Dnf (may pick up again later)
I'm just not in the mood for a book where the guys are all manwhores sitting around talking about blowjobs, getting laid and by how many. The guy liked the girl but didn't understand his feeling so maybe he should go get laid. He didn't but he did go to the bar and flirt with girls. Just not right now

Garrghhh. TSTL. Really. Leaving to get a coffee when she has been in hiding after her apartment was broken into... and she works for a Security company. TSTL. Go into hiding somewhere that he has a picture of in his flat? Wow... just... wow. And then shouting out 'Gracie' and 'Gracelynn' when they are supposed to be undercover... just... wow.

The cameo from the Delta team really didn't fit either. Ghost didn't sound like Ghost.

And I am sooo bored of the men who happily have their dicks sucked one night by a stranger ( and this happens on countless occasions )... and then the next day... oh... my... god... fall in lurve ( although he can't be sure so he goes back to look for the suckee... that night... nice... really nice... ).

I have said it, ad infinitum, I don't like self-proclaimed manwhores who suddenly find the 'one'. It is completely unbelievable... and if I were the 'one' I would insist on tests for every STI going. Even if they 'wrap it up' every time. I think, partly, it is because the MW's are not YA in the first flush of having sex that I find it so off-putting in a male lead. It is a habit... a sad one at that.

Also found it pretty offensive that Turkey was called a shit-hole. It isn't. Parts of it aren't good... but that is true of every single fraking country in the world. It would've been way more acceptable if the country had been made up.

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

Whenever I reread this book it’s for the mortal peril, action and suspense. The romance is cute enough but I never know how to feel about the MMC. On one hand he pretty much immediately falls for the FMC and is protective and sweet about it, but he’s also a dumbass who wouldn’t know an emotion if it hit him in the face and he spends large parts of the book in denial and being absolutely adamant that he doesn’t want a relationship, and that’s just annoying. You’re 33, not a teenager, lol.

Anyway. He comes around, mortal peril happens (yay) and they live happily ever after, blah blah blah.

Did not hold up that great this time around. The way the MMC and the side characters talk about women and hookups in the beginning is such an ick — like they’re not even human beings. Spare me.

I have read all the R.I.S.C. And loved them all, but this book w Nate and Gracelynns story was my favorite. It was funny ,romantic and dad all rolled into one. I read this book in one setting and hated for it to end 5 stars is definitely not enough. I highly recommend that you add this book to you TBR pile.

I was able to read an early review copy of Rescuing Gracelynn. It will be a new addition into the Special Forces: Operation Alpha world and I really loved it! Nate Carter is a member of Bravo RISC team and his partner Kole's fiancee Sarah's sister has recently taken a job with RISC and from the moment he has met her his heart and head have been in knots. Nate is a confirmed bachelor. He never planned on ever committing to anyone other than his team but that is before he met Gracie McDaniels. She is bright, funny, beautiful and not the kind of woman that plays around so he had better keep things purely professional. Well Gracie's personality and a tie to a murdered soldier keeps drawing Nate into her life and both of them better buckle up for this wild ride because it is going to get rough! Rescuing Gracelynn is loaded with action, laughs, intrigue, lust and love. It is told from dual POV and if you enjoy military action romance then this is a must read.

While there's nothing revolutionary about Rescuing Gracelynn (it's a fairly standard military/ex-military/security team rescuing one of their loved ones in danger), it's a very well written book. Gracelynn is smart and compassionate, and very nearly saves herself in the end. Nathan is strong, but vulnerable, and risks his own life to save hers. What more could you ask for in a military-themed romantic suspense? Blakely created so many great characters that the inclusion of Susan Stoker's Delta team seems almost unnecessary (though it is, to make this a true Operation: Alpha book. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

This review contains spoilers and complaints. If you do not like these things please read other reviews.

Can we talk about Gracelynn or Gracie and how she got on my ever loving last nerve and I kind of wanted her to die at the end. I knew it wasn't going to happen but.... Seriously.

