Relationships & self discovery are the main topics that the writer concerns themselves with, & these things are examined through a spiritual and inspirational (and obviously poetic) lens. Jo-Anne Santos writes with a great deal of control — you can tell she has practiced & honed her craft with a great deal of patience. Every word feels deliberate & hits you, almost like a rock, as you read.

Despite its confessional nature one gets the impression that there are things left unsaid between the lines, which makes for an even better read as you try to connect the dots and find your own meaning within them. Either way, this is a body of work that leaves you feeling as though you’ve just had a conversation with an old, dear friend. It’s comforting, and real.

Growing Wings is a poetry collection for those looking to feel inspired and find meaning in their struggles. As the title implies, it’s about finding balance & then growing towards that. About looking forward, & hardly ever back.
