Breaking a few rules didn’t seem like a huge deal.

With his name on several government assasination lists, Wren Gibson’s prison sentence might’ve been the shortest in hacker history, until an unlikely rescue lands him behind the sturdy brick walls of The Asylum Fight Club. Where everyone can game the rules, yet he’s forbidden from even placing his piece on the board.

But one Dom tempts him to gamble everything.

The Asylum’s resident, on-call medic, Jared “Doc” McCleod is familiar with the histories of every man who crosses the club’s threshold. Their pain, their fear… Of them all, only Wren has held on to his secrets, a fascinating contrast with how completely he gives up control. As the general on the front lines of The Asylum’s internal and external battles, it’s Jared’s duty to make certain the quiet sub with soulful brown eyes doesn’t fly under his radar for long.

Showing his hand could cost them both.

When Jared takes on the task of helping Wren recover from an unexpected injury, Wren begins to wonder. While the Dom is tending to everyone else, who is there for him? To show Jared he can be the sub he needs, he would willingly light himself on fire. For an ex-con with a target on his back, risking that kind of notice is a dangerous strategy, but...

Sometimes, getting what you want requires going all in.

Triggers and violent situations, bdsm, and some other things you may find difficult to read.

Jared and Wren get together finally, and the difficulties begin, these two are made for each other, it’s so nice to see the softer side of Doc too.
Great book wonderfully written and entertaining.

I don’t even know where to start? Wren was so, so, so much more than he appeared. Doc was unbelievably more complex than I could have ever imagined. But the beauty of this story is, they saw and got the other. Not after getting to know each other, not after long conversations, but by observing and seeing, what they do best. Wren and Jared (Doc) aren’t loud, they aren’t in your face, and because some of their closest friends are so much out there, people overlook or misunderstand them. That’s okay though, because they get each other. Once they get each other, fight for the other, and realize their worth and importance, others start to see the real them too.

Wren and Jared are a significant part of the The Asylum, and by the end of their story, not only those around them, but they themselves finally realize that. Wren and Jared are an essential part of life to Jamie and Noah, and that gets worked out as well. At one point I was confused, thinking why we had so much Noah and Jamie story, again, and then it all clicked together. We are at book four in this series, and our four subs had a …… squabble, a sub-squabble, broken up by Rhodey, of all people (still not a Rhodey fan, but I don’t still dislike him as vehemently now). Jared, Noah, Lawson, and Curtis achieve a balance they didn’t have, haven’t had, despite their years and history. Cracks are discovered, healing begins, comfort is given, and strength of the synergy is always on tap for however has need of it. That is the heart of this series, the name of this series, and the strength of this series, but more importantly, this book showed the warmth of this series with Wren and Jared’s story

Tibby Armstong and Bianca Sommerland do something a little different in this fourth installment in their must-read-in-order The Asylum Fight Club series. At the start of Cold Justice, they take us back a few years to show us how quiet bartender, Wren Gibson ended up in prison and ultimately met Noah. One of the club’s founding members, Noah immediately recognizes a young man with a need for submission… and more importantly, protection. Given Wren’s circumstances, and his lack in ability to keep quiet, Noah takes him under his wing, giving the boy a purpose and strength, as well as a feeling of belonging.

The authors paint a vivid picture of Wren’s devotion to Noah, as they move us to present-day and Wren’s struggle to overcome his “debt” to the Dom, while at the same time pursuing his need for a real partnership. Up to now, Noah’s punishments have kept Wren safe from himself and those who have a target on his back, but he’s lacking in compassion. Even Wren understands this as he ponders, “Noah intended for him to feel like something was missing. Because it was.” In fact, in one epic chapter you come to fully understand the true dynamic between Wren and Noah.

One dynamic scene after another propels this story along, as relationships ebb and flow in unexpected directions.

