Overcome by his overwhelming strength, Velvet and crew set off in search for the secrets of Innominat, the source of Artorius's power. But when the truth behind the Abbey's plan is finally revealed, it unravels everything Velvet thought she knew--about the world, the Abbey, and Artorius. In order to defeat Artorius once and for all, Velvet accepts that some sacrifices will need to be made to protect the people she loves most.
Followed the story of the game. The ending extended past the end of the game that I remember. It did cut out alot of the side plots like the other 2 did. The ending past the ending of the game to explain what happened. It also made it make sense how it is connected to "Tales of Zestiria" without the side stories having to be found and played / written.
Volume 3 in my mind is better than volumes 1 and 2. Knowing what will happen also kinda takes away from the suspense of the action scenes but it still is better than volumes 1 and 2.
If they wanted to they could make a volume 4 but it would be more so like what happened between the end of "Tales of Berseria" and "Tales of Zestiria". As there is no real story already made for that that might be a good read.
I'm not sure that anyone will be surprised to hear that the game told the story better than the books [since the game is the original format], but it's true. A lot of great character moments were lost in the shortness of the three-volume retelling, but for what it's worth, I still cried at the end and the art was gorgeous. 4/5 if you were already a fan.
Don't get me wrong, it was good, but the missing content was much more noticeable than in the previous two volumes. They could make a whole series (at least 10-15 volumes) if they had included more elements from the game. The art was really nice though, and i did cry in the end.
Finished the final volume of Tales of Berseria and definitely want to play the game sometime this year (have it on my ps5) velvet such a great protagonist and would love to experience the world in game now with the story lol.
