Any book/plan for creating a healthy diet which doesn't include GRAINS, is bunk. The author suggests that readers (called Ideals (?)) still go get their fast food burger/sandwich, but ask for it in a bowl, burger and toppings minus the bread. Because a fast food burger is a healthier option than the freaking bun!
Nope. Nope. Nope. I'm all about reducing the amount of added sugar you consume, but suggesting that it's healthier to get scrambled eggs and bacon from McDonald's at any time of the day than eat a piece of whole grain bread is ridiculous.
Good luck selling your coaching program! I'll stick to whole foods which for me, will include grains, beans, and wheat.
The main focus of this book is to release the emotional blocks that cause you to gain weight. The weight loss advice is to not eat sugar and bread. The rest of the book is all about what we hold on to in addition to the weight. It's not a bad book, but I can see a lot of people being disappointed.
This is low carb and sugar emphasized at first, as only sugar, but then it goes to the Keto/Atkins or as close as you can get and as much as she says keep it simple, it is a lot of work to do everything in this. On top of the weekly notes, weigh ins, daily yes/no (s), etc... there are a lot, a lot of DIET rules not including sugar like, no alcohol, eat pizza toppings not the crust, eat sweet potatoes not white potatoes, eat sandwiches with a lettuce wrap or the leave the bun/bread,... are we starting to see the diet choices? Anyone?, sounds a lot like Atkins (now Keto).
So the beginning of the program, "added sugar is making us fat", yep, heard that before and it take a whole change to your diet. Then to get there it is a help program with a big sell on the 8toyouridealweight website and coaches and groups. Think different, don't use the word "diet" or "weight lost" lost should be release as we don't want to find it. Yeh, no. That is a different meaning for the same word and I not confused. The beginning of this book sounds good but as I get into it, it is all the same thing and her "too many things" and "the diet was like a full time job" umm... so is what you are selling here.
How do you stay on a low carb diet, that is what is being sold, simply put. She makes sure to add cutting out artificial sweeteners too, which most programs do today as they create cravings for carbs. How do you stay on it and exercise and get healthy, by having a support circle and a coach. This might give you some ideas on getting the clutter of life out of your daily life so it doesn't affect your eating but I don't think it'll be a workable answer for the majority of people. Learning how to resolve your emotional issues, very simple steps, which are "I feel..." and other word manipulation that today doesn't work as well as people recognize this statement as "You". As soon as I hear that "I feel..." I feel manipulated, yep that is an answer too that contradicts that. So I don't much agree with her "fix" for the emotions as those complicate feelings takes a lot more than the "simple" course of this. Some of these steps might help but it is not a fix. She found something, and other's have with these tactics, but that is what they are. Some are good ideas and some just sounds like a manipulation to try to get yourself to "believe" in you. I would rather truly believe in myself than talk a certain way to fool yourself.
I like some of her self prop exercises but don't think I take much more from it. Saying the 3 gratitudes nightly might be my only take away.
More claptrap than diet waste of money one of the worst diet books there is in my opinion the basic advice of this book is to cut out bread and swap potatoes for sweet potatoes tips you have all heard on sure
I am impressed so far with the depth of the mental preparation for this program. I'm not very far along with the Hoopla audio book version. Changing your habits, kicking sugar, mindfulness around eating is not a step to be taken lightly. With proper preparation, this could be a lifetime change.
The concept of a low sugar / processed carb diet isn't new. I still enjoyed the sections regarding the mental and psychological practice to learn how to resist temptations, putting down invites politely, without feeling guilty and giving in.
