Sam Wu is Not Afraid of ... #5

Sam Wu is Not Afraid of Zombies

Rate this book
There's hardly anything that Sam Wu is afraid of. Unless you count ghosts, sharks, the dark and maybe even spiders. But definitely NOT zombies. Except for actual real ones maybe. So when Sam's arch nemesis, Ralph Zinkerman the Third announces that he has zombie werewolves living in his basement, for the first time ever, Sam really isn't sure if he wants to be the one to save the day. Ralph has always been pretty mean to him and, well, just one little nibble from the zombie werewolves wouldn't hurt that much, would it? Common childhood fears dealt with in a hilarious, sensitive and accessible way.

Great series year 3+ I got to this one first because it was the only one I could get my hands on, but I don’t think it gave too many spoilers away for previous books, so a great series for a library where kids take what they can get.

"Sam Wu Is Not Afraid of Zombies" is the first book we read in the Sam Wu series, and it was a delightful read. Featuring relatable and fun characters, this short adventure follows a group of friends (along with one enemy-turned-friend)as they work together to solve a Zombie Werewolf problem…

The engaging dialogues and age-appropriate plot kept us hooked from start to finish. This charming story is crafted by Kate and Kevin Tsang, creators of the Dragon Realm series, that we absolutely loved. While "Sam Wu" seems targeted at a younger audience, it expertly addresses common fears in a humorous and entertaining way. We can't wait to read more of Sam Wu's lighthearted mishaps and winz.

Sam Wu is such a great series. We actually have a few and did not read them in order, but the books are written so well that you can get the gist of it if you do like us and read them at random.
Sam Wu is great at inspiring friendships and teamwork!

My 6 year old is a HUGE fan of Sam Wu. She has been enjoying the books and giggling away at his wobbly adventures of misunderstandings and childlike imagination.
This time Ralph ASKS SAM for HELP!?
Ok Regina maaaay have had something to do with that as they havent slept in weeks as they suspect a zombie werewolf is trapped in their basement. Sam is terrified but summons up the courage with his friends to investigate the truth… although unfortunately it all goes TERRIBLY and hysterically wrong.
Nathan Reed’s playful illustrations capture both the imagination and awkwardness of being the age of Sam and his friends and Katie & Kevin touch on social worries such as being embarrassed by your family’s differences in a beautifully empathetic yet uplifting way.

Another brilliantly fun book in the Sam Wu series. These books never fail to make me smile! Sam and his gang have to work together to overcome their meanest opposition yet: scary zombies. I loved the plans they came up with! Plus, as ever, the illustrations make me so bloody happy!
