I loved this book. It dealt with a tough subject matter but Anna did an amazing job and with it handled it with grace and strength. A gripping & emotionally moving story, superbly written.
In this story, we see Derek West and Charlotte “Charlie” Porter's story. Derek and Charlie grew up together and both had feelings for each other but circumstances occurred and their lives went in completely different directions. A chance meeting between the two seems to throw both of their lives into a new direction. From the outside Charlie's life seems to be perfect. But not everything is as it seems. And when he discovers the hell Charlie is living, he will do anything to keep her safe and make her future into something completely different.
A very cleverly crafted story, sensitively dealing with the terrible and often hidden issue of domestic abuse. There are plenty of twists and turns, I literally couldn’t stop reading until the end. The tightness of the R.I.S.C. team as they interact with each other and their romantic interests continues to be an ongoing theme throughout this entire series. I cannot wait to see how Anna Blakely continues with this series in the future.

I borrowed Intentional Risk ~ R.I.S.C. Alpha Team ~ Book 4 from the Kindle Unlimited Program.
In Intentional Risk Derek, the computer expert for R.I.S.C. has an accidental meeting with Charlie the girl that got away eleven years ago. When her husband interrupts their meeting and demands she leave immediately after being rude and insulting her verbally, Derek knows she is in an abusive marriage.
She gets away from her husband with Derek's help and this starts a series of incidents that Caleb, her husband is behind and endangering Charlie's life. Lots of adventure, sweet understanding love and help, a kidnapping and a happy ending too. Great series so far.

Jealous and misunderstanding what she saw, Charlie hurriedly leaves and has car trouble. Handsome stranger, Caleb Porter, stops to help and teasingly says his help costs a dinner date. Within the year, Caleb and Charlie marry and move to DC.
Envious while celebrating his boss’ impending fatherhood with co-workers, Caleb excuses himself to get some air and runs into Charlie. As the old friends greet each other, Caleb looms at Charlie’s side elbowing her away and forbids contact from Derek. Noting Caleb’s use of Charlie’s hated formal name, how she cowers and flinches at Caleb’s touch, Derek stealthily slips his card in Charlie’s pocket.

WOW! WHAT AN EXCITING BOOK!!😊
This story was sooo good!😁. It was exciting, engrossing and a real page turner! The action was unrelenting and gripping ... No way could I put it down! Some of the twists and turns were very unexpected which just enhanced the whole storyline. Charlie and Derek were so likeable.... Their romance was very heartwarming, sweet and sexy. Their friendship was a wonderful thing. I like a lot that in every Anna Blakely the hero is portrayed as very strong, but at the same time, a man who feels deeply and can cry when deeply effected. That gives her heroes a beautiful and human persona that makes her stories even more enjoyable!!! I also get pleasure from touching base with all the other R.I.S.C. characters.... It's great to see how the whole group is doing and what's new with them. I highly recommend this book and the whole series!!!!!🤗

He is a retired seal working for a security company She was his neighbor growing up she always had a crush on him she sees him with another woman and thinks she is with him so she bails gets her car stuck a guy passing by offers to help and she accepts his invitation for dinner that was her biggest mistake they run into one another eleven years later he can see she is afraid of her now husband so he slips her his card they meet the next day he follows her to the hotel she needs to get back to and finds her beaten and bloodied he takes her to his house to get her checked by his boss's wife when husband shows up next morning she tells him she is done so Derek continues to keep her safe he draws up paperwork for divorce it goes through now they have sizzling romance by the husband is waiting to strike again he kidnaps her the team helps him to rescue her he asks her to marry him wonderful happy ending

Charlie and Derek. Childhood friends who both wanted more but a misunderstanding sent them in different directions. A little over a decade later a chance meeting sets things into motion to save Charlie and get them back together as they were meant to be. This story has danger from the beginning and in the serious form of domestic violence and the extremes that it can take against women who try to leave. The team and police via Derek’s brother work together when Charlie is abducted, but we also have another cop who puts roadblocks up and arrests Derek as the villain due to the cunning of the ex husband. The story was fast over and scary in its potential of being a true story that too many women and families face. The ending was more graphic and violent than even the previous stories and events that happened to Liv and Lexi, but also poignant in showing the strength and beauty of the relationships of this couple and the team.

OMG! Another FANTASTIC story by Anna! This story is about Charlie and Derek. This story took a turn for the worse around the second chapter. Charlie found herself in a living hell marriage. After eleven years of hell, she runs in to the man that she truly loves - Derek. Derek couldn't believe he was seeing his best friend again but she looked different. Once Derek goes to check on Charlie, he finds her beaten. Now Derek takes matters into his hands to help Charlie get out of her marriage from hell. After that, things start getting worse for Derek and Charlie knows who is behind of of Derek's woes. The last few chapters were totally intense. Charlie almost loses her life but Derek saved her from her lunatic ex-husband. Once he is neutralized, these two start working on their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Anna! I would recommend this book.

