My enemies’ strength comes from working in the shadows. I am about to drag them into the light.
The hits just keep coming.
I’ve managed to survive my first semester at Stormwood Academy. Now we’re on break preparing for the new term, which for most people means fun vacations and sleeping in. But for me and the guys, we’re in hiding. Sound’s great, right? What could be better than being holed up with four hot, powerful mages who are all mine?
Well, like everything in life, it comes at a price.
...More to come...

Academy of Elemental Magic series: Hidden Power Forbidden Bond Shadow Promise
Publisher’s note: Academy of Elemental Magic is a reverse harem supernatural fantasy academy series with magic and steam meant for mature readers.
Fiona Starr is a USA Today Bestselling Author of Paranormal Romance. She writes everything from Reverse Harem to M/F, as long as it has magic, shifters, and other creatures! She loves fated mates and enemies to lovers romance, even better when it's set in a gripping mystery. Actually, most tropes are fair game, as long as we get to the HEA (which we always do!). She lives her happily ever after in the mountains of Colorado with her hunky husband and their fleet of fur babies.
omg such an anticlimactic ending. all this suspense from the first two books, just to end it as if nothing happened. this book is good only if u had absolutely no book in your tbr and only if u wanted a quick read to help your reading challenge. the first two books, even if lacking in quality, at least had a good story base. this one did not. a delusion honestly.
This is the final book in the Academy of Elemental Magic series. President Dietrich is dead, but that doesn’t mean Avaline and her men are out of the woods yet. Another dark group is in play, and they want Ava. They want to use her power to find the rest of the vox mages.
This book was a bit of a let down. Actually, the entire series was. In each book, there’s this build up to something huge, and poof! It’s all resolved in a few paragraphs. I do like the premise and wish the author would have spent a bit more time and effort on the ending. I admit that the part where Ava reaches out to other vox mages and tells them they’re safe, and then a young brother and sister show up, is pretty moving. Why not spend a bit of time there. Let the reader wallow in those feelings for a bit? But nope.
There’s one ménage scene, and it felt like the author didn’t really know how to write it, so just decided to get it over with as quickly as possible. Yet another scene that was cut short. Perhaps the author just needs more experience. Some of the areas that were very interesting were the areas that dealt with mage politics and some of the classes with the professors. It was interesting to read about them actually teaching and explaining how to use magic to Ava.
I do feel a bit let down with the series ending. One thing I base my ratings on, is how do I feel when I finish a book or a series? I’m giving this book, and the series as a whole, 3 stars. Which for me is just average. I didn’t hate the book/series. But I didn’t love it either. I would say that if you have a bunch of other book on your reading list, you might want to tackle them first. These do read pretty fast, so if you just need a break between something else you’re reading, this would be a good way to do that.
So after finishing the second book I wanted to jump into this third book, not realizing it wasn't out yet. Thankfully I didn't have to wait that long for it to be released.
After finishing the second book I was expecting big thing's from this book. Unfortunately I feel like this book Ended before it really Started. Instead of a Big Bang it just kind of Fizzeled.
Again with Ava, kinda of like this whole book, I was at least figuring Big Things from her. Unfortunately like with books 1 & 2, she was just kind of, ehhhh.... Not really boring, but not really exciting either. Where I expected her to use her powers more in this book, we barely got anything out of her, except towards the end and even than it wasn't even that exciting.
Again loved Jamey, Raff, and Sasha in this book. I tried to like Whitt in this book, but again wasn't really feeling him.
I'm a little unsure what happened in this book. I feel in way's it was a bit rushed and as mentioned above that it ended before it really started. In the second book towards the end we found out about The Order of Scorpius, I was expecting to find out more about this group in this book or have something big to happen with this group in this book. But again that just kinda fizzled to a stop.
I do want to say that although this book didn't go the way I thought it would, I did enjoy this book and this series.
Okay so book 1 wasnt great. Book 2 was way better. Book 3....not so great. It leaves A LOT of stones unturned. Like Rafferty's sister, Blake. She was pretty upset about her Dad. I also dont think it was fair not to tell her stuff. Where are Holly and Gabby? Its like the author wrote them out of the book. Definitely unfocused. I was expecting a better ending but it just doesnt feel complete.
All in all its an okay series. Its that middle ground kinda leaning towards bottom. If your not expecting a lot from the series then you might like it quite a bit and things wont bother you.
My Rating
Story: 2 stars Characters: 3 stars World Building: 4 stars Steam: 2 stars (very basic and mediocre) Overall: 2-3 stars
Sooooo this was cute but like... fell flat. It struggled to stay straight and fly smooth for me. There was a lot of great moments but then it’d go to sex or some vague bad guy thing and then it would talk deeply about plans and theories that eventually lead to them needing to release some stress (in the bedroom heh). And it was a pattern repeating over and over. The sex was exciting and cute in the beginning but then I got to this installment and I started noticing how... different it seems now. I don’t know, it didn’t hold my attention as well.