First off, she worked for the NSA. And this may be a stretch/making assumptions on my end, but if you're working for the NSA wouldn't you have some knowledge of how security/cameras works and can be hacked and how politics and the credibility of information works? We will revisit this later

Secondly, Gracie disappears for a week because someone broke into her home and made a mention of her name on the phone which meant they were targeting her specifically. Okay. Fine. She didn't want to put anyone in danger and even approached Nate in a outfit that hid her features where he drew a gun on her.

SO WHY IN FIVE LOVING H-E- DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS DOES SHE AND HER SISTER JUST WALTZ ON OVER TO THE COFFEE SHOP THE NEXT DAY.

She made her sister and friends all worry for a WEEK about her, she didn't use credit cards or her cell phone, but she's like being out in public is alllllllll hunky dory. WTF
Remember working at the NSA? Did they just hire her on and was like "meh, we will will train you later if you are ever chosen to be in the field but we will give you this high security clearance in the meanwhile".

And then nit picky thing she gets a letter from Craig stating don't trust Turkish president because bad things, and she thought that they could just, I don't know, waltz up to the secret service and be like DoN't SiGn ThE dEaL, a DeAd SeAl ToLd Me He WiLl BeTrAy YoU. PrOoF? i HaVe hIs LeTtEr. Like that is embarrassingly naive for anyone, let alone a FORMER NSA MEMBER, to state. Honestly if this was my only gripe with her I would live with it because in the grand scheme of things it isn't a big deal. But it's just another facet of her of how she is so annoying.

And then LASTLY, Nate is all like let's run to the store together but Gracie was like I'm gonna disregard the warning of a TRAINED OPERATIVE and pout because I want ten minutes to myself. Nate was like that is not a good idea but because she was in a "funk" he was all like okay... (which I get emotionally she might need like a minute but she could do that in a separate room or something and Nate should have been like you wanna regroup or you wanna live).

And then GUESS WHAT HAPPENED....
*spoiler but shouldn't count as a spoiler cause it's super predictable*

Gracie gets taken *shocked*

Adrian, just kill her please. She's obviously TSTL.

I will give credit where credit is due I nearly didn't finish it at 67% but I felt like it wasn't fair to do a long, ranty review and not finish it. The capture of Gracie to the end was a little better. I do like the author made Gracie attitude-y when she was held captive and not a total pathetic wilting woman. I will give Gracie a bit of credit for trying to drive the car off the bridge cause she thought she was going to die.

And let's talk about Nate.

I understand other complaint about how annoying it is when men in books talk about previous conquest in books. Not my biggest pet peeve but I'll give credit that it can be stereotyp and tedious in books.

So Nate loses Gracie and is stressed to the max and then he thinks that he can Lone Ranger it and find her. What? You think ONE Special Force soldier who is high on emotions and drugs can find another soldier that the US government hasn't been able to find in YEARS? What? By, what, the power of love?

Also they go to a place, a place that Nate has a picture of in his house. Granted it could be generic outdoor background and the bad guys batted 1 /10000000000000 and found it but that doesn't seem to be the case when Kole and Nate were arguing about it

The author had to make this heroine do incredibly stupid things in order to move the action along and that always bothers me. It goes back to the whole "me women, need to be rescued by man". And I'm all for a good rescue book but why couldn't she have had two brain cells to rub together also?

So I love the Susan Stoker fan fiction world. I devoured Owen by Riley Edward's the other day. The author writes well. If not for these super annoying plot points I would really like this book. But I nearly threw my tablet I was so frustrated with this book.

Really not good. Plots that weren’t realistic and didn’t make sense.

I keep reading these books, as the plot sounds really good. Then I’m disappointed every time. Anna Blakely writes about how incredible R.I.S.C team members are, how everyone says they are brilliant, and the best. So why do they make so many stupid mistakes?

Gracie meets Nate when her sister Sarah, is holding a bbq for the R.I.S.C men. They are instantly drawn to each other, but Nate refuses to have a relationship so pushes her away. This goes on for much of the book. He kisses her, pushes her away, she kisses him, he pushes her away. I had whiplash from him changing his mind.

