Cherry Valley #2

A flirty, sexy HEA romp!

Even though I love to eat some good cherry pie, I hate Cherry Valley.

Ever since I was dragged to this small town to open a tech start-up with my partner, I’ve been stuck in a land of cowpatties, yee-haws, and scuffed boots.

Dammit, I miss the kind of do-me heels I’d get in the city.

And I got a LOT of pumps, if you know what I mean.

Luckily Penny Burnett just happens to be one of the only heel-wearing hotties around here. And — bonus! She’s about to flee Cherry Valley for a new job.

That means we’ll never have to see each other again. Good thing, too, because my business partner is engaged to Penny’s sister and neither of them wants two dating disasters like Penny and me anywhere near each other.

But, one night, we find ourselves in a very compromising position.

Many of them, as a matter of fact.

But no sweat, right? She’ll be gone before we both know it.

Well, I’m sweating now, because Penny’s job fell through, and by some bad stroke of fortune, I’ve become one of her new bosses at the tech start-up.

It’s going to be hell keeping our one-night stand a secret.

And even bigger hell putting that one hot night out of our naughty minds...

Naughty Naughty Nerd is the second full-length (See what I did there?) book in the Cherry Valley series!

’Naughty, Naughty Nerd’.
Rating: 3,5 (of 5 stars).
In general: Business Relationship becomes Romance.

Main characters:
- Penny Burnett (27).
She’s Mandy’s older sister. Unlike her sis she wanted since her youth leave small town Cherry Valley to see the world as soon as possible. So when she gets an interesting looking HR job in Chicago she sells her souvenir shop in CV to prepare her move.

- Barry Aaronson (29).
He’s - with Zach - owner of Full Circle Technologies. For a long time the big city boy was against the move of their company from the Bay Area to a small town in the middle of nowhere. But - grumbling - he agreed to the switch.

Penny and Barry meet at her farewell party; they have a ‘click’ ending with a one-night-stand. Then the Chicago job is suddenly cancelled and Penny is offered an HR job at Full Circle by Zack. But Barry will be her boss too. They agree that they will have a business working relationship, but despite their intentions they fall in bed again several times. It takes a lot of time (and pages) before they dare to admit to themselves that it’s more than lust and that they are in love. The book could have been many pages shorter if they were more open about their feelings earlier.

I enjoyed this book as much as book 1. I loved both Barry and Penny's characters. There was a good mix of witty and funny dialogue, background story, and seriousness in the book. I loved the process of how they grew into their feelings despite how their relationship was started by chemistry first. I would read more from this series.

Small town Penny has a not so small town wanderlust. After agreeing to not date any more losers, she is ready to start fresh in Chicago. However, on the day of her going-away party, she meets Barry, one of the co-founders of FCT, who is also a known jerk. Their one night stands becomes something more when she realizes that she is stuck in Cherry Valley longer than she wants.

Barry FTW!

After the first book I wasn’t sure I would be interested in a book about jerk Barry but boy did this book prove me wrong! Barry and Penny are so hot and sweet together. They are just what the other one needs and bring out the best in each other. Great book!

Simple and exciting
Very great romance, very well written, which although being a simple story, is exciting. I loved the characters of Penny and Barry, as well for their characters, their attraction, their limit, their verbal exchanges :). Their story can be really hot.
Barry can both have an unbearable behavior transcribed on his very nerd T-shirts, having no limit to his honesty even if he hurts the others, as he can be touching when he lowers his walls ; and Penny, who knows that she wants to change her life, who does not want to be with another looser, who has her outspokenness, but who always stays herself without hiding who she is.
Penny wants to leave her small town, has sold her business and is ready to leave for Chicago when her sister arranges a party for her. Sister's fiancé, Zach has a very nerdy partner, a handsome man who is a player, and he's is invited. He only has a big disdain for this little town that does not have much to offer, compared to New York he comes from. However, after warning Penny about her future job in Chicago, after having angered her, drank, they find themselves at her home and spend a night rather hot, inconsequential because Penny leaves and she allows herself just one last night for a relationship with no future.
But the next day everything changes, and Penny finds herself stuck again and has an offer to work in the technology company of Zach and Barry. By mutual agreement, they decide not to say anything to anyone and to avoid each other, never to reiterate this experience that is certainly fantastic, but definitely without a future for someone against commitment and someone who wants a real relationship.

