Welcome to The Grindhouse Experience, a non-profit, interactive, extreme haunt with an exploitation cinema twist. On the night of Halloween, the chosen participants will be kidnapped and taken to the secret location where The Grindhouse Experience will commence.
Within the never-ending labyrinth of The Grindhouse Experience is a place called Monster House… In the year 1977, Jefferson Blake’s notorious horror film, Monster House was unleashed upon the world. The film was banned immediately upon release for acts of gross violence and cruelty towards humans. It is widely believed that the film was a precursor to the real life ‘extreme haunts’ that are so in-vogue right now.
Those who are unlucky enough to enter Monster House during The Grindhouse Experience will learn the true meaning of the word ‘horrific’. The film is widely held to be one of the most disturbing ever made, but it is nothing compared to the real thing.
You are now entering Monster House. Please leave your sanity at the door and just pray that you will get out alive...
Sam West is a British, extreme horror author with more than forty books to her name. If you like your fiction dark, gritty, gory, perverse and truly terrifying, then you're in the right place.
I really enjoyed the first book ‘The Grindhouse Experience’ in this trilogy, and I didn’t think this second book could top it......how wrong I was! Monster House is a really good book, and slightly different from the first, although, there are some characters which are in both books, and it’s obviously still centred around ‘The Grindhouse Experience’, which is kinda like a big movie set in which people can get ‘the’ experience of being in the 1970’s movie. This was full of the usual suspects, blood, gore, graphic violence & sex, and I thought it was well worth the 5 star rating. The ‘dentist’ was perhaps my favourite character 😱
This was so much better than the first book. I liked the characters better, and the storyline itself was so much more fun. The dentist part was great. With the way things ended I find myself really wanting to read the next (and last) in the series. I almost expected the 'twist' to be a similar to the first book, but it wasn't. It was completely different and refreshing. I'm super curious as to how West will continue the series. The back of the book said the third book will come out in 2021, so I'm off to search for it and see if it's out yet
Monster House is the second installment in The Grindhouse Experience books. I couldn’t wait to read this, and was so ecstatic that I waited until this release dropped to read both. But… I was in for a surprise.
Monster House carries the same tonal qualities that The Grindhouse Experience did, only the game has been switched up a bit. Two friends, 19 year old Rhea and 22 year old Summer have decided to sign up for the mysterious grindhouse experience. The only problem is after Rhea’s mom and dad, Holly and Ade, cancel their travel plans for Halloween they become dismayed due to the idea if they’re picked they may lose the experience being that two people will be in the house who didn’t sign the waiver.
Nonetheless, the girls make the most of the night, and decide to binge on some good old Jefferson Blake movies. Their little hearts still hoping that their dreams of being picked will come true. As the night wears on it seems less likely.
Holly is going through menopause, and seems like a curmudgeon of a woman. Ade is seeming to be going through a midlife crisis. It goes without saying their marriage seems to be on the rocks. Also, Rhea, like most teenagers, is simply embarrassed by both of them.
When someone begins pounding on the door everyone is in separate rooms. Holly gets up to answer, and soon Ade is not far behind. He finds Holly gone, and intruders standing in his home. Both Summer and Rhea are on the stairs ecstatic knowing they have been picked, but Ade is scared as hell. However, he is ready to defend his home.
Unfortunately, or fortunately in the girl’s minds, things don’t go according to planned. They are drugged and swept away to the fabled grindhouse experience! All four of them no less!
As the horrors of the night ensue, and the blood begins to flow nothing is what Summer and Rhea previously thought is would be! They are plunged right into the middle of a Hell they wish they never would have signed up for!
I give Monster House by Sam West four and a half stars out of five. Yet again, Sam threw me for another loop! Another cliffhanger! Not as crushing of a blow as the first entry, but now I have to wait for another installment! This is agonizing and exciting all at the same time! I’m ready for book three Sam! I hope it flows out fast, and I can devour the pages as I did with these first two entries! I cannot wait!
