Van awakens to find that he is a clone of the infamous Gun Sage, a powerful essence user who has mastered every firearm and achieved an incredible amount of power, and an incredible number of enemies. The edges of human territory are filled with mining worlds where the only sort of peace one might find is brought about by a sheriff, they are hard places to survive where everyone is running from something.
On the run Van meets up with a woman who is also a clone, and has as many secrets chasing her as she does. A powerful user of essence she begins to teach him, helping him to find his own path.
If Van is going to survive in this universe he must grow stronger, train harder, think smarter. Van must become the new Gun Sage.
As I was reading this, I was thinking Final fantasy. I love FF series, especially FF 7 and 8. Please write more Gun Sage . I really love what you are doing here. More!
I am giving this one 5 stars for several reasons. The first is obviously because I enjoyed this book immensely. For me, this book was too short. I wanted to read more of the adventure.
My second reason is, most authors on Amazon today pump out a lot of books but do not care about the books or the reader and do not grow as an author. Skylar Grant is not one of those.
This author has always been good at coming up with great ideas and stories, but had issues with awkward dialog and very poor grammar.
He isn't an English teacher, but his spelling and grammar have gotten much better. There were quite a few mistakes in this book with commas and incorrect words but he has improved an amazing amount. Few authors today even try to improve.
If you don't believe my words, read some of his early works and read my reviews on them. I didn't cut him any slack and called him out on it then.
I still call him out and want him to get a proper editor, but I have to say he has improved and I very much hope he continues to improve.
Well done book, well done story and I look forward to the next book in this series and any other tales he decides to write.
The book is kind of slow and a bit haphazard. You get to about half way through and barely anything happens, and what is happening is just a series of unfortunate or fortunate events, the main characters are barely planning and nothing is going according to plan, from the people they meet to the places they go to they are like leefs blowing in the wind. They are also pretty week and barely getting stronger until towards the end.
I'm a fan of Skyler, that being said I'm not a fan of cultivation generally but this was pretty good. The story itself feels like his Centauri universe, two main power varieties, spaceships, beautiful people. It seems like he'll be including a more even mix of genders this time so it won't be a cast full of women again which is something I'm a fan of as well. Looking forwards to this series.
A combination of martial arts and science fiction. Defiantly not like your normal space adventure and your drawn into the story right at the start. The development of each character is similar but different perspective from each other which draws you in.
Saying that this is a cultivation novel is a bit of a stretch. It's really a space western with some cultivation elements. Most of the book is spent either running from bandits or chasing them in a Wild West setting. So long as you keep that in mind, you'll have a good time.
The pace of the book is excellent. The story line is fun. Sort of the western version of zero to hero and now I want to read more. Well done, Skylar Grant.
