Breach of Faith #4

Breach of Trust

Rate this book

The battle for truth was only the beginning.

Captain James Henry has finally gained what he long desired – redemption. Yet not even his restored military honors and reputation can wipe away the bitter taste in his mouth after fifteen years weighed down by guilt and shame. Whereas others now recognize him as a legitimate hero, all Jim sees when he looks at the man in the mirror is a coward. If he’d stood up for what was right in the first conflict, countless lives would’ve never been lost.

But not even the truth will bring back the dead – or restore a shattered trust.

Before deep-seated betrayal sends Jim to the bottom of another whiskey bottle, the past again rears its ugly head when the Shadow Wolf’s first mate is kidnapped by an unholy enemy alliance. To rescue her from their clutches, Jim swallows his injured pride and accepts assistance from an unlikely source.

One that still reeks with the stench of duplicity.

The fate of Jim’s first mate is sealed when treachery abounds from every galactic quadrant, and her very life is wrenched from her control for a more sinister intent. When captain and crew rush in to extract their comrade, they’ll face down an enemy they never saw coming – and suffer a soul-crushing loss.

Can Jim overcome it all, and save his crew one more time?

Good series.

Good 5 book series. Has a few slow spots in action but I generally liked all of them. Glad to have found this good series.

Another exciting book by these authors't

I've now read the last book in this series, and it was just as engrossing as all the others. Not being much of a Sci fi fan, these books caught me up in their plots and characters. I just couldn't put them down, for want of seeing what was next. I highly recommend all of Daniel Gibbs and Gary Steven's books, whether you like Sci fi or not. I promise you won't regret it.

True old fashioned SciFi

This enjoyable series of stories provides character development and excellent story coherence without trying to overcome the reader with scientific flash. We read to become involved in the events and these deliver . I read them straight thru. Give them a try!

Sixteen years is a long time to be without faith - in the system, in one's associates, in one's self. That was how long James Henry had been drifting lost without a rudder. This novel takes Captain Henry's long sojourn and takes a deep introspective look at the wounds that his heart and spirit sustained from the initial breach of his trust to the recent past campaigns against him and his crew and his ship. That contemplation led to one point - James Henry had to forgive himself for not being perfect, for just being human. That very basic struggle is something I see and deal with daily - I understand the struggle that the author so eloquently portrayed. That means that I very much appreciate what happened with Captain Henry after he won that very personal struggle and I hope, like many other readers, that I too would find a new purpose in my life if I manage to do the same thing. Again, the author manages to create an emotionally moving and poignant and personal thread in an action-packed military thriller worthy of David Weber, Jerry Pournelle and John Ringo.

I received a reading copy from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

There is no pause to accomplish "suspension of disbelief" in any of Daniel Gibbs' superb Science Fiction. Immediately the reader is absorbed into the story, as if we observe, not on a page or on a screen, but as the proverbial "fly on the wall," and even as a "I'm right there, I can almost reach out and touch" participant. From explosive reader's hooks through to taut conclusions, we revel in adventure, science, military strategy, and tactics. The characters will variously wring our emotions, warm our hearts, or in some cases infuriate and anger us. Whichever their effect, we "live" their stories vicariously and in the end, we are better individuals for doing so.

Good vs Evil with a look at what misused technology can happen.

It seems Daniel Gibbs Haas proven God will be alive in the distant future. With first rate action and realistic use of science and technological advancement he spins a story akin to the old west. The background of all the main characters gives insights as to the action and results. He does not cheat but if loss is called for he gives it and uses it as if in real life. If the entire saga is followed it can give you a thoughtful read. Highly recommended for SF and Action fans, and can give some deep thoughts on religious beliefs.

Everything Daniel Gibbs has written to date has been well worth reading. I highly recommend all his work to any reader of SF. Here is a modern author with classic roots. Duty, honor, sacrifice and the triumph of right over greedy, evil enemies - even while recognizing that the enemy is also a complex individual with motivations not so different from our own.

Victory Has Costs

With victory comes the costs and sacrifices people have to give to win. What a great book that shows that and what people can accomplish when they work together and trust in God. Great read. Big D

A great finish to a good adventure

The good guys win, characters grow, stunts work and the most important thing happens, they remain a good crew.

A good read marred by some typos.

The good guys won

A 3rd power group centered on hestia, luisitania, the russians, and the station is forming. The resulting fleet will face more powerful enemies.
I'm anxious to see how the government of hestia decides what political organization it will adopt.