Just one night can lead to way more than ever bargained for............possibly!/b>

Naughty Naughty Nerd is the solidly written second book in the continuing story and characters of Cherry Valley. This book focuses on Barry, who is the partner of Zach, and has been dragged kicking and screaming to Cherry Valley with the company headquarter relocation. He is definitely the typical start-up tech finance guy who thinks he knows everything and is way more arrogant than he ever has a right to be. But then again he did leave his cushy life back in the big city with all of its "distractions".

Enter the non-typical small town girl in the form of Penny. She is a high heel wearing woman who is counting down the hours and minutes until Cherry Valley is a distant memory in her rear view mirror as she is heading to Chicago.

Barry sees Penny as a quick "distraction" as it will be one night with no fear of repeats as she has plans she is sticking to. However, things don't go quite as planned and these two end up running into each other again. These two are extremely funny together as they banter back and forth and try to fight what could possible happen between them.

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

All walled in

Both Barry and Penny keep others at arms length. They get together thinking she is leaving town but, circumstances change. They end up working together and actually get to know one another.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I loved this story about Barry and Penny. She's determined to leave Cherry Valley and all the losers behind. She's got herself a job in Chicago and is headed out of CV without a backwards glance. Barry moved to CV with his business partner Zach. Hers a city boy and likes the fast pace of the city not the slow speed of CV. Barry meets Penny at her going away party, when he warns her about the company she's going to work for. They have a quick fling since she's gone soon. But they are both blindsided with weird feelings for the other, that they both try to deny. When Penny had to go to work for Zach and Barry after get dream job falls thru, she tries to forget about Barry, but it didn't work. They have ups and downs but since they are so different then everyone else in town, it's more noticeable.

After completing Dare To Do Me (Cherry Valley #1) I was pleased that this story covers the other CFO of Full Circle Technologies, Barry. His character is more asshole than blatant nerd but in typical romance fashion, you look forward to his assholeness defence being melted away. Penny is just the gal to do so but with her own issues, she is more into pushing Barry away.

Funny, light, sexy read and more enjoyable than book #1.

Where this book lacked, was leaving me with no burning desire to continue reading the remaining 3 books in the series. Perhaps Bet Me Then Beg Me #4 which covers Deputy Jesse Herrera but his character is barely mentioned. I would read only because I expect a hot cop story. Disappointed that the character Abby who is weaved often in books #1 and #2 of the Cherry Valley storyline doesn't seem to get her own story.

Cheers

Penny was done with her sweet small town of Cherry Valley and counting the days that she would be braving a new life in Chicago.
Instead she fell for her boss who happened to be an arrogant user of women.
Her heart broken yet again as her fears were reinforced that she attracted only losers.
This contemporary romance had its ups and downs but the highlights were focused on Barry and the way he finally started to grow up. It took a while, but they finally made their way back together for their HEA.

Cherry Valley is one of my favorite places. Barry is such an arrogant ass or so you think. Penny has that "girl wants out of her small hometown" syndrome. When they first meet it is so cool and nonchalant. Then they hook up and bam it's what they both have been looking for. But that would be too easy for these two stubborn and prickly relationship haters. Penny is the one who keeps throwing everything off by protecting herself from another bad for her guy. But finally these two hit the brick wall and see what was there all along.

Barry is your typical arrogant, good looking tech finance geek with the prickly side always out as a defense mechanism. Penny is the country girl trying to break out and live in the big city, and do away with all the bad news guys she keeps falling for over and over. What turns out from a one time hook up could be so much more if these two people would stop fighting the attraction and let their true selves open up to each other. Very fun read and the talk going on in their heads constantly.

Okay, the last episode we had Cherry Valley as the new location for Full Circle Technologies firm co-owned by Zach and Barry.
This episode, we starred out, with Barry still not feeling the love for what he considers is the backwater known as Cherry Valley.
That is until he meets...
Oh, sorry, don't want to give a great story away. You are definitely going to enjoy this rollercoaster of a ride, when even the lovers don't know what they're doing. Both have jaded pasts, a love 'em and leave 'em approach, which just doesn't work this time.
Read and enjoy!

The way the setting is described in this story makes it come to life. The characters are amazing, they know their flaws and strengths, they are also very faceted and sometimes vulnerable. I loved it.

A good story about the dangers of assumptions and presumption. I liked that the male lead was willing to bare his heart for the female lead. She jumped to conclusions a bit much. Nice redemption from not nice guy to loving man