As Wren begins to spread his wings and test his boundaries, he wants to capture the attention of The Asylum’s resident medic, “Doc” Jared. While trying to prove to himself he can be the sub Doc needs, an accident puts Wren in the man’s care, causing Jared to question all he knows. It shows the reader a completely different side to Doc, a side one might not have anticipated due to his portrayal as a sadist. But it is an aspect that rings true to that of a healer. His firm protocol is more for himself, a strict adherence to keep his own demons at bay.

One dynamic scene after another propels this story along, as relationships ebb and flow in unexpected directions. Wren divulges parts of himself without thought, and Jared treasures the young man, not understanding what others can’t see in the boy’s natural, precious submission. The beauty of what these men discover reminds me of the lyrics in Dishwalla’s “Angels or Devils”.

And I can see the pain in you
And I can see the love in you
But fighting all the demons will take time
I’m always gonna worry about
The things that could make us cold

With Noah’s husband, Jamie bringing out Wren’s naughty and Noah bringing out Jared’s good… where else could this lead? Fans of these men – you are going to be delighted! Except, secrets Noah and Wren have kept threaten a budding relationship and when Wren’s friendship with Jamie makes him take a risk, it jeopardizes not only Jamie, but the entire Asylum. The drama is so palpable my heart was literally in my throat as I wondered how this could possibly end well… and I know it’s still not completely over.

Cold Justice’ is a build-up of epic proportions, setting the stage for what’s to come in The Asylum Fight Club.

What happens in Cold Justice is surprising and yet remarkable. Men who are each other’s yin and yang, a compass of sorts, who share a sexual tension that is delectable, gravitate to one another. With a need for a dark release to absolve themselves of their self-perceived sins and, at the same time, possessing a compassion to care for others, they are absolute magic together with their new “family”. By placing two core Doms and their subs into a unit, Cold Justice is a build-up of epic proportions, setting the stage for what’s to come in The Asylum Fight Club series and creating a force to be reckoned with.

Once again, with Cold Justice Tibby Armstrong and Bianca Sommerland deliver a knockout! The beauty of these authors’ talents is in the way they build the arc and the characters. The Doms are starting to show the kind of men they are and just how far they are willing to go to protect those they love. And the subs are beginning to understand that this is not just a “game” of sexual satisfaction… but a means to protect their very lives.

I have wanted this story for a while, for several reasons. One, I wanted Wren to finally have someone of his own and I really thought Doc would be good for him. Despite his reputation. Two, I wanted to see Doc’s story and find out what makes him tick the way he does. And to see if his reputation was warranted or merely gossip to make subs look better. And after the way one sub acted that caused hurt to Wren, yeah, I think a lot was just to make themselves look better.
I knew a lot of Wren’s story already and if you’ve read these you will too, because his story intertwines with Noah’s. You may not get every detail, but enough that you get the gist of it. But in this story you get it all and find out why Noah has such a tight rein over Wren. And then I felt even more for the boy, because he was betrayed many times. So I understood why Noah’s collar or protection means so much to him. But Wren is starting to desire more, needing more. And he’s starting to set his eyes on one Dom with a bad rep. But what no one seems to get, is Wren is not afraid of Doc. There’s something about Doc that calms him and he sees more than Doc would probably like him too as well. But Doc has some issues of his own. His professional life and the life of the Asylum have crossed dangerous paths now and Doc may lose his profession. On top of it, things at the Asylum are building up again, this time with the subs and it’s not looking pretty. And no one is aware of the danger lurking at any corner. And it’s going to take a lot from everybody to pull things back from the brink they’ve gotten to again, and for it to settle down. And maybe it’s time for it to start back at the beginning with Doc and Noah.
There is so much intertwining in this story. Shew. The pasts of all of them are so messed up, I’m surprised they are walking around with any at all. And because of it all, things are definitely tense. And I can understand that too. Sometimes things are meant one way and taken another when the tension is so thick. And it just builds and builds until it can’t stand the pressure anymore. And it’s been a long time coming from all of them. We saw some in the last book and we are seeing more in this one. And it’s going to take a heck of a lot to get things where they started from. If they can even do that. Because with the way it looks in most of this book, it may not happen. And what pains me, is that two people who finally get to be with someone they’ve needed for so long, is caught up in all this drama because of who they are. I mean, Doc has always and probably will be a hard person. He has high standards and I get that sometimes for some people it’s too much because they feel like they are always being picked on. But because Doc is so tightly bound because of his past, he often comes across harsher than necessary or harsher than he may mean sometimes. Not often. He’s hard for a reason, but at times yes. And Wren finally gets someone who gets him. But with everything collapsing again around them, it’s just too much for everyone and getting ridiculous. I’m hoping with the next book, things will finally start to really and truly settle for good. We will have to see.

