The Elder Stones Saga #5
The Depth of Deceit
A dangerous plan might be the only way to defeat Olander Fahr. With the threat of another attack, Haern must use his new abilities to make a dangerous gambit. Doing so requires he trust someone who has betrayed him once before, and count on others who still don't fully understand the nature of their abilities. If they succeed, they might finally be able to stop Olander Fahr before he manages to acquire another of the Elder Stones.Daniel struggles to understand his connection to the shadows along with what it means that he can sit at the Council of Elders. When a new threat appears, his unique understanding of the shadows might be the key to survival.Lucy continues her search to discover the longer game. With the Architect now imprisoned, she has access to someone who can guide her to where Olander Fahr might attack next, but they remain a step behind. A growing fear that someone has deceived her leads her in a new direction, but it's one that will require her to make a dangerous choice.Isolated within the city of Lexa, Ryn must continue to serve the Great One, but a new challenge to her authority forces her to look for power in a different way.Plans unfold, but for the first time, all begin to wonder if the one behind them is different than who they had believed. And if not Olander Fahr, who is the real threat?

The Depth of Deceit is the fifth book in The Elder Stones Saga by D.K. Holmberg’s. I was drawn into an epic YA fantasy series, with plenty of mystery, and high-stakes. This adventure will definitely appeal to readers who enjoy immersive worlds and adventure quests.
This series follows a sweeping journey where ancient magic, political intrigue, and personal destiny are intertwined — all revolving around the mysterious and powerful Elder Stones.
A richly imagined, steadily-building fantasy saga with heart, intrigue, and an interesting magic system.

Shallow writing .. good storyline
Good story line but in the whole series a lot of serious conversations taking place in the middle of battles. Not realistic..Questions being asked and the answer is that is strategy??..A lot of side characters could have been fleshed out more...I just skip over chapters that say Ryn and still get everything that is happening in the book..better writing please

The power of others
The story possessed many twists that I did not expect. Such
As his power with Hearns power with lorceth and he became stronger even to challenge The Great One. Daniel's realization that there might be more Elder Stones. The Hearn had Elise and Daniel love Ryen. Lucy discovers the secret from Achitecs secret withheld from the Great One. Excitement all through story.

Unexpected even better than its preceding series.
This series left me skeptical that DK could top his last series, but it did and I am bit bummed this is going into the last book of the series.
I have not been reviewing as I should, but DK always ups his game with each new series. I love how many are tied to characters in another series.
Thanks you DK, you are gifted.

Book 5
Book 5 was a fun read and had errors throughout. The plot and characters have developed well and the new enemy is emerging with each new book. The plot is still slow and the characters still run around trying to find the bad guy and piece all the information together to understand what is happening with no luck.

Exciting series!
This series has kept me guessing throughout. I am anxious to read the next one! I can always trust that this author has clean and clever books that anyone would be able to share with their teens.

Good
Enjoyed a bit repetitive in some areas. A lot of plot twists still can't figure out where the author is going and that is what makes a good writer. Keeps the reader in suspense.

Another excellent novel in this series. I am ready to start A Forging of Power (The Elder Stones Saga Book 6). Thank you D.K. Holmberg for keeping my mind entertained.
