Jada x Drew

It has been a while since I read a Sabrina novel, and I really loved it. These preacher's kids are wild and hilarious and a little nutty. Although Jada was a little bratty, I loved her, and I understood her. She is a preacher's kid and grew up in church. She still was still a believer, but her views on God were a little skewed. Drew “The Jet” Julian came back after 4 years, and it was evident he still loved her…despite her bratty behavior and outbursts. I love her and Drew together. Their communication skills needed some work, but I was happy they found their way back to one another. Jakobi and Wesleigh narrated, so you know it was a job super well done.

Thou Shall Not Run was a good book. I liked Jada. She was funny as hell but, she was also bratty, childish, and had a tendency to overreact to the smallest things. Drew really loved her because, he put up with a lot of ish from her. The other Fold siblings were equally hilarious. Especially Angela. Her dry humor had me LOL through the entire book. I loved the characters and the dialogue. Although the book is about a Christian family (Jada's dad is a preacher), the book wasn't overrun with Christian components. I can’t wait to dive into the other books in this series!

Damn!!! Are Christian romances supposed to be this spicy? Is it even a Christian romance?Whew!!! And why are the freakishly nasty ones always preacher’s kids lol
The book was fun and sweet and cute with a little bit of angst and a whole lot of humor.
I loved Drew. I love the family dynamics. Jada frustrated me sometimes with her over exaggerations. Glad she finally let loose and let Drew love on her like she deserved.

A Fold for a cause

Jada and Drew had a history that went from constant companion to Jada hardly able to tolerate Drew. When he came back to town with a green-eyes little thing named Kerri, I could not follow his logic. He claimed to love Jada still, yet he's poking greeny. And Jada's parents situation was soap opera, ripped from TV type stuff. Drew's Granny was a hoot and a holler. The spiritual component was cool with me. It added to Jada's compassion. A good, good read!

A second chance romance about Drew and Jada. They've been in love since they were teenagers and split 4 years ago over what seems to be miscommunication. Drew is back in town and visits the church where Jada's father is the pastor. Jada is determined to keep hating him and steers clear of him every chance she gets.

Jada is a PK, but doesn't trust what she's been taught about faith and trusting God. She uses sex to fulfill the emptiness she feels inside. I liked the spiritual aspect of the book, especially when Jada went to visit her mom. This is like a season of Greenleaf and there is lots of drama in this family. Drew had the patience of Job when dealing with her. They do finally confront what happened and get it together.

The spice made me clutch my pearls 🤣🤣. Jakobi and Wesleigh narrated, so enough said.

Enjoyed this one!! Something about communication goes a long way and these two allowed years to go by before having to finally settle their issue. It was clear that they needed each other. I liked that Jada was a PK and Jet’s character was so yummy. Can’t wait to read the next books in the series.

(4.5) This was a good and quick read

Although Jada was a bit bratty, I loved her personality. She was ready to stand on business on whatever she was feeling at that moment / situation.

You can tell Jet really loved her. I think having that much history makes it hard to let that love go, and I’m glad that deep down neither of them lost it.

I’m sure the family was glad their love was rekindled.

Man First Of All This Book Was Hilarious. But I Shoulda ExpectedThat Because Sabrina Is Crazy As Hell. But I Loved The Fold Family They Are Like So Many Church Families I Know. But Jada Is A Different Bred. You Can’t Just Play With Her Cuz She Gonna Come Back 10 Times Harder. Ms Opal Is My Favorite Tho. Can’t Wait To Read The Next Part Of The Series

Second chance romance, the book was very Christian forward but realistic in the way that they were open about the sex scenes. Neither main character really stood out to me but the plot was funny so it made up for neither of them being unforgettable.

First love!

Jada and Drew were each other's first love. And four years after what was apparently a misunderstanding, they found themselves face to face once again. There were some hilarious situations that took place over a backdrop of church folk doing church business. This was an entertaining read, but I still wasn't 100% clear on what took place to cause the rift between the two leads. It was referenced, and brought up during argument, but it still left me trying to piece together the exact events that drove them apart. I'm a sticker for detail, so maybe it's just me. Although a flashback would have been just the thing to put all my questions to rest. Still a good ready overall!

This book is dry. I tried to get into it, but I just couldn’t. I skipped over paragraphs trying to move this story along and I still couldn’t finish this book. I felt no connection with the characters. The conflict between the main characters was lacking. I didn’t feel any chemistry or passion between the characters. I was simply bored with the story. I only made it about 71% through the book and that is only because I skipped over many paragraphs that just bored me.

Nice Read

Love a happy ending which I’ve come to expect with this author. I also like that the this author makes her male characters humble and relatable. Jayda was a bit irritating. I love Ms. Opal she reminds of the neighborhood grandma. The book did go into the direction of a Christian Romance/ Fiction which isn’t my personal preference but it was still a good read.

