Ethell, whose nickname in the air was "Fighter Writer," was the author of fifty-nine books and more than one thousand magazine articles, many dealing with World War II aviation. Born the son of a fighter pilot on March Air Force Base in Riverside, California, Ethell was prevented from joining the Air Force because he lacked 20/20 vision. He went on, however, to log more than 5000 hours of flight time in more than 215 types of military aircraft and became an honorary member of the American Fighter Aces Association, whose pilots have scored five or more combat victories. Ethell was also leader in the international "warbirds" movement, an effort to preserve aging military aircraft.

Warbirds is a nonfiction that focuses alot on the fighter that contributed most in world war two. The Author that wrote this is Jeffrey L Ethell is a full-time aviation pilot and writer. He wrote dozens of books and articles and has flew more than 150 types of aircraft. The book mostly talks about three aircraft that were well known in the war, p-38 Lightning, p-40 Warhawk, and p-51 Mustang.

The p-38 Lightning was one of the greatest American fighters at the time it was reliable and was flown in many different variations and models. It is a two engined fighter that was flown by many great pilots three of them are the best in the U.S.

The next fighter that is on the list is the P-40 Warhawk, it was the U.S. Army Air Force's most important fighter in the Pacific War. It fought many japanese places and had great success even though it was less maneuverable. The P-40 was pilot's choice because of it’s durability and protection.

And last is the P-51 Mustang Probably one of the greatest propellered plane built at the time. It Outperformed the Mitsubishi zero and could support the bombers flying to japan.

In conclusion all of these facts and a lot more in the book are very interesting but this book is not recommended for girls and not many boys would enjoy it, unless you're a World war II buff. This book has good postwar legacies of these amazing aircrafts and contains over 200 photographs of rare contemporary color photography from the era. If you're looking for a good informational book about these three aircraft then you should really read this book and explore the amount of facts and pictures it has.

This world war two book focused only on how aerial attacks worked at that time. They had specific types of planes they used. The P51 Mustang was one original plane they used to take down German bases. In my opinion the book is a piece of engineering history. It's a must read and I guaranty you'll love it.
