As expected, I love this completely!
I absolutely adore the coupling of Hades and Persephone, not only because they're exact opposites, but also because they are one of the few couples in Greek mythology not to cheat on each other and to treat each other as equals.
This book is everything that was promised and fans will love it. With beautiful aesthetics and an artistic yet sensual depiction of the Hades and Persephone story, it adds a new layer of depth to the story by also included textual dialogues of what Hades and Persephone may have been thinking when meeting each other, being separated, and so on. I'll admit that it's perhaps overly romantic for some people, but as long as they get at the spirituality of their relationship--which the author does--then I'm satisfied.
A beautiful book that I look forward to reading again and again.

4.5 stars - This is a wonderful retelling of Hades and Persephone's love. The artwork is fantastic. The only thing I have a problem with are the translation issues. It's like someone took out an English dictionary and picked the first word under an entry they came across. It just doesn't fit the context. In some cases, I now have to consult a dictionary myself, as I am not sure some of those words actually exist in the English language today.
In any case, it has been an enjoyable read.

Bref, « Hades & Persephone: A Tale of love and death » est un très beau recueil de poèmes. June Leeloo nous expose le cœur de Persephone et Hades à travers des poèmes intimistes sur leur rencontre, leur amour, leur relation à distance une partie de l’année et leurs retrouvailles. Le tout est accompagné d’illustrations qui se marient parfaitement bien avec nos divinités. Cerise sur le gâteau, les poèmes sont aussi bien en anglais qu’en français. C’est un très bel ouvrage dans le fond et dans la forme. Je ne peux que vous conseiller de le lire ou au moins d’aller regarder le travail de cette illustratrice sur internet pour vous faire un premier avis.

Hades and Persephone is my favorite retelling. Their relationship is just beautiful, real and so tender, yet so intense. June Leeloo campured all the essence of these two in her beutiful work and all the emocions on the little poems that follow her spectacular art.
It's the perfect book, one that I will charish forever and keep reading and looking at it forever.
