Sadie doesn't need a fairy godmother to survive her new stepbrother. She needs a miracle. At nineteen, Sadie Crenshaw's life changed overnight. New school. New home. New stepmother. It's no wonder she's having trouble adjusting. But those changes aren't what is causing her the most trouble. No, that would be her brand new stepbrother, Jason Kendrick. Jason is rude, annoying, and hateful-and those are his best qualities. She does her best to avoid him, figuring that's the only way to keep the peace. But, Jason refuses to be ignored. Sadie can't figure out exactly what he does want, but she's pretty sure what he desires most... is her. Lily's back and this time she's giving you her version of a fairytale. You might want to relive your favorite bedtime story, but be warned, these stories might contain a happily ever after, but they also turn up the heat. So, if you're in the mood for a safe, insta-love read with a growl-worthy hero, you're in the right place.
-no cheating -no violence -virgin heroine/ non virgin hero (we get to hear he had his first taste of pu$$y at 16 🙄) -older man/younger woman -just ok epilogue
I had some issues with this story that mostly stemmed from the weird obsession that he had. I get that she's of legal age but he came in to her life so fast it was borderline abusive. It might have been improved if she was independent from her father and chose to move with him.

This was a great read! Sadie is stunned when her dad announces his engagement to his girlfriend Gwen. She doesn't want to move and change schools. And she certainly doesn't want an obnoxious stepbrother. Jase is a complete jerk when they meet. Sadie's life is rocked again when Jase becomes her guardian. She tries to avoid Jase but he has other ideas. The chemistry between Sadie and Jase is intense and Jase is determined to prove they belong together. He knows because she is only 19 he should her go but he can't. She belongs to him now. 5 stars!
"Sadie doesn’t need a fairy godmother to survive her new stepbrother. She needs a miracle." Loved this version of the Cinderella fairytale. Filled with angst, passion, romance, and steam.
This was a cute novella, no angst, and very straight forward!
If you like these themes, then this is for you!
- age gap (H-35, h-19) - instalove - Cinderella themed - some spanking - possessive H - forced proximity
Jason has a strained relationship with his mother, but when she calls to invite him to family dinner to meet her soon to be husband he comes out of curiosity. As soon as he sees Sadie it's an instant attraction and desire to protect and possess her.
Sadie is 19 and still in high school, which the author chalked up as her being held back for sports but I don't quite understand that. Since I'm reading for the entertainment value I kind of just swept it under the rug, but still huh? A little further explanation there would go a long way.
A series of events has Sadie moving in with Jason and from there the magic happens. I won't spoil the rest.
The book had a nice pace to it but could use another editing session. There were a few errors that caused my brain to stutter while I reread the sentence to figure it out. This isn't s major issue but considering it's a novella and less than 100 pages, I feel like it should've been addressed.
2 1/2 stars. I didn’t hate it. It was well written and had a complete storyline. Could have used a proofreader. But I’m not a big fan of the high school girl meets older man troupe and the fact they try to make the high school thing less skeevy by making the h 19 years old didn’t actually help. And who gets held back two years to swim? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. But besides that the H is a dick most of the book. The h is immature and eh. I read the whole thing but seriously doubt I’ll try the next book. Maybe a different one of hers?
He will never be her stepbrother but they will be family if he has anything to say about it
Stroke of Midnight is the first book in the new Happy Endings series by L. Nicole and for the most part I found the story to be nicely done with an interesting OTT story-line. Sadie is a nineteen year old high school senior a couple of months shy of graduation. Her father suddenly announces that he is getting married again to a woman he has only been dating for a month and she has never met. Plus she is to get an older stepbrother who will look out for her and that they will be moving an hour away to live in her house and Sadie will be transferring to a private school. But there is a lot that he neglects to mention in that conversation which Sadie does not come to learn about until later, starting a few nights later at a "family" dinner. Jason is thirty-five years old and is a self made rich man who runs a company he started. He does not have a good relationship with his mother, who he actually calls by her first name, and is quite interested in having Sadie as his "new toy". After all she is beautiful, young and innocent which only brings out the protective and very possessive Alpha male in him. At the dinner Jason quickly insults his mother, Sadie's father and then Sadie. But when she flees and wants to go home Jason is the one to go after her and he is ready to have her call him "Daddy". From there the story takes a very quick turn into OTT territory and never comes back from it. Sadie is innocent like she is prepubescent, Jason is way to domineering even when he keeps saying she is too young for him and that he will have to be easy with her plus her father basically hands her over to Jason without even a word to Sadie.
The one thing that really bothered me was the lack of proofreading. There were a lot of simple errors that I spotted as I was reading and this irked me, especially since I have read the previous books by this author and they did not have this issue. So what should have been a 4 star rating instead is a 3 star. I will continue to read this author and look forward to the next in this series to see where the author takes the reader.
Stroke of Midnight is a quick easy read that puts a new twist on your Prince Charming and wicked Parents.
Sadie is so close to to graduating when her dad decided he is wants his own life and wants to up turn all she knows. Wow talk about confusing.
At dinner to meet the new Step mom she meet Gwen's son Jason. Jason is not a Prince Charming you would see coming with a disdain for his mom, who only calls when she wants more money.
He is strong Alpha that gets what he wants and doesn't take no for an answer. Jason realizes that Sadie has been tossed aside and takes it upon himself be there for her and help her follow her dreams.
Sometimes the people you can count on as the ones you least expect.

