Entertaining

Lorna sees ghosts, but cannot actually communicate with them which honestly, makes more sense than ghosts being able to talk to people. The fact that she can't hear them makes it really challenging to uncover who killed them. She kind of sticks her nose into and neck out trying to discover the truth of the deaths of those around her, with the help of her pet, Flipper, and best friend, Helen. Flipper can sense the ghosts, but Helen cannot and is more of a sounding board and partner on the hunt with Lorna. Pretty much results in their almost getting hurt or killed before they do eventually figure out who the guilty party is. After Lorna meets Zach, a gardener and her future boyfriend, he spends more time worrying about her than not. Then Gunner, Zach's brother joins the team and they luckily have the police in their corner.

I'll admit that on the one hand, I can understand why she gets involved, but sometimes she really does push things a little too far. Too bad the ghosts aren't all as helpful as they can be, but they tend to at least step up when she is in danger. I liked the stories well enough, but they need some editing. Definitely missing some words and although I am not British, even I know they say mum and not mom and grown men do not call their mothers "mommy".

fascinating and fun

Lorna has seen ghosts since an accident as a child, gifted (or cursed, depends on the day) her with the ability. She and her bestie Helen are a professional duo that works with the elite of Europe as temporary staff members, moving from ancestral castles, manors and stately homes based on the job.

Lorna’s minder dog Flipoer also accompanies them as well and is surprising an early ghost detector, warning Lorna when she will encounter a spirit, usually one with u finished business.

On almost every historic estate, they encounter a spirit with unfinished business that needs their assistance, including discovering their murderer and exposing the villain!

Through the series they also meet someone who will w Lorna’s long term love and close to the end of this first series, a potential unexpected partner for the very particular Helen as well though quite unexpected and not her normal posh type. More needs to be revealed if he will be the one for her, but it would be quite delightful if he is!

A fascinating and quite fun series and an absolutely worthwhile read

easy reading

A very interesting set of books with well developed characters, even though you only know some of them for the length of each book. Although there is 1 murder at least in each book, it is not a police procedural, in which you may find yourself asking questions at the end. Each book ends well and happy with often the romantic lives of the two women taking centre stage.
So easy reading. Clean also, no swearing at all, no open bedroom doors, no crudeness or other vulgarities.
What let’s the books down though is the quite poor proof reading. Towards the end of these 6 short books, I found it annoying. Glad it was free.

Six stories of ghosts needing help

Lorna sees ghosts but can't near them. Some are more useful than others at letting her know what they need from her. Some apparently have been so frustrated being in that state that first they have tantrums.
Lorna and her friend Helen work in larger households, as an administrative assistant and a seamstress. Each story is in a different kind of household, a different ghost. The main characters are interesting, as are the families who hired them.

Wow...Just wow

This is one of the best box sets I've ever read. What's more is that I caught it during a promotional period and got to experience these delightful books for free.

The mysteries were well thought out and each character perfectly defined with dialogue so good that I had to constantly remind myself it's fiction.

Sure, there were a few typos in books 4 and 5 but these were very minor. All in all this is a very well written collection.

Very pleasant storylines, nice cozy mystery with ghosts thrown in and the occassional 'violent' thought.
It was, however, very disconcerting and offputting to be reading about beautiful English countryside, average English people and find words such as 'gas, mommy, proven and bathroom (f0r toilet), along with other obvious US American spelling.
Very disappointing,
Otherwise enjoyable reading.

Entertaining

Thoroughly enjoyed these ghostly mysteries, helping a ghost figure out how it was murdered and by whom is a novel but great premise for great books, set in stately homes or criminal hideouts. Wonderful settings amazing believable main characters witj mysteries thrown in.

Believable

Do you know I enjoyed these books. Although they all run on the same premise. Get a job, show up, ghosts appear then work out what happened to them.
The characters are a bit stuffy but able to get the job done.
The dogs are more fun.
A good read on the beach, on the couch or just take it a bit at a time.

A great mystery to solve and villains abound

I enjoyed these mysteries and all 6 stories had me reading for 3 days straight. The story was well played and the speaker had a great voice. These are not the gritty mysteries but mysteries that has you grinning at the end.

Enjoyable

The author managed to make me see the setting of each story without elaborate written descriptions making the stories quick but satisfying reads. The mysteries were each different but with the same formula for being solved.

Lorna Shadow (Lorna Shadow #1-6) by K.E. O'Connor.

Box set of 6 cozy mystery books. Lorna sees ghosts and, in each book, there are ghosts who need help before they can move on. An easy read. 3 and half stars.

Good stories

Enjoyed the stories but not the editing. Watch out for missing words, names in the wrong places and just poor grammar. I rated a 4 because they are all different and enjoyable if you can get past the negatives above.

Lorna and Helen and their ghostly friends had me hooked through six books. These may be called cozy mysteries but they were interesting and had you guessing throughout. Too often "cozy" mysteries are just too sappy. Not so with this series. Totally enjoyed every one.
