Nothing will ever be the same.

It’s been one year. One year since Dani Britton’s life was blown sky high by shadowy government forces. One year since being pursued by the relentless and unusual hitman, Tom Booker.

She thought she could rebuild her life on Redemption Key, with her equally scarred and traumatized best friend, Sinclair “Choo-Choo” Charbaneaux. But trouble found her there.

So did Tom Booker.

After barely surviving the mayhem of Redemption Key, Dani assumes she has seen everything. She has lost everything. But when the powerful Charbaneaux clan calls their son home for a funeral, she quickly learns just how much more she has to lose.

The countdown to trigger is on.

If Trigger, the latest Dani Britton novel isn’t already on your Kindle or bookshelf you need to remedy that situation. Dani is back and so is the danger that seems to follow her no matter where she goes. After the events of The Widow File and Redemption Key, she and her best friend Choo Choo settle in and start to make a life for themselves. But an unexpected trip home for Choo Choo with Dani sets in motion the events that make this book one heck of a thrill ride. Once back with his family and surround by the wealth and privilege he grew up with, Choo Choo becomes a person Dani doesn’t know and isn’t sure she wants too. Feeling alone Dani is befriended by Cara Hedrick the head of security for Choo Choo’s senator sister. The two hit it off as outsiders to the world they find themselves in, but Cara isn’t what she seems and has an agenda of her own. Her plan, code named trigger, is set to happen in the next fifty hours.

After an explosion separates Dani from “the family” she finds herself face to face with Tom the man who tried to kill her and then found himself questioning his reasons for not doing it. Tom tells Dani he’s there to help her and that she’s being tracked by a device implanted during her recovery. Dani doesn’t want to believe the hold on her goes deeper than she thought, but when other events unfold, she has no choice but to believe. It seems everyone has an agenda and Tom is no different. He’s there to not only save Dani, but to finally break free of his “employers” and start life over with new identities. He’s hoping Dani will join him. Afterall, Tyson Compton and Anna Adkins sound like normal people who could work together, right?

Before anyone can recover, Trigger goes into its final count down, Dani makes a discovery about Choo Choo that makes him a danger to anyone around him. This forces Dani to make a choice that will change everything. Do you save your best friend if it means running towards the danger? Or do you run again and this time never look back. Someone will die, someone will have their life changed forever and we will all learn that corruption almost always runs deep, and that family doesn’t always mean loyalty.

Redling’s characters are brilliantly written. Each one thought out and plotted so well that you either want to see them surviveor get the death they deserve. Some of her characters are named after local residents and if you know them personally, you’ll find lots of Easter eggs. Dani is such a strong, well written character, she’s been borrowed to appear in another author’s book.

Trigger is a great read and will keep you involved, entertained and doubting everyone. I can only hope that I won’t have to wait long for book four.

More Dani and Tom!

Please don't let this be the last book in the series for Dani and Tom! I love this series so much! I always read them in one sitting and then I'm devastated that I read it too quickly. I have loved all your novels but this series is my favorite.

I can't believe I missed this one when it came out. Unfortunately, my memory was a little fuzzy on books 1 & 2 (it's been a while!), but I still enjoyed this one. Characters are engaging. The ongoing conspiracy is a bit depressing (my rose-colored glasses are really showing), but the plot is great. Hopefully their story will continue; I will definitely read more books in this series (and I have a few other books by this author in my virtual TBR pile).

Borrowed from Kindle Unlimited.

It's complicated

I do like the book. When everything is said and done I do like the book but its by far no 2nd book. I don't like the conclusion. It lacks luster to me. So anti climatic. I do t want to ruin the book for anyone but I feel like its not an ending. It's missing a finality. It's now 2025 and no 4th book has been published to this 2019 3rd book. I'm just disappointed. By far the 2nd book Is my favorite. Still a good book to read

great series

I absolutely loved this series. I both listened to and read the first two books, and read the third as it wasn’t in audible. I am really sad that I won’t know what happened next in the characters lives. This was my first time with this author but it won’t be my last.

Great series

There are many twists and turns in these books. When you think you have figured it out, there is another twist in the story. You think you have characters figured out then something happens. Love all three of the series. Can't wait for the next one in the series.

So Good

I couldn't put them down, I read the 3 in 2 days. I did meant to do anything but read them. I hope I see more about Dani. I thought Widow File sounded good but I didn't know how good. It will keep you glued to the very end. I really really enjoyed these.

they couldn’t stop her once she got her anger up

They went for a funeral, got put through the paces of the family clan’s Christmas photo shoot. Got mixed up with the he killer again then Dani almost lost Choo Choo as a friend. Then their world nearly blew up

The dynamic between Dani and Tom fascinates. Interactions between Dani and Choo-Choo are lacking in romantic spark. I'm hoping he gets written out of the next book (not killed), reuniting the far more interesting characters of Dani and Tom.

