Novelist and freelancer Zandra Turner is finding it tough to get work when a mysterious envelope brings a job offer to research the history of Gatesworld Manor. The estate manager seems evasive, the housekeeper borders on rude, but that is not all that’s wrong with Gatesworld manor. How is it possible that the layout of the manor changes with rooms and hallways that come and go? And who is the woman that Zandra hears crying in the night? But more than anything how can it be day and night at the same time? As Zandra enters into a battle for her soul the world she finds herself in closes in around her, and Zandra’s existence hangs in the balance. Will she manage to find her way out of the manor and back to her life, or will the manor claim her life forever?

This was a really captivating story. It was quick and easy to read at 104 pages. I found the manor an interesting setting for the book. I liked how Zandra would walk up and down passageways in the manor and the next time she went down them, rooms seemed to have disappeared, or moved to another floor. And then there was the crying woman at night. And the strange, unfriendly housekeeper Emily. Plus the mysterious estate manager Michael Hardcastle who offered Zandra the job.
A fast and very enjoyable read! I look forward to reading more books by Cat Knight.

She has plenty of dusty volumes of books, but where is the deed? The money is good. There are two staff members with her and they reassure her she has all that she needs to write the history of the house.
What aren’t they telling her? Why all of the secrets? They tell her to stay in the house and not wander as well, but why?

This is a haunting thrill ride that will keep your attention and keep you turning the pages. A very different twist to a haunted house mystery, it will have you second-guessing your predictions on how it will go as each and every chapter passes. Great descriptors give you believable characters in a super believable setting with a well-told and chilling story.

Cat Knight's stories are quite formulaic. A person from the past suffers some kind of loss and then haunts a main character in the present, until they get what they want, after which they disappear. This story kind-of follows that formula, but it flips the script a bit in a way that's pretty cool to think about. 3.5 stars.

Another great book from Cat Knight. I truly enjoyed this story. A quick read, but it kept me turning the pages fast and I didn't have it figured out before I got to the end. I highly recommend this book and author to you.

This was the first book I have read by cat knight. I was surprised that this book was able to shock me towards the end . This was a great book.

This was quite a short story and didn't take long to read. I'm giving The Haunting of Gatesworld Manor three stars since it was well written although I think that if the story had been longer, the characters could have been worked on and perhaps given more depth.
I did have a problem with the ending as I couldn't work out how the story reached that conclusion. I felt as though a few more chapters needed to be written to fill in the gaps.
I did enjoy the story up to then and it could be just me who needed more clarification. Otherwise an entertaining read.

2.5 rounded up
I found this book confusing at times. 3 story lines in a way going on and they would blur for me that I was confused. It was different read in where the main character gets invited to a haunted house in a way. Wasn't a fan of this story but it had potential. I've read worse so I rounded this up.

An okay story.
Zandra goes to a house for a job and finds things are not what they seem. I like parts 9f this story. Other times I found it frustrating. Zandra is irritating, at times.

I like that the ending was totally unexpected. Never could figure out what was going on through the whole book until right at the end.

Great short story
I really enjoyed this book. The story was smart, different, and very intriguing. The ending will throw you for a loop.

Waste of time
The short story was well written but for me, it just didn't do it for me. I found it confusing and it really didn't say much. I have read similar stories that actually were stories and am glad this was short. I probably will be very careful in choosing any other books by this author.

I really enjoyed this story like I enjoy them all. I would certainly recommend this read.

What a reversal!
This book is quite a reversal of most ghost stories. It was definitely different. It was a quick and easy read! At first it's confusing but as you read more, it begins to make sense. The ending cleared things up a bit but still left a few loose ends.

I couldn’t get past the 2nd chapter. Grammar & spelling, double word errors and the story didn’t make sense. What female would go off with someone they knew nothing about and couldn’t find on the internet?

Ptetty good!
Enjoyed the book for the most part and I liked the premise but it could have been better. Figured out the ghost part early in the book. Wrapped up a bit too quickly. Not very scary but okay.

A Good Read
This is a theme borrowed from the classic - The Other. A mortal thinks she is being haunted, only to learn it is her that is a ghost. While not 100% original, it is still an interesting novella.

Short book. Didn’t see where the story was going. Not a particularly great read. But that’s my opinion. You may very well enjoy it. I’m not putting the author down as writing style was good. Just the storyline.