When Gracie is in danger Nate is tasked with looking after her. This is when the mistakes start. Nate completely misses the hidden picture that a dead navy seal sent her, and that everyone is after. He’s supposed to be a computer genius and he missed it? 🤔 Then he takes Gracie to a cabin that he’s been to before and has a PICTURE OF ON HIS MANTLEPIECE!!! Seriously??? Then he leaves her on her own, and obviously she’s not safe. It’s just ridiculous. The worst bit was when Nate and his team, are with navy seals, to rescue Gracie. For some bizarre reason they start telling each other (In the middle of the mission.) how they met their wives, and what happened to them!!! I kid you not!!

There are loads of other issues with this book, and it’s so disappointing. It could have/should have been brilliant.

Strong

A good start to a new series within the Operation Alpha world. Ghost, Coach and a few others make appearances. The amount of chemistry, family dynamics, friendships, action and intrigue is entertaining and spaced out well. The Bravo team is Interesting and has me ready to read more. I do wonder if there are is a series for the aloha team since the characters and their stories were discussed as common k owl edge in the book. If so they sound good as well! Quick read with a HEA.

Rescuing Gracelynn by Anna Blakely

I purchased this audio book.

The narration provided by Virginia Rose was great. She did a wonderful job varying the voices and giving emotion to the characters. A bad audio voice can ruin a book so fast, but she did a fantastic job!! I was totally engaged and hooked by how she told the story.
Here we go with my long-winded story…lol…if you read my reviews you are used to this. I met Anna at a book signing but she was also lined up to attend my signing. I like to read something from each author, and this was the perfect time to grab her plus get her opinion. Now I like military but my bestie LOVES military so I knew buying her a book would be a great gift idea. After talking to Anna and hearing her say Audio…my dog ears perked up at that comment….this was the series I picked for me. LOL
This is the spin off series from the alpha series but I didn’t feel lost or like I missed anything at all. The characters are all introduced, and I would have thought this was just a regular series had Anna not told me it was series two. So anyone who likes to stay in “True order” you are ok to start here.
Nate and his fellow RISC team at hanging out having a beer and razzing each other like single dudes do. When Gracelynn steps out on the patio his whole body is on high alert. He must meet her. He ends up scoring a secret date with her on the guise of planning a bachelor/bachelorette party together. The chemistry between the two is off the charts but his military buddy and her sister are like NOPE. You are a dirty dawg!! Stay the EFF AWAY from Gracie!! Of course, he listens…bahahha nope. Gracie, of course listens BAHAHAHA nope. The couple begin a slow dance and the steam is off the charts. When things change and Gracie has to go undercover with Nate as her “Handler” everything gets blurred REAL quick for the two.
The story of why and who is after Gracie was a good one. I enjoyed all the god guy/bad guy stuff and how the team was working together to stop the terrorist. I will say I giggled at the villains voice in the audio because it totally is the perfect villain voice!!
Now I will say there were a couple times I did eye roll at the “women are helpless” but then just let it go because hey its not my book. But yeah, once or twice I was like REALLY Girl??? All in all, I loved the book and can’t wait to download book two audio,