Overall, it was a nice series to pass the time on Kindle Unlimited. I think I would’ve stopped after book one if I bought it because I’m that picky.
I liked this series. I loved that even though ava had been thrown off the deep end as soon as she learned she had magic, she still kept a light within her. She always wanted to save anyone who was worth saving. She even felt bad for what happened to the people who attacked her. Jamey was swoony with his fierce protection of ava and "his pack". He never questioned his connection with her. Honestly none of the men questioned their connection with ava which was corny but still adorable. I did feel that there was a lot of build up for the action in the story, but when it happened the results were a bit lacking. Not a bad series though.
I enjoyed this series, but found it to be a little shallow, and definitely could have been longer. Whilst I liked the main character and her mates, they seemed a little flat as characters, and could have been built upon more.
The storyline was good, but could have been extended to add in extra drama and make it a little more realistic. I felt the plot was wrapped up a little too efficiently, and was unrealistically easy for the MC.
The ending was sweet, but too brief for me.
One thing I really appreciated was that there were hardly any grammar/ punctuation mistakes, which I have found to be so common in reverse harem series for some reason!
This was a captivating series with excitement and intrigue and a nice leveled steaminess. Ava and her guys, Shasta, Jamey, Raff and Whitt, formed their Vox bond and all feel like a family now. But it will take all of them, as well as Ava’s friends, especially Lionna, to get through the conspiracy that pervades the whole magical community. The whole group struggles with some insecurities, but they are committed to their cause and to keeping each other safe. Nice ending to the series!
Yeah so im a fast reader but it literally took me 3 days to read this series is that good.... The vox story line is so believe able... In to days world power corrupts so why wouldn't it be any different in the magical community... What Ava has to go threw will male you want to jump into the boom and lick some magic ass but at the same time you are like WTF is going on.... So worth it and I think that is the fastest I have read a.series.... Couldn't stop binge reading
Ava and her guys have been through so much. Can they catch a break?
Shadow Promise brings to head all that Ava has learned and endured. Vox elementals stand at a precipice and only Ava can top the balance. Forces are still in play against her. Can Ava and her pack stand strong?
It was a short book. It felt a little rushed and the plot was small. Not the usual “end of the world at any moment” type of plot. It was just enough to carry the book along nicely. I wish the book dived deeper into the individual relationships and backstories, but overall I think everything tied up seamlessly - which is why I’m giving it 5 stars.
The book was short and seemed more about the sex scenes with her men than the story. Everything was wrapped up neatly at the end, but for a three book series and the power and scope of the order that was trying to destroy Ava, it was resolved way too easily. It wasn't a bad story, I just wish there was more to it.
I paid $5.99 for 119 pages. I don’t think I got my moneys worth to be honest. I feel like at least 60 pages of that was spent writing vanilla spice. I just feel like it could’ve been taken to a different level. You don’t really feel caught up in the book. It’s kind of anti-climatic.
This was a good read and addition to the series. Though it felt very rushed and I expected more. Good plot and fantastic characters. The epilogue could have been a little longer and further into the future.
This book was worth the rating,Ava and her mates have done it again.I really hope this isn't the last book.It would be nice to read about the latest Vox elementals.Start with the first book and read them all they're great.
I highly recommend this fantastic finale to this magical and steamy series to readers 18+ due to the RH content. It illustrates the fight for human rights in a thoughtful and thrilling way. Enjoy!
I enjoyed the story it had great characters too. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was because it felt too short and sort of rushed. It could of been dragged out and been even better. In saying that it was still a good read.
I got hooked straight away in book 1 and continued until I finished book 3, the more I read, the more I wanted to know about ava and her men! Definitely recommend everyone to read this series
A bunch of information in 122 pages and I could not put this one down until I had most of my questions answered. I was waiting for a quintet romantic scene but only got a ménage a trois.
Book 3 the conclusion. This is a nice series to read, no dark bully or angst as a lot of academy HR are. Jamey as always is my favourite, alpha of his pack! The book was tied up quite quickly without too much drama. Enjoyed the series.
This is the last book in the series of Academic of Elemental Magic thus far. Each series are short reads. Once one starts a book it's hard to not find out what happened next. I like that Ava found her pack and was able to attain the peak of her power
These are all great books! Ava Is something else that’s for sure. I hope there will be more to this series I definitely finished wanting and needing more! Check this series out.
This final book in Academy of Elemental Magic was a lovely ending to this saga. I love HEA, and especially after everything that Has had t face. Worth reading.
The story is not bad but it's too rushed. There's a lack of world building too. There's no connection or chemistry between the characters and everything is too easy?! Like who knock on your dorm door to become your new BFF?!
Ava has finally gotten her HEA with her four bonded mates! It was hard won but well worth the danger and turmoil they all went through. Nothing like a sexy reverse harem filled with magic and love to make you swoon!!
When you are tired of being hunted and fight back. When you feel like everything is falling apart. When you are being threatened. You fight for what is right.
