First Wave:
So, I did this series a bit backwards. I read the second book and then this book. I definitely recommend reading them in order. I loved this intro to the series. Getting to see all of the members of this team and getting a feel for their personalities and how they work together. I liked the murder investigation, the terrorism angle, and this sweet slow burn romance between our mains. There is danger, a military working dog, and their pasts coming up to affect their present. This was a Christian romance and I liked how that was worked into the fabric of the story. It shapes our characters and their worldview. I can't wait for the next book in this series to release and I'm excited to read more from this author.
Second Chance:
This was originally my first book in this series and I could tell I was missing a lot of backstory. After some months I went back and started the series at book one and then came and reread this one. It was even better that time and I noticed even more connections to book one. There is an ongoing mystery in this series. It was a thorough adventure that kept going on. I was definitely fooled by the mystery and the whole interwoven saga.
Third Hour:
I am absolutely devouring this series. It is definitely best read in order, though each book can stand alone, there is an overarching mystery and all of the characters in this team reappear to a high extent in each book. I love this series. The idea of a task force with characters from different lettered agencies is fascinating. I'm liking the law enforcement expertise involved in each book and the interesting and different crimes and criminals that they come up against. These stories are new and fresh and I'm kind of hurrying with this review because I literally can't wait to go start the next book.
Fourth Day:
This book was intense. It was different from the first three as this whole mystery ramps up and comes to a head. I enjoyed these characters and their teams. It was interesting to have these characters come together with a history that I don’t remember hearing anything about previously. It made me wonder if they had cameos in a previous series. That aside, there was plenty of action and danger to keep me enthralled. I’m excited for the conclusion to this series.
Final Stand:
Whew. This was a whirlwind book. Crazy and so many pieces and emotion and turmoil. The past and the present and all of it a tangled web. Based on our views of Victoria these past books.. wow, Phillips definitely did not give her an easy time in this one. I don't even know what to say. This was a top notch thriller with a terrorist bad guy with a huge arsenal of possibilities. I loved our hero and his soft heart for our heroine - his childhood friend. FBI and CIA grow up together and face the world together. Friends hovering on the cusp of more for so long. This was sweet and intense. A great Christian romantic suspense. I'm sad this series is over, but I'm thrilled to head over to another of Phillips', she's got me hooked.
