Rescued by the Scot is the third book in the Romancing the Spies series by Laura A. Barnes. This has been an interesting and fun series to read. Although the stories contain quite a bit of drama and violence- and I was held in suspense quite a bit- there is also a charming quality to it as well. This story is an intriguing and action-packed historical romance that has kidnapping, hidden agendas, mystery, suspense, adventure, drama, betrayal, espionage, danger, action, seduction, chemistry, romance, and passion. This is the third book in the series, and could be read as a standalone, but having said that, this book may focus on a different couple than the first and second books, but there is a continuing storyline that bridges all the books, so I really recommend reading all the books to help build a better understanding of characters, backstory, and motivations.
Zane Maxwell is a recurring character in the series, whom I was hoping we would get to see much more of. Well, we certainly get to do that in this story. Skye is a fantastic character and the chemistry between her and Zane was intense. They really were so great together. But, Ms. Barnes doesn’t make thing easy for them- they have to work for their happiness. We also get to catch up with the characters from the previous books, which I appreciated. I am hoping that this isn’t the end of the Romancing the Spies series- hopefully there is more to come.
A wonderful addition to the series and my favourite of the three!

The story Rescued By the Scot by Laura A. Barnes is a wonderful romance book that I loved reading. It is a story that had me hooked from the very beginning and I found myself getting lost in it. It is a story that has plenty of heat and passion. I loved reading about the characters of Zane Maxwell and Skye MacKinnon. Zane is handsome, charming, and a prisoner of Sky MacKinnon. He has a reputation with women which follows him everywhere. He has never felt the need to settle down and have a family. He has somehow found himself under the spell of Skye. He finds himself with a deep attraction/connection to her. Skye is a strong, independent, stubborn, and resourceful woman. She too has found herself very attracted to Zane, the man that she holds as her prisoner. He has affected her unlike anyone else ever has. She also has deceitful plans that she is putting in motion. What happens next leads to her experiencing fear when around others. Will Skye be able to overcome her fears and proclaim her love for Zane? Will Zane be able to show Skye that she has nothing to fear from him or will her fear put her out of his reach? What does the future hold for Zane and Skye? Will they get an HEA? Read this book to find out. I enjoyed reading about Skye and Zane. How they react and banter back and forth. There is both passion and desire when they are near each other and this story does include some very steamy scenes. They are both characters that I grew to love with each chapter that I read. When reading about them I was really able to feel the emotional connection that they felt for each other. I also enjoyed reading about the other characters and their part in the story, as well as their interactions with Zane and Skye. It is a book I would highly recommend reading.

Zane is a wild man and a rogue. All the ladies love him, and he readily obliges them. But he has another side to his life. He is bent on destroying an evil man out to destroy England. Although he works for England, there is a more personal agenda he is trying to obtain. One no one knows about. But things do not go smoothly for him. When he thinks the end is near, he meets her. A lovely woman with the greenest eyes and wonderful Scottish accent. She is an enemy, but he still can't stop fantasizing about her.

Skye is on a mission to trade arms with a man she knows to be evil when she sees a prisoner aboard his ship. He can help her succeed in her mission, so she gets him released. She just needs to use him until she can find her brother. But she is not the woman Zane thinks she is. In fact she is so much more. She is only supposed to hold onto him until she gets what she was promised. But each day with him makes her want him more and more. Has Zane go ally met his match in Skye?

If you have read the rest of the series, I know you wanted to read more about Zane. He is such a complicated character. You know he is driven by his heart, even if it doesn't seem like it. You want to know if he can finally meet a woman while will make him want to settle down. This book has it all. You learn more about him and meet another wonderful character in Skye. She is something else, but you can't help but love her. The adventure and action is also in this book too. Many things happen, and you will be on the edge of your seat trying to find out just what happens next.

A historical romance with lots of action and adventure, I recommend this book and series.

Rescued By the Scot (Romancing the Spies #3) by Laura A. Barnes was just as cheesy, steamy and entertaining as the other books, and might, just might be my fav of the three.