These Folds are gonna be a problem!

Whew, chile! I can see Sabrina didn’t come to play any games with this series. My virgin eyes almost couldn’t take the steaminess of the opening scene. But this book was so much more than that. It was about living your truth, forgiveness, and unconditional love. I can’t wait until the next book!

The Fold

This HEA makes you believe in love again. Jadalynn and Drew get a second chance at love. But first they had to come face to face with some issues. And stop running from each other!
I can't wait for more of their story.
Sabrina always bring to life realistic stories of romance with the 🔥🔥🔥!

So ... I listened to the audiobook, obviously ...
But I'm trying to write the review 10/18 instead of you know, right when I read it >.<

So the problem is ... I can't ... I'm not 100% sure if this was the book I'm thinking of, and unfortunately the blurb gives me nothing and all the "reviews" are so generic as to be useless for detail or recognition too - they could be for any given number of books.

THAT BEING SAID - if I'm right ... this is the book where the heroine is the daughter of a pastor, and her love interest- this is a second chance love and I THINK he's ... the Olympian? [Based on what I remember and none of the other books before or after being this one...]

One thing that kinda leapt out to me - for a few books, is the deeply religious aspect and the super raunchiness. A bit of a dichotomy and cognitive dissonance, but not a deal breaker.

In fact the book starts out with the heroine doing a thing with her fuckbuddy ... (I think she's blowing him, iirc?) then rushing to her [nephew? neice's? baptism...] she runs into her ~HS flame...
Annoyingly HE has a girlfriend ...
It's a bit of a mess because I think he continues to have sex with her?

Anyway .

Ugh now I'm wondering if I totally mixed this up with another book, but it's not worth using one of my loan slots on just read/skimming it - especially considering it was an audiobook - to check...

I think think THINK THINK THINK maybe maybe ... this is the one where the heroine is a radio deejay - and the hero is an Olympian - and anyway he has a charity thing and shows up at her show to be interviewed/do a promo - and she's mad at him for ambushing her at work since he knew he'd be there and didn't let her know...

They spend time at the ~meet/charity thing ...
He has an asthma attack; he's got severe asthma but is still a sprinter I think.
Jadalynn being his former bestie and young love is the ~only one who knows where his inhaler is, she goes to the hospital with him ...

they hang out more and I guess you know - they end up re-falling in love; the rest of the details are hazy and less interesting? :X
It seemed iirc to move very quickly after that.

I liked it but it wasn't that memorable/the ~last half?
I did like her little brother; I THINK she and her mom had some deeply religious meditation thing?
[And her mom is now a lesbian?] And her dad is super overbearing?]

Eh

Obviously I don't feel comfortable rating it but I'd probably say ...

I wrote my review and waited a day before I posted it. I hoped that by waiting, my dislike of Jada would be less intense. NOPE!

Jada had a very unpleasant personality. How was she going to accuse Drew of leading Kari on? She had avoided him for over 4 YEARS! Jada had no idea what his relationship was with Kari. Drew was honest with Kari about how he felt, and he ended the relationship with Kari. Jada was ridiculous.

She seemed quick to blame everyone for whatever she didn't agree with. The best thing Drew could have done for himself was to avoid Jada's short tempered, self centered, triflin', impatient, childish personality. Jada did not seem to take responsibility for anything. She was constantly having a fit and it wasn't cute.

She wanted to blame Drew because she gave him an ultimatum and he didn't go along with her program. She wanted to dictate to him how he should end a previous relationship. She couldn't explain what she had been trying to tell him, so she blamed him. She was rude and insensitive.

Jada's general attitude made this entire book distasteful. She even had consistent attitude with her siblings. I didn't find this book romantic at all. I didn't like Jada and couldn't get beyond her selfishness or the way she wanted to always throw God into the mix. Drew needed some counseling if he only thought of his relationship with Jada as being challenging.

The best thing about this book was the narration. It was done by two of my favorite narrators Wesleigh Siobhan and Jakobi Diem. Had it not been for them, I doubt I would have finished this book.

I don't believe in judging any author's work based on one book. I plan to read or listen to the next book in the series. I would advise you to read and judge for yourself. I may find Jada's personality off putting, but someone else may love her.