I, being the jury is tied.
It was a first time listen to Anna Blakely and I'm a huge Susan Stoker fan so I opted in with Anna's story.
However, there is lack of strength in various places.
I figured out the mystery's at least 5 steps ahead of the boys as the obvious tell tales were a little too easy.
Then the heroine is smart and brave one moment and really stupid the next, choosing poorly and not thinking things through or ahead.
And I did find it hard to like the H, he wasn't as smooth and smart as I envisioned him to be, he made way too many mistakes for my liking, until the end, then I kinda softened toward him as he came to realise what we, as listener's in Susan's world of Deltas/Seals/Rangers know already.
The added distrust in this realm was so out of character in a usually slick operations setting.
Although it was nice to hear Ghost and team enter the story, and save the day I might add.
These points along with a few more make the plotline weaker than I'd like even though it was really intricate.
And then, amazingly, for top notch alphas, there were a lot of mistakes, emotions and animosity between a crack shot crew.
I found this to be irritating and annoying.
Anna is clever at drawing the plot out with the dialogue, giving us several POV's. It seems to put you right in there with them.
The predicament the heroine gets into is suspenseful and I was thinking the worst.
There's some steamy scenes and romance angst to keep the H and h's chemistry going.
The final piece to the puzzle unfolds gradually the heats up witth some action which kept me listening...that and Virginia Rose. she's such a brilliant narrator and did an awesome job with all characters with her tone and inflections.
All in all I enjoyed the storyline and the intricate way Anna B has pieced it together.
It's an enjoyable listen if you don't mind a few weak spots in the fabric.
I will head to book 2 but Susan's "Henley" novel and Riley's "Liberty" book beckon first.

How funny that this is the third anniversary of this book! Rescuing Gracelynn is the first book in the Special Forces: Operation Alpha Bravo Team series. It’s a spin-off from Blakely’s R.I.S.C. series which I’ve featured. I LOVE it!

The team is gathered for a barbecue when their new secretary Gracelynn arrives. There’s a spark between Gracie and Nate, and Nate Carter is immediately smitten with her. Nate’s teammate Kole is engaged to Gracelynn’s sister and warns Nate to stay away. Gracelynn is sweet while Nate is too much of a player. Unfortunately things get very serious when Gracie’s apartment is ransacked and she disappears. She later shows up at Nate’s seeking help, trying to understand why anyone would want to hurt her. If Nate can help Gracie, the two of them might just have a shot at love.

This book is a banger! Blakely always writes the perfect mix of action, romance, and steam. There’s just the right amount of angst which makes us root for Nate and Gracie! The plot is solid and has a great story dealing with a corrupt world leader. All the tendrils of the story weave together at the end creating a perfect narrative that is believable but not too over the top and a romance that doesn’t seem silly or contrived. I love the Bravo team’s dynamic of being a found family. They work closely together and truly love one another and come together to help when one of their own is in danger. I especially love seeing characters from the R.I.S.C. Series make appearances.

Rescuing Gracelynn is fantastic, and I can’t wait to read the next one in the series! I highly recommend. Let me know if you read it - I’d love to discuss!

Rescuing Gracelynn is the first book in Anna Blakely’s Bravo Series. Ms. Blakely introduces her readers to Gracelynn “Gracie” McDaniels and Nathan “Nate” Carter. She works for RISC, a security firm, as their office manager. Nate, former military operative, currently working as a computer data analyst for RISC. Both Grace and Nate are attracted to each other. However, Destiny, shakes up their romance when Grace is connected to an international terrorist’s schemes. Grace volunteers with a VA hospital, met, and befriended Craig Wyatt. Craig managed to get his hands on incriminating evidence that would take out a corrupt Turkish politician, Edric Yavuz. Yavuz and his henchman, Achim Akmar, an assassin. To confiscate and destroy the evidence, Yavuz and Akmar on in pursuit of Grace. Will she find freedom? Will Nate and Grace find happiness?
Ms. Blakely does a remarkable job with this military suspenseful romance. This book is a captivating read capturing the magnetism of love. She possesses a remarkable skill for creating diverse and appealing characters. The main characters have chemistry between them. This book is beautifully written with great dialog, a dual POV, and descriptive scenes that lends credibility to this HEA romance.

Unable to get a lead on the file he wanted from a captured American soldier, Turkish facilitator, Edric Yuvuz had the soldier brutally murdered but believed the soldier’s last words were a clue that he’d passed it onto someone close to him. Edric goes with a clutch of thugs to track where they think the person with the information can be found.