Not my first read by this author or in this series, though these books follow different MC's, they do have a continuation plot that started in the first book, so I highly suggest you go back and start with book one, just so you're not confused or lost with some aspects of this book.

This book follows the "rescue" of Zane Maxwell, he was a major player in book one and again in book two. This is where you need to go back and read the other books, to know his character and understand the position he's in and the one when find him in at the start of this book. He's a good character and one I enjoyed reading about from the the start and I'm happy to be finally getting to really know him in this instalment.

Skye MacKinnon, she was quite the surprising character, and one that I liked. Strong willed, sexy, and just a foxy, wicket character. She really made this story into something special. She captured Zane's heart and he hers. Though still on the cheesy scale, I feel like out of the three, this story was, just so much more. It was more like they rescued each other, and I just have nothing bad to say. I want to be Skye's friend.

Overall this book was a wickedly epic addition to the Romancing the Spies series. Outside of the steamy romance, is action, betrayal, redemption, and a fully satisfying ending that left me wanting more from this wonderful historical fictional world. I give this book my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Rescued by the Scot by Laura A. Barnes is a great romance novel that tied all of the other romancing the spy series together beautifully. Following the story of Zane Maxwell and Skye MacKinnon, who’s romance knocked me for a loop from the beginning and didn’t let go until the last page. Zane is a charming man who happens to be a prisoner of Skye’s. With the reputation of man who could get any woman he wants, and even some that he doesn’t want, the need to settle down has never gotten hold of him. There is something about Skye though, the way that she is able to rebuff him, turn his advances down, makes Zane only want her more. Skye is a strong, stubborn woman; who just happens to have a strong attraction to Zane. There is just something about him that calls to something inside of her, and yet she can’t derail her life and her plans for a man. There is a fear about Skye that keeps her guard up when it comes to Zane, and it is going to take everything in her to trust in this man and the feelings that he invokes in her. Can Skye trust him to love her in return? Will Zane be able to trust in his feelings for Skye as well? Does a future hold bright things for these two? Barnes is a newer to me author, having just found her with this series, I am happy to say that this series made me a favorite of hers from here on out. If you are looking for a great series and a great author, than this is one that you need to add to your cart now. I can’t wait to see what Barnes to her readers in the future!

Skye is only looking for the safe return of her brother. The last thing she expects is to be drawn into a much more complex and nefarious scheme. When she captures the double agent she never expected to be pulled into an attraction so deep she couldn’t escape. But she is forced to betray him, the man she has come to love.
In doing so Skye is held at the mercy of the same person terrorising Britain. Just when she is on the verge of giving up Zane reappears in her life - only this time he is there to save her. With everything that has happened - to her, between them - Skye has to try and find a way to let her love for Zane win, and not let it be taken away.

I am really enjoying this whole series. I like how, in my opinion each book can be enjoyed as a stand-alone book and yet it also feels like they are all so interconnected. Skye and Zane were great lead characters. Their passion was absolutely sizzling - from that first kiss through to their last. The story was riveting and fast paced. I never felt like t was too slow or lost my attention, which can easily happen when you are getting on in a series. This book was well written and highly enjoyable. Definitely worth a read.

Rescued by the Scot is the third and final book in the Romancing the Spies series from Laura A. Barnes. I would recommend that you read the novels in order even though it has been suggested that they can be read as standalones. They do overlap characters and have continuing storylines that make sense in ways that would not if you hadn’t read the previous two books prior to this one. I will say this is probably my favorite of the three books and it closed out the series in a well-rounded culmination. I would still like to make my suggestion that maybe a new addition of the novels with new covers be released someday. I just don’t think these fit, even for historical, and honestly are often deterrents for me to want to pick up novels that are often good books inside.

In Rescued by the Scot we find Skye looking for her brother and hoping that he is safe when and if he is found. She never saw what was coming nor did she expect to fall for the man she would capture in the process, Zane. To top it all off, she will be forced to give him up and risk breaking both of their hearts. What will happen for these two? Will they both survive with their lives and love intact?