This series came across as a suggestion to me. It was my first by this author. I think the author definitely created some memorable characters. Jayda and Drew were relatable. Scales is a good storyteller and created a world with the church as the center effortlessly. Jayda’s father, the pastor, was spot on and I enjoyed how she wrote his sermon scenes and the reactions of the congregation and MC etc...
So here it comes, I have traditional conservative Christian beliefs and values and still believe in the purity of the scriptures. I think that Scales subtly pushed an extremely liberal spiritual viewpoint. As a reader I understood that Scales wanted people to see Christians as humans with flaws because that’s completely true, but in my opinion she pushed the envelope here. From the main characters using profanity right in the church as if it were commonplace without rebuke to insinuating God’s approval of Jayda’s mother’s choices. She painted Jayda’s mother as someone who frankly seemed to have a more intimate relationship with God than did her ex-husband who was the pastor. I get that Scales was trying to get people to see her theme of accepting people as they are, but using God and the gifts etc was a push for me. The closet scene was a bit uncomfortable for my taste. I skipped past most of it to get to the best part of the book which was the love story between Jayda and Drew.
All of the supporting characters, who would eventually have their stories told were strong and written well. I enjoyed most of this and so of course I picked up the second installment.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: NARRATION:5 stars, WRITING: 3 stars, OVERALL: 4 stars. I listened to the complete box set of The Folds, narrated by Wesleigh Siobhan and Jakobi Diem. These are my first books by this author. The premise of these books is that each one highlights the love story of one of three siblings. The siblings are preacher’s kids who are all saved, but worldly at the same time. While the stories themselves are good, the writing is weak in places. The author does a good job of creating chemistry between the main characters, but sometimes the backstory outshines the main story. For example the relationship between the parents throughout all 3 books, Taya’s whole chaotic life (in book 2), and the death of Damien’s baby mama (in book 3).

This is an example of narration elevating a book to the next level. I am a Jakobi Diem stan. I listened to this because I had just finished reading a heavy book and needed to get lost in his voice. He did not disappoint and neither does Wesleigh. The narration is SPOT ON, even in places the story is weak, the voice acting keeps you going.

Book one in The Fold series by Sabrina B Scales narrated by Jakobi Diem and Wesleigh Siobhan.
Jadalynn is a very successful radio host and a big loving family that is very present in her father’s church.
Andrew is a Olympic medalist that has love and lost Jadalynn in high school and college but unfortunately separated and went there own way but to be honest I don’t think they really understand why they separated.
This is a great book and hilarious and surprisingly not filled with sex scenes but when they happen they are so hot.
Absolutely adore Wesleigh Siobhan narration and accent she does an amazing job and so does Jakobi Diem.
Only thing I’m not a fan of is the N word used in the book even though it is used a non offensive way but thats my personal opinion.
Definitely looking forward to two other books in series

Jada and Drew...church and the sinners

Jada is a preachers kid, a morning radio personality, an unrepentant sinner, and an outspoken young woman. Drew is a gold medal winner in track and field, a severe asthmatic, a devoted son/grandson, and a heartthrob.

Jada and Drew were childhood lovebirds who grew into college sweethearts. As with many young lovers, they broke up and went their own separate ways, four years prior to the start of this story. They end up in each other's presence after not seeing each other for years. This is their love story.

I liked this novel. It was short and sweet. I'm looking forward to reading the other two books in this series.

A Familiar Read

Hmmm 🧐, I think I read this book before? This book’s content was very familiar. Nonetheless, “The Fold: Thou Shall Not Run the was a good read. Foremost, the banter between the Fold siblings was hilarious 🤣 😂🤭! Thereafter, both Jadalynn (Jada) & Andrew (Drew) adolescent memories, unresolved emotions, immature behaviors and or response towards each other was annoying & juvenile. …Did Drew ever return the his class ring/necklace to Jada🤔? They needed time apart to mature, learn how to communicate and appreciate each other as adults. Otherwise, this relationship was enviable. Jada & Drew are a cute couple!

Audiobook-3.5 stars—I enjoyed this cute romance with a bit of the Lord mixed in! 😊 Jada and Andrew have a second chance at romance after their young love was extinguished years ago. Joining them on the ride to figure out what went wrong, who was right (or wrong) and whether they can get right again was very entertaining. I look forward to reading the rest of the series and getting to know the Fold’s a bit better.

Amazing Love Story

A really good love story of two people who never loss their bond and love for one another even after parting ways for a few years. Although while trying to be stubborn and prideful, love will always prevail and it showed on these pages. If you are looking for a great love story this is your next book!!!!!! This was my first read by this author and I must say JOB WELL DONE Sabrina!!!!!!!!! I truly enjoyed this and will be starting the next one soon!

Good read

Not sure why I put off starting this series but SHAME ON ME for doing so.
Jada and Drew was a second chance romance that was filled pain due to Jada's struggle to let go of the past. Once she stopped running from her feelings, listening to Drew, accepting her part in their past breakup and taking a chance on love these two could start on their HEA. Can't wait to read book two.

I enjoyed reading Jada and Drew's story. It being set in and around the church tugged at me as a self proclaimed church girl my self lol. Drew made it known every chance he got that he still loved Jada to the point that I was almost annoyed she kept him waiting so long knowing she loved him too. I almost felt sorry for Kerri but she knew she was in a situationship with a man who's heart belonged to someone else. I'm all in and can't wait to read the rest of the stories in this series.
