely check out the New Book Release at the bottom.....

“Doctor Barbara’s” Dr. Annabel Tilson series includes six books (which can each stand alone), and is based on a female medical sleuth who promises exciting times on the wards as well as in her personal life. Two books in the series have won awards: Death Grip, the 4th book, won the 2018 NIEA award (National Indie Excellence Award), and Deadly Delusions won the 2017 Kindle Book Awards Semi-Finalist for thrillers.

Her first series, the Dr. Danny Tilson novels, takes place in Tennessee and is based on a neurosurgeon who has his hands full in the O.R. as well as in his personal life due to a female villainess, a favorite character of readers (who have a love-hate relationship with her). Dr. Danny’s third book, Collateral Circulation, was the 2015 National Indie Excellence Awards Finalist for Medical Thrillers. Operation Neurosurgeon, the first book in the series, was the top finalist for best-selling medical mystery books in 2012. (Best Selling Books' blog announced on PR Buzz Press Release Wire, Chicago, IL).

Dr. Ebel lives in a natural wildlife corridor in Tennessee with her husband and dogs. She maintains an active, non-clinical role in medicine, and loves to hear from readers.

In addition to her adult writing, she has illustrated and penned a children's book series called Chester the Chesapeake. The books developed during her philanthropic visits with her therapy dog, Chester. The dog books continue to inspire adults and children alike. (Chester the Chesapeake).

NEW BOOK RELEASE April 2024:

"BLUE, the Deaf Agility Dog," is a heartwarming story about BLUE, who is a deaf, rescued dog owned and trained by the author.

Eh

Not too impressed. All the books I've read so far from this author, seven as of now, lack so much: proper grammar and punctuation, no real plot line, no crescendo... It's really just ... stale.

This is the third book in this series that I have read. I very much enjoy the medical aspects and love learning all the things the medical students have to know. That is why I have read these.
Spoiler alert!!
However, I have to say that the protagonist is a disappointment for me. Basically she has the morals of an alley cat and the common sense and judgment of an amoeba And that is probably an insult to an amoeba! She is supposed to be a very smart, almost brilliant medical student. Her care and advocacy for her patients is outstanding. Yet her personal life choices are that of an adolescent. That kind of behavior was rampant in the 80's. One of the characters in the books has a a word for her behavior - "trash". It as that way in the 80's and I believe it is that way now. Doing something because someone else is doing it does not make it acceptable, good, the right thing or good judgment. I am hoping that the author has a epiphany in mind for the character instead of having her continue to make the same mistake in every book. Surely somewhere she will learn from her mistakes. It is hard to believe that millennials think this kind of behavior is acceptable. I recognize I am old fashioned, but character, judgment and morals all count.

Good story

Anabel Tilson certainly has a reckless trait about men . The students are on an internal medicine rotation at a VA hospital . The experience is eye opening as they experience the complexity of patients with end of life situations .

People dying

Annabel would make a good receive besides being a great future doctor. 3 patients died. Police suspected who did it. Annabel confirmed their suspicions. This series is so worth reading.

to die

Was pretty boring at first and took awhile to get into it. Too many medical terms for the average reader. Last half of the book was much better and glad I finished

Informative

I'm learning medical terms and enjoying a look at the life of medical student on mandatory hospital rotation. Life style lessons were included.