The Dani books are really a fun read. Nothing heavy just a fun espionage tale! Quick thinking and unlikely hero.

I loved the action in The Widow File and was on the edge of my seat reading Redemption Key, but I'm going to make a big call and say that Trigger is my favourite in the series so far. For readers that haven't read the other two books, the author does touch on previous events that have shaped the lives of the main characters and this book can probably be read as a standalone, but personally, I'd recommend reading the series in order from the beginning, not only because it's fantastic but because a heck of a lot happens in the previous two books that you'll miss a lot of background that really enhances the story.

If it's been a while since you've read Redemption Key, the author provides a great, short recap prior to commencing the main story. I thought this was a nice touch. The story then starts a month after the events of Book 2. We witness a hit on a prominent figure from the point of view of our friendly assassin that we hate to love (but I do it wholeheartedly anyway because there's just something about him), Tom Booker. Choo-Choo is then called back to the not-so-loving arms of his wealthy and well-connected family in Connecticut, taking Dani with him as each doesn't function well without the other. Of course there is more to the story. We're given a new, almost diabolical villain, Cara, who's a fascinatingly complex character, pulling strings for high level and unknown government officials. We're not completely sure what her end game is to start with, just that she's full of ambition and has something huge and unknown planned that involves an unwilling Tom, Dani and Choo-Choo.

I don't want to get into the plot too much as it's one of those books that you're much better off not knowing a lot about for maximum impact. Suffice to say that as you've come to expect from this series, there's government conspiracy aplenty, action, complex relationships between our main characters, criminal activity, intrigue and suspense. What does Cara want with Dani? Will Dani and Choo-Choo's friendship survive the tests it's put through? How can Booker be a cold-blooded killer that makes me tingley when I read each page he features on? I'll keep a personal reflection on the last question to myself lol.

While Dani and Choo-Choo were their usual, fantastic selves, Tom Booker is what really made this book for me. He's been an unknown entity and intriguing character in the precious books and he gets a stack of air time in Trigger with many chapters told from his point of view. I LOVED this. Like, floved it, floved it. It added a great angle to the story and his character is the gift that keeps on giving. He and Dani have complex feelings about each other that they can't quite define due to their history and it adds a great emotional twist throughout the story. The author does a great job of keeping him frightening and cold, while revealing a warmer side to him when he thinks of or is with Dani. It was fabulous and I honestly don't think any future books will grab me unless this dynamic between the two continues to to get stronger and develop. I know this is wrong, but I really want them to end up together. Sorry about getting sidetracked, but the author needs to keep riding this train!

Many chapters are also told from Cara's perspective and this was a really great addition as well. The author did a great job of making me appreciate how deviously genius she was while making me resent the power government and the obscenely wealthy have. She was dangerously brilliant and confident in her ability to wreak havoc as a master manipulator. Dani and Choo-Choo's relationship hits a couple of rocky patches and although there was less from Dani's perspective, the book didn't lack anything for me and still reflected their unique relationship really well.

The story revolves around a countdown to an unknown trigger with the book being set in 2014. I probably would have preferred no years, just dates so that it's not set in the past. A couple of dates at the start also didn't make sense to me as we were given the same dates, but with different days listed with times out of whack. I think this was an oversight and it confused me a lot at the start of the story when I was trying to get back into the swing of the series. Apart from that, the writing was good and I couldn't put it down. As Dani continued to struggle with the events from the first two books, the author perfectly reflected her quirks and anxieties as well as Choo-Choo's inability to define who he is, particularly in regards to his family.

Overall, this was a fantastic read that's worth every cent and already has me tearing my hair out for the next book, which the author said in the blurb at the end of the book that there would be - phew! There was great character development with our 3 main players as well as few more interesting, secondary characters thrown in for good measure. I loved the ending and want more Tom, Dani and Choo-Choo.

I devoured this book. I love the Dani Britton series and the book did not disappoint. I was engaged throughout the ups and downs and was genuinely surprised several times in the book. SG Redling is an amazing writer that kept me wanting more. I was disappointed that I had read the book so quickly.

My plan is to go back and read all three together. I recommend the books for a good clean thriller mystery that engages the audience from the start.

Best Thriller of 2019
S.G. Redling’s Dani Britton series took me by surprise when I read The Widow File. With this, the third installment, Redling has raised the stakes yet again. Redling has created characters to root for, both good and bad, and storylines that will haunt your dreams. I’ve read some terrific thrillers this year by “name” authors. This one deserves an ITW Thriller Award.
