My first by Ms.Spark, I was quite dissapointed. From the first moment the hs met, the attraction switch was on high alert but up to 51%, there were hardly any scenes of them together and their rare conversations centered on work.

The major issue - hiding their sexual orientation. They hs and Scott had strong reasons for not coming out however Ms.Spark became ambitious and threw in a few more curve balls. Instead of making the story interesting, it became a total clusterfuck.

A special shout out to Rose-Julia's mum and Stacey-Alice's bestie. They were the gems of the story.

Remain part of the status quo or be your authentic self?

This is a page turning sorry about two women who are keeping their sexuality secret. The first is Julia, who is a brilliant lawyer, who is up for partner. The second is Alice, who is hiding her sexuality from her parents. When Julia and Alice meet there are sparks, but can they stop hiding who they are?

I love these books - and covers! - of Ellie Spark and though they are short, slightly fluffy around the edges, for what they are, they are perfectly formed and a work of soft art! keep them coming!

A wonderful book because it went straight to the heart of the story; two women, lesbians, living in the closet come to a place in their lives where they decide to be their true selves. The angst that goes with the decision isn't drawn out. The dialogue is crisp and the location is experienced through the author's descriptions.

Good book

› “Our life doesn’t always turn out the way we plan. But sometimes that’s because what we plan isn’t supposed to be our life.”

Loved the journey of attraction, recognition, understanding & love as it developed & intensified between Alice & Julia, all while in the midst of a redefining self-discovery to understand & accept their evolving identities!!

Undercover Love

Alice and Julia make a wonderful couple. The chemistry is instantaneous and sparkles. Both MCs have to come out publicly and each have their challenges. This is a sweet romance powered by strong attraction, definitely worth the read. Look forward to more from Ellie Spark. Fitting title.

Julia is a hardworking attorney in San Francisco, close to making partner. Alice delayed college to travel around the world and get far from her homophobic father. Upon her return she earned an Associate's degree in paralegal studies while she works for her best friend as a yoga instructor. One morning, Julia's mother brings her to Alice's yoga class and there's an immediate attraction, but nothing more. When Alice agrees to take a temporary paralegal job in her father's law firm she's assigned to work with Julia.

But both women are in the closet. Alice isn't out to her family and Julia isn't out at work plus she has a pretend romantic relationship with her best friend, a male professional baseball player.

That's the set up and the book isn't bad, but it does have a few flaws. First, the author is clearly not American and uses British terms ("car park" "mate" etc.) that Americans wouldn't use. A read-through by an American beta reader would have caught all of this. Second, it was hard to believe that Julia, who lives in San Francisco, felt so confined to the closet in order to stay in her job. She could have taken her clients and worked at dozens of other places more comfortably.

Masterpiece

Ellie is slowly becoming my favourite author and these series of books are exceptional in that they portray an important lesson and how a change is vital to prove it. We all grew up by the rule of law from a book written by a fool, and that book taught us that the norm was boy meets girl, has babies, gets married, white picket fence etc. The truth hurts with variation and a change is often forgotten about especially if it breaks the rule. Here we have two rule breakers who hide their true self but eventually realise that life is their own to run and choose, not having a book dictate their lives and so a chance meeting is the beginning of enlightenment. Superb storyline and character development and the most fitting H.E.A

Secrets & Lies

What a great story. Julia in a fake relationship with her best friend Scott who is a major league baseball.player. Both are gay and only their family knows. The rest of the world believes they are the golden couple. Julia's mom drags her to yoga class and she is smitten by the beautiful instructor. Intent on going back to her yoga class on the weekend, the.beautiful Alice shows up at her law firm. Her Uncle Thomas is the head of the law firm and she is coming in to intern for Julia. The attraction is there. They both feel the electricity when they are near. Alice isn't out to her family and Julia is undercover for her and Scott's carreer

Cute & fluffy!!

It’s very fast-paced, moving quickly from the first meeting to the happy end—but I didn’t expect much else. It was short, sweet, & fluffy!

There were two minor incidents involving homophobia—one a flashback & one in the present, but they were brief & easily skippable. For the most part the tone of this book is light hearted & accepting.

I’d recommend it if you’re looking for some light hearted & easy to get through. You don’t have to think too hard or worry much—just sit back and enjoy the ride.

This book… wasn't for me. For a title with Love so prominently on the cover, it felt like more of the book wasn't about love, but about , or (to put it in terms of the title) it felt like there was far more Undercover than there was Love in this book.

Even with that, it was on the border between 2 and 3 stars for me. It wasn't a bad book, by any means, but it wasn't what I hoped for either.

Second book of Ellie Spark and I start understand more the way she writes. So this book was more intense, still missing any erotic scene between the characters, however their emotions, their feelings and the dialogue is absolutely perfect. I couldn't put it down, had to read the next and the next page until the end. Beautiful story.

Love in the Closet

A cute love story between a lawyer with a fake high profile relationship and a yoga instructor-turned-paralegal keeping her lifestyle from her family. Some of the story was a little over the top and was missing some needed detail, but it was a good read, over all.

I enjoyed many aspects of this story, including the fake relationship, mom's attempted hookup, and the workplace romance. The characters are pretty well-written, and the dialog flows smoothly, but I don't feel the story is big enough for me to remember it down the road. I would give it 3 1/2 stars, if possible.

I’m a huge fan of the Love... series by Ellie Sparks - her charcters are well developed and multi faceted. The story is light and easy to read and is a typical feel good story with a bit of drama and romance and friendship. I would highly recommend to read this story and to read all the other ones from this series, which are all standalone stories.

Excellent book

I loved this book. I loved how both women were attracted to each other but neither one of them were out of the closet to people. Then they took control of their lives and ended up being a couple.

A secret that that is begging to be told.

An arranged friendship between two people who live a lie becomes a mountain because society frowns upon it if their true relationship is revealed. A single person who refuses to express herself to her family. Similarities? Maybe ! Enjoy!

A real fear

Not everyone has the luxury of automatic acceptance when it comes to relationships. Unfortunately, not all are judged equally. Kudos to the brave that chose to be true to self.

Another nice HEA, with two selectively closeted women, from Ms. Spark -- aside from the vivid description of sweaty yoga mats.

This was a fun read, some points felt a little rushed but overall a good story. The two main characters were likable and the plot was good.

Sweet

I loved this love story. The main characters were a bit behind the times with the idea they need to remain in the closet. Well written with a great ending.

would be better if we had about 100 pages more of romantic development instead of insta attraction and coming out then BAM six months later we're moving in together.

Love Undercover — Ellie Spark (9 chapters + 6 months later) Feb. 20-27, 2019

If you follow my reviews, you may have read that I previously read a...oh... [Note: this is a lesbian HEA that is between two consenting adults. If this burns your eyes out, skip and read something else.] ...now back to the story... The previous book I read had a neat plot twist and this one does too.

This story is about a beard and a skirt; queer code for a woman to hangs with a gay and man that hangs with a lesbian as a couple.

It just so happens it's both in this story.

I really liked this story, and although I know how it should turn out and, of course, it did, I wish they would've followed my own fantasy, because that couple really were best friends and I would've liked to seen that develop more. ALAS, that is not what the story is about. Of course not.

Still it was a fast read. (Never mind the 7 days...I read through chapter 8 in a two days and then didn't read chapter 9 until the 27th.) <— I'm kinder to myself in many ways, including not beating myself up if I don't get a book finished right away.

Three stars.
