The First Response Duet
Book 1 – Firefighter’s Unexpected Fling Book 2 – Pregnant with the Paramedic’s Baby
“Royal Doc’s Secret Heir is an emotional romance with all the feels. Author Amy Ruttan once again wove this tale with beautiful prose and witty dialogue. This story was emotional and sexy. Heart-warming and beautiful. As a reader you would be glued to the pages till the end.” —Goodreads
“What an utterly fascinating, fast-paced, engaging read Ms. Ruttan has delivered in this story…and entertaining dialogue that had me loving the growing relationship between the hero and heroine.” —Harlequin Junkie on The Surgeon’s Convenient Husband
Born and raised on the outskirts of Toronto, Ontario Amy fled the big city to settle down with the country boy of her dreams. When she's not furiously typing away at her computer, she's a mom to three wonderful children, who have given her another job as a taxi driver.
A voracious reader, she was given her first romance novel by her grandmother who shared her penchant for a hot romance. From that moment, Amy was hooked by the magical worlds, handsome heroes and sigh worthy romances contained in the pages and she knew what she wanted to be when she grew up.
Life got in the way, and after the birth of her second child, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a romance author.
I’ve not read an Amy Ruttan book in a while and I’m glad I picked up this one. Her writing style is still fresh and imaginative, while keeping me flipping pages to know what will happen next. I felt like I was right there with the characters and couldn’t get enough of this couple.
I met Kody in the first book in the First Response series, but I didn’t need to read that book to know what’s going on. Kody and his daughter, Lucy, are happy enough. Kody isn’t looking for a relationship. Then Dr. Sandra shows up on the scene. I loved the chemistry between them and rooted for Kody and Sandra to get together. I liked the set of circumstances the author throws at the characters and how they work out the problems.
If you’re looking for a fresh take on the surprise pregnancy trope, then give this book a try. Recommended.
PREGNANT WITH THE PARAMEDIC’S BABY by Amy Ruttan is a January 2020 release by Harlequin Medical Romance series.
Kody Davies has no time for love or romance. He has kept his heart locked away after he lost his wife. But with the arrival of new doctor at the station, Sandra Fraser, his intentions are shot. He has a passion-filled night with her.
But what would happen now? It seems she has a huge secret to tell him.
PREGNANT WITH THE PARAMEDIC’S BABY is swoon-worthy romance. Author Amy Ruttan wove this story of friendship, loneliness, love and family amid the medical drama in a spell-binding way to the pages.
Highly recommended for all readers of medical romance.
This story was very good and for me was a page turner, I didn't want it to end . The characters were a perfect fit which made for a good book. Amy hit the ball up the first base line for a triple as she went sliding into the base!
Great characters! With the second book in the First Response duet, Amy Ruttan brings us Kody's story in PREGNANT WITH THE PARAMEDIC'S BABY. If you read the first book in the series, you will recognize Kody and his daughter Lucy from his sister Sally's story. We got to know their story slightly in that book, and this one details the loss he suffered and introduces the new woman in his life!
Doctor Sandra Fraser quickly grabs our heart as we learn the sadness she has suffered at the hands of fate and her ex-husband. Neither she nor Kody are looking for a relationship in their lives right now, but when a moment of passion while stranded in an emergency leads to a baby being on the way, they have to re-evaluate their priorities!
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a surprise baby story with lots of angst along the way. I really enjoyed both books in this duet.