Gracelynn 'Gracie' McDaniels and commitment-phobe Nathan 'Nate' Carter were smitten the moment they met but Nate had been warned off Gracie by his teammate, Gracie’s soon to be brother in law while she was being warned off by her sister. Trying to fight the warnings against what he wanted and what he didn’t want, Nate was giving her mixed signals. But on her first day at work, Gracie interrupts a team meeting and comments she knows the brutally murdered soldier being discussed.

To my taste, while the cat and mouse game on a used storyline and showed all the goodies before being 20% into the read; the outing brought likeable, easy to invest in characters and a heavy emphasis on romance to provide an enjoyable visit.

GOOD SATISFYING READ!!! 👍

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the main characters, Nate and Gracie. Their romance was sweet and sexy! I liked that they were attracted to each other from the beginning. Some readers don't care for Insta-love but I do... It sets the whole romance up quickly without a lot of ups and downs! What single woman wouldn't want a good looking single man to take one look at them and be enthralled? The suspense in this book was very engrossing and riveting. I found myself yelling the clues out loud to Nate and the team..... When a reader does that you know it is a book that is so well written that the mystery and drama feels real!!! 🤗. The twists and turns were unrelenting and the ending was very satisfying!!!! I highly recommend this book... I am really enjoying all the books I have read written by Anna Blakely because her stories grab your attention and keep you entertained all the way to the ending!!!!😊

Rescuing Gracelynn

OMG! What a powerful story. This story is about Nate and Gracelynn. Hate was the type of guy who thought he would never fall in love until Gracie. These two thought they could deny each other until people decide Gracie knows where evidence is and she is kidnapped. The last few chapters were totally heartwrenching! First Nate gets shot & Gracie thought he was dead so she figured she didn't have anything to lose. When she found out he was still alive, she tried to protect him. When she was in the water, tears were in my eyes as she said goodbye to Nate. Nate refused to give up & he saved Gracie. Once she was healed, Nate decided to make Gracie a permanent fixture in his life. Now these two are working on their happily ever. FANTASTIC job Anna! I would recommend this book.

I borrowed Rescuing Gracelynn ~ Bravo R.I.S.C. Team ~ Book 1 by Anna Blakely from the Kindle Unlimited Program.

Nathan Carter, ex-Navy SEAL, tech genius for Bravo Team of R.I.S.C. Security and confirmed bachelor doesn't know what hit him when Gracelynn McDaniel walks into a Bravo Team picnic at his best friend's home.

When she is in danger from terrorists that think she has a file sent to her by a former SEAL that is known to have been captured, touted and killed by the Turkish terrorists. She has no idea what her friend could have sent her and the R.I.S.C. tech (Nate) and Homeland Security can't find the missing file.

The terrorists are determined, the attempts on Gracie persistent and the capture of her full of danger and the rescue dangerous with Nate getting his one and only back. You need to read this one to enjoy the adventure to romance for Nate and Gracelynn.

I wanted to love it, I did, but I didn’t.

I think the author relied too much and the alpha warrior security team trope too much. There was no unique storyline. There wasn’t even evidence to back anything up.

Let me explain why, Nate is a genius computer wiz for a security firm. He’s the alpha bad guy, you know? Well I don’t. He never finds anything. He never does anything that helps solve anything.

Then he lets everyone emasculate him. From his best friend to his besties wife telling him when he couldn’t do with her. Then to say he can, as if they need his permission? They’re grown!

The h was meh. Nothing good to say but nothing bad. Even with that said, it’s an easy and clean read. Can be enjoyable for anyone who likes this trope.

I found Ms Blakely's books in the Operation Alpha listings and am very glad I did. Having read the prequel to Bravo RISC team I am looking forward to reading each story. I found the characters to be interesting and engaging, the action fast paced and exciting and the romance spicy. Nate and Gracie had an instant connection and although he tried to keep her in the friends only zone his heart told a different story. She wanted Nate and made no bones about it. Although she had to respect his hands off declaration it didn't mean that she liked it. When her life is endangered, Nate knows he can't ignore his feeling anymore. A combined mission with Ghost's Delta Force team takes care of business and the guy gets his girl.

