Quickie book inspired by the fuss caused by his "Rivers Of Blood" speech. Thorough. Powell learned that "All mikes are on" "All cameras are working" to use the old reporter saying.

Very interesting case study in politicians abandoning their beliefs in order to gain power. Feels very relevant to today's political climate in Britain #refugeeswelcome

Brilliant, Paul Foot at his forensic best; this tract from 1969 shows the opportunism behind Powell's espousal of the immigration and race relations issue and is also prophetic about the propaganda from the Right that surrounds this topic.