Reading books 1 and not is not super important and reading these books out of order is fine but this set should be read in order to understand all the little background bits.
Reading about Zane in the first book made me feel for him so much. He just wanted someone to love him with all the passion that he has within him and he didn't make as many stupid decisions about other people without looking at all the facts *cough* Thorn and Ivy *cough*
Skye is a fierce woman with a good sense of who she is until Zane saves her from what is certain to be horrendous torture by the vile Captaiin Shears. Skye has fooled Shears before and he does not take kindly to that sort of thing and knows absolutely no decency or mercy for anyone. Even though Zane had been Skye's prisoner, he begins to fall for her and will not allow Shears to shatter and dispose of her.
There were a few bits in this book that seemed to go in circles plotwise but for the most part I enjoyed this installment of Romancing the Spies series. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who enjoys historical romance

Maxwell, Maxwell, Maxwell! After reading books 1 and 2 Maxwell finally gets what he deserves!!! This is my favorite book of the series! There is so much mystery. More questions arise about who the spies really are and who they are spying for! All the questions get answered! Plus, a sneaky little plot twist that I didn’t see coming!

Skye and Maxwell are the main couple in this book, with the couples from the previous books being important secondary characters. They are all out to either start a war with England or kill Shears! That’s the biggest question of this whole series, who is trying to kill Shears and who is trying to “kill” England!

This story was easy to read and while it was an adventure into the lives of spies and the damsels that didn’t always need rescuing, there were parts that made you chuckle.

I recommend this book along with the rest of the series. I will be sure to read anything else this author may write.

This is the third book in the romancing the spies series and the third book that I have absolutely loved! Her stories captivate me from the beginning to the end and her writing just flows seamlessly. Skye and Zane were brilliant characters, so much passion and chemistry between them which resulted in some particularly steamy scenes between them. They had a great connection and I really enjoyed reading about them.
I have yet to find a historical romance writer whose books I cannot wait to read more of by I definitely have in Ms Barnes. I absolutely adore her writing, her attention to detail in both the settings for the stories and the amazing characters she creates. This book could be read as a standalone however I would also highly recommend books 1 and 2 you will not be disappointed!
I can’t wait for more from this author in the future!

I just am in awe of this series. I have read all three books in this series and I am just as hooked on this one as
I was on book one. These are such a great period romance read. I find the author is quite good at luring the reader
in and you just cannot put the book down.

Zane and Skye have such a steaming chemistry that you can feel it coming off of the pages. I was very drawn into the drama in this book as
it began to play out. I always deep down inside knew that Zane wasnt as bad as he tried to put across. The author really
wrote his character quite well. I was quite pleased that this book was able to tie things up real nice. I really find this
authors writing style refreshing and I would like to read more from her in the future.

This is entertaining, romantic and intense. Zane is determined, bold, daring and charming. Skye is tough, stubborn, impulsive and bold. Skye rescues Zane from a despicable captain when she goes to make a deal for her brother, but since she can't get her brother, or the guns she expected, she decides to keep Zane for 30 days, then trade him back. Zane has been trying to catch this captain and all of his cohorts for a long time, while searching for a treasure, and a missing bastard heir to the King. Skye has been trying to take down the captain too, and they could work together, but neither trusts the other. The action and drama are non stop throughout the storyline, and it has some very intriguing characters.

Rescued By the Scot By Laura A. Barnes. This is my favorite story by this author, don’t get me wrong the others are great also. But this one just hooked me on an entirely different level. From page one the author takes readers on a journey you won’t forget. Zane and Skye immediately drag you into their world where you feel every single emotion the author writes into the story. The chemistry between the characters jumps off the pages. I couldn’t put this book down until the very end and I just couldn’t ask for a better story. I’m only sad it had to end. The author has an eye for details and brings the book alive before your eyes. The storyline is well written and paced nicely. Characters are realistic and connectable. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it.

