The Light Beyond the Garden Wall

Rate this book
The lost apocrypha of the prophet Isaiah has finally been found...

The Light Beyond the Garden Wall is a tale of how the boy Isaiah came to be known as "The Prophet."

When Isaiah's family is slain on orders from the King of Judah, he is warned in a dream to flee to an enemy land. The boy's path wends through wars and assassins, among brigands and desert queens, olive farmers and prophets, from the darkest dungeons to a garden that lies beyond dreams, and finally, to a mysterious mountain with a secret.

The novel weaves mysticism, wisdom, and spirituality into a tale of hope and love.

I hate to admit this but I put off reading the last chapter for months because I knew I’d have to review the book. I couldn’t delay any longer because of my quest to finish all my unfinished books.

Here’s the deal. The author is my nephew and I really wanted to like this book a lot, not just barely. For a first book, and self published, it could be a lot worse. So super kudos for even doing it when so many others do not. For that I am so very proud. Really so very proud.

And I didn’t hate it, or really even dislike it that much. Just a little. The characters names were too unsettling for me. I felt “icky” using names from sacred text in such a factionalized manner, the obvious similarities were too much for me.

The story and plot though were actually not too bad. Which is why I did read it all the way through.

The artwork inside was very well done, and I do love a book with pictures.

I really don’t like the outside design of the book at all, every time I saw it I was reminded of LDS Hymns and felt surely there was something else that could have been done, even if just changing the color to blue.

I really hate pressing done now and publish this for everyone to see.

The Light Beyond the Garden Wall was touching from beginning to end.

I liked the book in so many ways and for so many reasons. Knowing Isaiah was the most loved prophet in the Old Testament and the most referred to prophet in the New Testament - I wanted to know more of him and how he would overcome his struggles and would he be with his beloved Ruth in the end. With having great loss of loved ones in my life including my 10 year old son it brought me joy for the day when I will receive his precious smile, laughter and totally healed body in God's glorious kingdom of light everlasting!

What a beautifully written book. I could easily believe it was true. It carries a strong message that we can never be tired of hearing. Full of love and laughter and life lessons for all of us. Once you open the book and read the first page you will be driven to get to the last page. Usually I pass my books on to others to read but this one is a keeper!

Spot on

The story well written has reached my soul. The description of the garden and afterlife particularly have painted the scene with which I was touched to tears. Well done! Well described. What I also would hope for when it comes. Thank you!

Spellbinding

Needing an uplifting book to relieve the tensions of the present day I choose this book. It is well worth my time and effort to read and Reacquaint myself with the biblical times if only in fiction form. This book is indeed uplifting.

Beautiful story

I never thought about the backdrop of Isiah’s life and how he became a vessel for God. To think he was given the insight of heaven as his foundation of hope is magnificent.

Good book, very exciting

The book was well written with a good plot. It has great encouragement to live a Godly life. While the book was great, it did have some doctrinal errors in it, but probably according to the author's beliefs.

Not quite sure what to say about this book. It wasn't what I expected. It's well written and the story is interesting. Beyond that, I don't have much else to say.

Beautiful, sad and glorious.

I loved this book. Isaiah is wonderful to read, once you understand the ancient expressions and meanings. My thanks to the author.

This book surprised me.
I didn't think I'd love it as much as I did--or expect it to leave as big an impression on me as it did.
Relatively quick read, but deceptively deep; one of those engaging stories that keeps you reading and then stays with you long after you've finished. Gives you a lot to think about. I love that.
Well written. Lovely illustrations. Overall a powerful little book.
Can't wait for another one from this author!