Nate and grace

First book in this side series R.I.S.C alpha series is the first and the base but this series starts around Book 3 or so of alpha series of the R.I.S.C.then a spin off or season three is Charlie team series.
So if you have read alpha series or started to you can read this series side by side from book three.it's set in same time and place. This book only has cameos from Jake (the boss) and his wife Olivia (first book) as the same homeland hospital is used and jakes office because they are the second team to alpha so same offices.
This series also had as cameo from ghost and his team it's clear they are all in love so that series is before this but does not matter to much.

another great series

Anna Blakely writes characters you feel as though you know them. This is the second series of hers I am reading. The first R.I.S.C. Alpha Series.
This one I loved because she brought characters from Susan Stoker’s books which are an amazing read also!
My only problem is I can’t find the book that Anna Blakely write about Kole and Sarah which should be actually be the book before this one. But it is still a great read and you can definitely understand without the other book.
So if you want to read a great book about a team of ex soldiers who find their special someone and that has some great stories please read the series it is definitely worth your time!

Rescuing Gracelynn

Rescuing Gracelynn was fast paced from beginning to end. Blakely introduces us to R.I.S.C Bravo Team. Nate is the male lead, his emotions were all over the place and at times I wanted to throttle him. Gracelynn aka Gracie is our female lead, she is sweet, tough and I loved her character. Gracie will be put though hell for something that was sent to her by a friend. Nate will race across the world to save the women he has stolen his heart. Blakely's Bravo team had the help of Stoker's Deltas Ghost, Fletch and Coach. I loved these characters were included in this story. Great start to Bravo Team! Happy Reading!!

3.5 stars. I wanted a little break from the normal books I read for something super fast-paced and easy to read. I will say this book is fast-paced, it feels like its action scene after action scene while reading. I wouldn’t say this book is particuarily easy to read though. When reading thoss action scenes it’s kind of like a few sentences were left out where Nate is across the street then you turn the page and suddenly he’s with Gracie already across the road. It was a little jarring and I had to backtrack a few times to see if I had missed something. But, this book is exactly what I wanted to read and it delivered on everything it is marketed to be (military, action-packed romance).

If "fxk yeah 'MuriCaaaa" was a book it would be this one. Absolutely sexist. The women are sexy lampshades whose purpose it to be kidnapped and saved. The love interest keeps saying things like "she's mine. My women etc etc." Like she is property. And then of course the way the men call women "the fairer sex" like it is the 19th century. The whole plot about Turkey being evil and wanting to take over America was honestly just so stupid it was funny. It did not help at all that the voice actress of the audiobook made the evil Turkish terrorists talk with a Russian accent.
It was honestly just, head empty, no thoughts.

Book 1. Can I ask why do you want to write that the women in the book is smart, sexy, funny yada yada yada, but have them do some really dumb things. Oh, someone broke into my house and I have to go into hiding, but hey, now I’m with my sister and the badasses are in the building, I’ll just go and grab a coffee across the road with my sister. Um ffs dumb dumb dumb, surely you can make up a potential kidnapping without the women being stupid.

And Nate, oh Nate, you had one job!!!!

Having said that I did like Gracelynn and Nate. The drama kept me interested. It was good too see Ghost and his team make an appearance.

like the author but this books sucks

Gracelynn is seriously so stupid and it hurts me to continue to read how weak she is. I like most of Blakelys books but sometimes she leans too much on making the h’s personality and wanting to either make them seem strong but they are actually being bitchy or have them being sweet and good with everyone but they act stupid and and whiney like gracelynn. There is a middle ground and it needs to be found because I hate reading about weak woman and especially having a female author write/create a weak woman. it’s annoying.

Rescuing Gracelynn

What a ride! Nate swore he'd never fall in love or utter those 3 words to any woman. Then Nate met Gracelynn and she turned his world upside down, but he was still holding out. Well, until Gracie disappeared while he was gone on a mission, then he realized he did really care for one woman. Little did he know what all the two of them would go through just trying to make it to the end.
