From tracking vampires in Transylvania and searching for the elusive monster of Loch Ness to trailing the dangerous Tata Duende through remote villages of Belize and searching for ghosts in Ireland’s haunted castles, Chad has scoured the earth in search of the paranormal.

The more bizarre the legend, the more likely you’ll find Chad there.

This book was easy to read, which was good, because it provides directions to haunted locations as well as background histories. One of the places mention I drive by all the time and never knew its history. Whether or not the hauntings of all these places are real, I don't know. It appears that the only way to check them out for yourself would be to trespass at night, and being as vandals do just that it would be frowned upon by the cops. There might be a way to do this legally. From what I have heard some ghost hunters ask permission or even pay to gain access. Some of the locations mentioned I have heard stories about by experienced ghost hunters and for whatever reason, they are truly creepy. I would recommend this book either for entertainment or a reference guide for those who really want to see what's out there.

Purchased on a whim from Ripley's Believe It or Not in the Wisconsin Dells the day before a ghost tour, Chad Lewis's The Illinois Road Guide to Haunted Locations may be feeling some of its age now, both given ablest language towards people enduring mental illnesses and given the fact that the book is presently old enough to drive, but I found novelty in reading about urban legend spots from my youth in combination with others from my home state. The folklore here is interesting, though I do not know if this book would have much appeal to other readers unless they are more interested in comparative analysis of how similar ghost stories emerge in other parts of the world.

I loved this book it had so much history in it. I love how it gave history on every place and told haunting stories. I would definitely 10 out of 10 recommend to all my friends. There wasn't anything I didn't like about the book. It was awesome to know that it was written by someone local to Southern Illinois. I can't wait to see what other books Chad Lewis has in store. I would love to hear more about the haunted places that have been explored less. I can't wait to see what else these books have to say. My favorite part was when it talked about the haunted graveyard in Johnston City Illinois. I can't wait to read more of the haunted locations books.

I didnt know anything about this book until I saw a add in my local library news letter. Chad Lewis would be speaking about his experences with the supernatural. I picked up a copy and headed over to meet the author. Got the book signed and I was good to go start reading.
This book is a great way to get spooked knowing they might be right down the street from me. Its a guide to the unknown. Each story is broken down into easy parts. The address of location, the history, and the investigation. Some stories I have heard before but some are new and frightfully scary. Quick read but a good book to referance any time you are feeling dearing and want to check out some spirits of your own.