Charlie aka Charlotte is the female lead, her character has been in abusive relationship for years and when she finally can walk away the terror comes back for more. I was rooting her on from the beginning, I loved how she found her inner strength and fought back. This is a second chance Romance, Derek West is the male lead, he has loved Charlie for years but never had the chance to tell her. When they run into eachother again, sparks will fly and Derek will give Charlie the push, support she needs to get away from her awful husband. She was dark haired now she's a blonde. She wore jeans and tee shirts now she wears designer clothes. She was Charlie now she's Charlotte. He thought they had something special that could be built on then she married someone else. Running into Charlie Stone after so many years was a surprise but this Charlie...make that Charlotte Porter is a far cry from the fun flirty girl he knew. Finding out she's in an abusive marriage, Derek West wastes no time in getting her to safety and protecting her. Confessing they both still loved each other makes it a no brainer for Derek to pull out all the stops in making sure she gets the divorce she wants, needs and deserves. Unfortunately, the ex is not willing to go away quietly and wreaks havoc that puts Derek in legal jeopardy and compromises Charlie's safety.

I loved this book. Derek is a strong, protective hero, and cared so much about Charlie. I love that they had a connection at the beginning of the book and even tho 11 years passed by, they still had a connection when they met up again and Derek knew something wasn't right with Charlie, only to learn of her abuse. He was patient and kind to her and that fire and attraction they once had between them was still burning strong. Derek helped Charlie come to terms that she was a strong person, and helped her through her abusive marriage and having courage to leave her ex-husband, She always trusted in him, and trusted in him to find her when she was kidnapped by her crazy ex. I'm so glad they got their HEA and that Derek helped Charlie grow as into a strong character in this book.

This is a Second Chance Romantic Suspense, and this is the fourth book in the R.I.S.C. Alpha Team series. I have read the first three books in this series before picking up this book, but you can read this book as a standalone. This book covers an abusive marriage, and that subject can trigger some readers so please be aware before picking up this book. This book pulled me into the story right from the start. There is a ton of action and suspense in this book. I really enjoyed getting to know all the characters in this series. The ending of this book had me sitting on the edge of my seat, and there is a ton of suspense and drama in this book. There was parts of this book that was hard to read because of the subject that was being cover in this book, but I felt it was done very well.

A must read!
Exciting doesn't begin to describe this story of Derek and Charlie. This is an action packed read that sadly could be a true story. When I find myself so engrossed in reading that I lose focus of everything else, I know I've found another great Author with a fantastic series and I'm just grateful that there is more coming! Don't pass this up as you'll be missing out on an epic story!

Real Love!
International Risk: WOW! Excellent story! It is sad what Charlie went through with her ex who supposedly loved but really didn't. Charlie and Derek were great friend with a strong love that they never admitted until she had been through hell with Caleb. Derek was her saver and the love her life. I really enjoyed it.

Intentional Risk by Anna Blakey
Any the series continues with Derek and Charlie’s story. This book was very well written. It was filled with romance, suspense and angst. The way Anna covered the topic of domestic abuse was very well written. I would recommend this book to everyone.

I like the book. It did address a problem in today's society. My problem with the book is obviously the author knows nothing about the state of Texas. You cannot live in Dallas and be at the coast in an hour. I found that a little frustrating. I do plan on reading the rest of this series as I do like the author but I wish that they would pay a little more attention to details.

It was difficult to read some of this book because I have had personal experience with spousal abuse. It was 50 years ago but some things you don't forget. I didn't have a way out as I had a special needs child. This issue must never be forgotten or swept under the rug.

Another book that kept me on the edge of my seat. There's no excuse for a man to ever hit a woman, maybe self defense if she's attacking him, but if he's abusing her for control, no way. Her and Derek were friends when they were younger, she was 18, but she misunderstood something, and instead of asking him, she latched onto the first man she met. Danger, abuse, and a second chance. HEA.

The book was an easy read and one that you don't want to put down. Time seemed to stand still as you were living the lives of Derek and Charlie. They have struggles to overcome and hardships that can tear them apart. I would recommend this book.

Charlie’s story is so sad. Definitely jumping to conclusions started the path to the bad, but so did everyone trying to hide their feelings. It sucks that they lost so many years, but at least now they have their happy ever after.

Wonderful!
Charlie was such a great character as was Dereck. Lots of action and suspense with some surprises thrown in. Loved it!

These books all have a similar structure and nothing really surprises me, but this is exactly what I want sometimes. Balm for my soul. Super sweet and I love it.