I'm rereading this series, I liked this one the first time, liked it even better the second, and really loved it this time around. I gave it 5 stars, when the first time I'd have given it 4 ; this is in part because as I reread the rest in the series, this one remain far above the rest. I've just finished the first 3 of this series in one sitting , and decided I needed to go back and leave this review for a anyone who may have missed this, or possibly read one of the others and thought not to go back to read this if they were disappointed with the later books in the series.... Jason and Sadie are the best couple , and I liked there story the best ( compared to the next book its so much better) Definitely don't miss this one!
This book was my introduction to this author. Her writing style is easy to read, and her characters and plot line was interesting. The story and the characters both held my attention. I liked the passion from Jason and Sadie...most of the time. Sometimes I felt that he was a bully more than an alpha, but that is personal preference, and nothing to do with the story.
This is a quick read, once you start you really want the whole story and will keep going until you are finished. I will definitely be looking up this authors previous work.

Brilliant first book of the series. Sadie’s life has just been turned upside down by her father announcing he is getting married and they are moving also she will now have a brother. Jason turns up for the meal to meet the new family not expecting to see Sadie and then struggles to understand the feelings he has towards her he needs to look after her and that is what he will do. Jason gets Sadie’s dad to agree for him to look after Sadie all her dad wanted was money now she was his Jason needs to get Sadie to understand who she belongs to.
When Sadie is told she's moving when her Dad gets married her world gets thrown up side down. Two months until she graduates and she has to switch schools? Her life is over! Until she meets Jason, her stepbrother? Or Guardian? Handsome and strong willed he makes her thinks things she never thought before. Could he be her prince charming to make her world right again?
This was a quick read with a little bit of a Cinderella flavor to it. I don’t love Sadie’s age of nineteen and the fact that she’s still in high school whereas Jason is thirty-five, but the overall story I enjoyed. I’ll definitely be looking for more books by this author, especially in this Happy Endings series.
And can we just take a moment to appreciate the beautiful book cover? Gorgeous!!

You can read these books truly in any order. They all just revolve around the same thing. Contemporary romance is mixed in with a little bit of fairytale qualities. These are all quick reads, shorter novellas. But sometimes you just need that little shot of happily ever after to give you a smile. I do recommend if you like short and easy romances.
The female character in this story is sweet as sugar but a little clueless and her male character is OTT alpha male and I loved it!! The age difference is fairly large but it works.
I enjoyed Jason & Sadie's story. Good characters. This was a new author for me. And hope to read much more by this author. Great book. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I'm loving these quick and naughty reads from L. Nicole. These stories are perfect for when you want something good and spicy but not a lot of free time on your hands. This author knows how to pack a lot into her novellas.
This was a sweet young women older man story but it was a little too much innocence on the womens side. Cone on she was 19. I think she should have been a little more mature. Over all a good story
This book is part of this author's Happy Endings series and I just l-o-v-e-d reading this g-r-e-a-t romance that even ended in a sweetly satisfying epilogue! Steamy and highly enjoyable!

If you enjoy a stepbrother trope with a little taboo mixed in you will enjoy this story. I tend not to go out of my way to read the whole stepbrother thing but this was rather good and I couldn't put it down.
Wow this book was hot, even their fantasies were hot!!! I still can’t believe the dad dipped out but I guess he wanted to live his life, ohh well. I’m so glad the epilogues included tea cute little baby girl.... yah
3.5 Sadie finds out that her father is remarrying and will get a new stepbrother. Things do not go well when they first meet but what she doesn't know is the moment her saw her Jason was taken with her. The problem is she is 19 and he is 35. Will he be her evil stepbrother or her prince charming?
Sadie and Jason are stepsiblings but he does not see as a sister. He is obsessed with her form the moment he first saw her which leads to some steamy scenes.