Rescued by the Scot by Laura Barnes. This is the 3rd and final book in the Romancing the Spies series and I'm sad. I loved this series and didn't want it to end. Zane Maxwell is a ladies man and has never really wanted to settle down until he comes in contact with Skye MacKinnon. He is intrigued and has a connection with her right away even though he is her prisoner. Skye has found herself very attracted to him as well but she has to concentrate on getting her brother safely returned to her. Skye ends up lying to Zane to help her plan succeed and in return he has to rescue her. Will Skye and Zane fight off their fears to love one another or will their devious plans keep them from one another. Read Rescued by the Scot to find out. You won't be disappointed!

Rescued by the Scot written by Laura Barnes is book three in the Romancing the Spies series. If you read the previous two stories you are familiar with Zane and Skye to an extent but rescued by the Scott is the conclusion to their push and pull relationship. This is where all that denial, want, and lust all come to a head and it is such a well written story you want to finish it the moment you start reading. Some of the past characters are brought back into the story as they finally defeat the one person who has managed to do a lot of damage throughout the stories. This is a romance you won’t want to miss.

I recommend reading the first two books in this series as well if you haven't already. I was hooked from the beginning and had a hard time putting it down once I started reading it . The authors style of writing pulls you in and you feel like you are right there with the characters. Do you like a little action and romance? Laura A. Barnes' Rescued by the Scot is the third novel in the Romancing the Spies series. This historical romance was a reading pleasure to include the historical depictions, character development and the level of detail that went into this story that made it feel complete & full. I have read the previous two books within this series and the each hold their own, as well as, complimenting each other as part of the series. Zane and Skye were wonderfully paired in Rescued by the Scot - taking in their fiery connection and all the adventure that follows. Any fan of historical novels or those within a series should grab this book, an excellent read.

A story of honor, duty, betrayal, espionage and love. This story was set in A time where doing for your country was priority number one. That king and country were to be honored and respected. The author definitely through some loops in there. I wasn’t expecting Skye to be who she was. She was very brave and courageous to establish her life the way she did. She put a lot on the line and got burned. I didn’t really understand her reasoning at the end there if she didn’t fear him. I liked the story but a little confused when the author kept using different names for Maxwell in the same paragraph. Overall a good read.

This is my 1st read and review for this author and what a fantastic story it is. Skye and Zane have a immediate attraction she saves his life but it’s for her own agenda. Zane has always been a ladies man never wanting to settle down until he meets Skye, Skye is aboard a ship a man that she knows is evil she’s there to do business with him but what she finds instead is a prisoner that she can use for her own agenda. Skye and Zane have such hot chemistry the sex scenes made my kindle smoke, with plenty of action and adventure and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages. I loved every page of this story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

This is the third book in this series and it keeps getting better with every book that I read. I love this author's writing skills and attention to details. Her characters are connectable and loveable. They have a way of making the story flow with ease and making you feel as if you are right there with them. I love the chemistry between Zane and Skye, attraction from the start. They bring action and romance to this story, I couldn't put it down until the last page. I highly recommend this book

This book held me until the very end. I loved the romance that grew between Skye and Maxwell, and all the twists and turns as they learned that trust was the most important thing for them to learn. This story had it all, love, friendship, betrayal, mystery and more. The characters are very well presented, so believable and very sexy. A little bit of a spicy read, but so worth it! This is the first book I have read from Laura Barnes, but for sure not my last.

Rescued By the Scot, by: Laura Barnes is the third and final book in the rescuing the spies series. I have loved all of these books, but this one was my favorite! Although the ending gave me a serious book hangover, because these characters felt so real and I was consumed by their story. I really enjoyed this authors series, and would absolutely read other things by her. I give this book 5 stars!

This is the third book in the series and it was another wonderful adventure. Once again, the characters worked together well. There was action, adventure, mystery, suspense and romance. Although it can be read as a standalone, it is much better to read them in series as it is a continued story. There were a few sex scenes but this reviewer as usual skipped them and it didn’t affect my enjoyment of the story.