I wasn't sure what to expect with this book as I thought it can't be as good as the 1st as it basically going to be the same sort of storyline. How wrong was i? It was exciting, gripping, brutal and on par if not better than the first book. Loved the characters and how we got to know them and all the happenings throughout. From the very beginning of was twisted and continued til the very end. A great read and if definitely recommend.
There is a strange house in front of DJ's abode. DJ is always curious to see what's inside. It belongs to Mr NebberCracker. You see , everybody thinks NebberCracker is a monster. He says nobody should come close to his house , or they would no longer be in this world. One day , DJ's parents go out for an outing , and DJ is stuck with a mean babysitter at home. DJ's friend Chowder had recently bought a new basketball , so comes to show that ball to DJ. While playing , Chowder accidentally tosses it straight to the MONSTER HOUSE. Chowder convinces DJ to go and take it , because he is to young to die. He also thinks that NebberCracker is fast asleep in his room. DJ steps into the weirdo's lawn. As soon as he is going to touch the basketball , NebberCracker appears from nowhere , throws the ball inside his house , yells at DJ a bit and then faints. The ambulance takes him away , but the queer thing left behind is that the grass was trying to pull the cart in which NebberCracker was lying. Moreover since NebberCracker left , there was smoke coming from the chimney. It shows that the house has some kind of connection with Mr NebberCracker. Late night DJ gets a phone call from the vacant house which really freaks him out. He wakes up and stands by the window. The babysitter, Zee's friend scares DJ , and DJ panics. Now , DJ knows that boy. He was Bones. Zee and Bones walk downstairs. Bones tells a story about his awesome kite. Once , he was flying it and it landed right smack in NebberCracker's lawn. NebberCracker took it and never returned. Zee kicks Bones out of the house. He gets attracted with his exclusive kite. He sees it in NebberCracker lawn , and while taking it he gets sucked alive. As an evidence he leaves a bottle of beer outside. The next day , a girl named Jenny is seen stepping in the Monster House. They call her so much , but she doesn't listen , so they run as fast as they can, and somehow manages to save her. They made another trustworthy friend to join their crew. Jenny thinks that it's time to call the police , but the police wont believe them , instead they took them to jail , but the house catches them. Sadly , the children also end up in NEBBERCRACKER'S MONSTER HOUSE. Now, they have discovered that the house is a complete monster , because it has all the body parts a human could have. Suddenly , there is a big splash and the children are in the stomach of the house. The see a type of room with an atypical label which says "CONSTANCE THE GIANTESS." They had found a key in NebberCracker's lawn before they came into the house. DJ uses that key to open the door. There , they find the dead body of NebberCracker's wife Constance. DJ falls on the dead body , and it starts to crack. It is a whole skeleton now. The house comes to know that there is somebody inside so it takes them out. Now there are in the house's throat again. They are in huge trouble. Chowder is hanging with the wall , and DJ has held Chowder's legs , and Jenny is holding DJ's legs. Jenny jumps up and grabs the uvula , and they are thrown out of the house , and that is called a vomit. DJ nearly gets injured , because of the ambulance , and from the ambulance , there comes NebberCracker with a broken arm. HE TALKS WITH Constance , and his own house a bit , and then DJ tells him that he knows about Constance , and NebberCracker gets a little bit mad. DJ asks him that he ate is wife or not , as they have heard rumours about it. The answer was that she died on Halloween. Suddenly , the house turns into a monster , so DJ throws the fire bullet in the chimney to the heart. NebberCracker is free now. All the things which NebberCracker had took he returns them to their rightful owners. Most importantly , Chowder gets his basketball , and Bones is free and so is his kite. And DJ's parents come back from their outing.
Book one was so disgusting that I read part two. Part two was maybe better. An interesting premise with lots of possibilities. The endings to both books were quick but clever. I actually think book three will be good, based on how this one ended. Sick sick sick.
This was nowhere near as brutal as the first one. The ending was pretty predictable and there were far too many mistakes to make it an enjoyable read for me.
