Susan grew up with her sister, Janet, and her brother, Steven, on an acreage near Des Moines, Iowa, where, besides a jillion stray cats and dogs, two horses, and a pony, her favorite pet and confidant was Rex, her brown-and-white pinto gelding.
Susan has raised two sons, Jeffrey and Patrick, and currently lives in a house that she laughingly refers to as the Landfill and Book Repository. She writes with the help and hindrance of five mischievous shorthaired felines: Gabby, a talkative tortoiseshell calico; Buster, a solid lion-yellow with white legs and facial markings; his sister, Pixie, a tri-color calico; Toonses, a plump black-and-white; and the cheerily diabolical, naughty black tiger Eddie, aka Eduardo de Lover.
Susan is a bookaholic and movie fan who loves cowboys, rodeos, and the American West, past and present. She has an intense interest in storytelling of all kinds and in politics, and she claims the two are often interchangeable.
Susan loves writing complex characters in emotionally intense situations, and hopes her readers enjoy her ranch stories and are uplifted by their happy endings.

Low energy Susan Fox story.
Heroine has a big secret. She's the newly discovered fraternal twin to the hero's adopted sister.
The two sisters decided to keep their secret so the wealthy adoptive family wouldn't be hurt? It really doesn't make sense. The hero is suspicious of the heroine, but he's never insulting.
Before they can spill their secret, the twin is in a dangerous car accident and forgets heroine is her sister.
Meanwhile, heroine rescues two kittens from rattlesnakes and hero rescues her from the snakes. They spend the day together and the next. By then, the concussed sister remembers and the hero proposes.
It felt like a short story rather than a novel.

4 Stars! ~ Marla knew that Jaicey's brother was suspicious of her. Marla had suddenly appeared in Texas and had quickly become his sister's best friend, yet she always evaded his questions about her family and her past. Marla, though in a good job, still had to watch her budget, while Jaicey had financial security. Jake's protective instincts towards his baby sister, told him there was alot more to Marla than she was willing to say. Though Marla wanted desperately to share the secret, it wasn't hers to tell; it was Jaicey's. Yet as she got to know Jake better and their attraction to one another grew, Marla was torn and no longer wanted to keep secrets.
This was a sweet story of a woman torn between loyalty to her fraternal twin sister, and the man she has come to love, her sister's adopted brother. Ms. Fox portrays a troubled Marla with a painful past. Instantly you feel sympathy for her and her struggles. A lovely read.

I really enjoyed this clean, romance. I bought this at our local library book sale and I voluntarily chose to review this story. I've given it a 5* rating. While dealing with several issues, this romance had a lot of feels in it. It even has a couple of kittens in it that was fun. Nice weekend read.

Me parece qué Susan logra entretener al lector, haciendo qué las situaciones románticas sean a su vez graciosas y controvertibles en algunos casos. Muy interesante el hecho de no necesitar escenas eróticas para lograrlo.
Marla es una chica marcada por situaciones tristes en su infancia, por ello tiene tanto miedo de dejarse ver y sentirse a gusto en muchas situaciones.