Cold Justice tells the story of two of The Asylum Fight Club’s most interesting secondary characters Doc and Wren. Jared “Doc” McCleod is perceived as an over the top sadist. Wren Gibson is a service submissive. They both have secrets. Wren’s could get them all killed. I loved watching Doc and Wren grow together and in turn helping the other Asylum Royals grow closer as well. This is a smoking hot tale with a lot of action thrown in. Good from sizzling cover to cover. You can probably read this standalone but it’s so much better if you’ve read the other books first.

Fantastic read

This one brings the whole series together....you learn so much more about Noah, Jamie as well as Jared and Wren...”sub royalty”...lots of humor and lots of love to go around. It takes a bit to get going as we get the backstories of Jared and Wren....but hang on because once it does...the action and interactions are so well worth it. I really enjoyed this and it helped so much in illuminating the cast of the damaged members of the Asylum...and really seeing their growth and understanding the dynamics. I loved it.

4.5 stars - This story had a different pace in the beginning, one that had me wondering if it and the rest of the series were going to measure up to the first few. Then when the action started, it was like a shot of adrenaline - instant danger. Some of the interactions between the main characters still felt too easy going, too out of character, though that can likely be put down to the fact that the cast is growing and changing, both individually and as units. Regardless, I'm sticking around for the rest of the ride and have already started the next one.

This one brought a lot of the other characters into play, loved all the relationships. This one focused on Doc and Wren. Whole they both have secrets; Wren’s are dangerous and could get him killed. I seriously loved that two. It was an awesome story and cannot wait to read more of the series! I am voluntarily leaving a review form an advanced copy that I received. Fantastic read

The connection everyone has to each other is amazing. The bond they have is even better. Love the way everyone fits and yet is still there own couple. Doc and Wren complete each other in a way no one else could. Noah and Jamie are each other’s other half.

Cold Justice

This book was one of my favorites so far. Wren and Jared, they each found a person who made them feel loved and appreciated for who they are. The characters were wonderfully written. Can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Cold Justice,

Not really my cup of coffee,The Doms are more busy
with each other inside and outside the bedroom.
Their "love"subs/life partners are second fiddle.
oke,to each his own, butt you can't sell such a story
as a "love story".
Doc and Wren are not the main characters and their
story is more about the past with others, than each other.
Too much sex scene`s with different partners, too little build up
to their romance.shame I was looking forward for Doc`s happy.

Doc and Wren. Loved the first half, but the second half had too much introspection to hold my interest. Skimmed last 30%. Definitely could have benefitted from some additional red line edits. Disappointed because I really like these characters. I seem to be in the minority on this one.
C-, no reread

Some disappointments

Liked getting Jared’s story and poor Wren finally getting some attention. The pacing seemed really off, no follow-up for some details and timeframes didn’t always make sense, although logic has to go out the window in these books. Not my favorite and I hope the fractures between the couples get repaired. Still absorbing though.

" [I] would run toward it...and these men. Every. Single. Time."

THIS was my absolute favorite. Getting to experience these Characters in minor rolls throughout books 1-3 only built my anticipation and ended up delivering everything I wanted and more!

Doc and Wren. Doc isn't as scary a Dom as the previous books allude to. Super sweet when it comes to Wren.
