Tim Vicary
89 books419 followersTim Vicary is an author and a recently retired university teacher from the university of York, England. His legal thrillers about a tough British barrister, Sarah Newby, have been compared to the works of John Grisham and Scott Turow. The second book in the series, A Fatal Verdict, was awarded a B.R.A.G Medallion for an outstanding independent novel, and the third book, Bold Counsel, was awarded the Awesome Indies Seal of Excellence. He is currently writing a fourth book in the series, entitled Broken Alibi.
His four historical novels have also won praise. Nobody's Slave, a novel about the Elizabethan slave trade, won first prize in the young adult category of the Kindle Book awards 2014. His three other historical novels, Cat & Mouse, The Blood Upon the Rose, and The Monmouth Summer, are all available individually or as a boxed set of three, entitled Women of Courage.
Tim has also written about twenty much shorter books, graded readers for foreign learners of English, published by Oxford University Press. In 2010 and 2011 two of these - Titanic and The Everest Story - were each the winners in their category for the Language Learner Literature Award for the Extensive Reading Foundation.

Ireland and its history, myths, cities, culture..
Three movies (leap year, hunger, in the name of the father) made me wanna travel to this country, and now this book makes ireland in my top ten countries to visit.
A wondrful imaginary trip to ireland, i really enjoyed it.

Cuốn sách này tuy mỏng nhưng đã mang đến rất nhiều thông tin thú vị và hấp dẫn về đất nước Ireland, mở ra cho mình rất nhiều suy nghĩ về khu vực này. Có ai ngờ một hòn đảo xinh đẹp với những cảnh quan thiên nhiên làm say đắm lòng người (núi, hồ, biển,...) lại cũng đã trải qua những trang sử đẫm máu, thể hiện sự xung đột giữa hai luồng tư tưởng. Một bên là những người Ireland theo đạo Công giáo, đại diện là nhóm IRA (Irish Republican Army), muốn Ireland độc lập khỏi Vương quốc Anh, nhằm gìn giữ trọn vẹn bản sắc văn hóa truyền thống Ireland. Một bên là những người Ireland muốn đất nước mình thuộc về Vương quốc Anh, đa phần là những người theo đạo Tin lành, đã được hưởng lợi tức ở Ireland nhờ sự lên ngôi của đạo Tin lành tại Anh và quá trình Cải cách Tôn giáo bắt nguồn từ thời Vua Henry VIII của Anh.
Xung đột dai dẳng với gốc rễ sâu xa là sự chia rẽ tôn giáo sâu sắc này đã đưa đến những sự kiện đẫm máu tại Ireland cùng cái chết của rất nhiều người vô tội ở cả hai phía. و الانجليز فيما بعد
الجزيرة كانت تعتنق المذهب الكاثوليكي ، و لكن الانجليز كانوا يدعمون المذهب البروتستانتي
الصراع هنا لا علاقة له بالايمان المسيحي
لكن الصراع لتحرير ايرلندا اخذ طابع ديني
حين تمسك من يؤيد بريطانيا ..بمذهبها
و من يريد الجمهورية خاضعين لبابا الكاثوليك
الجزيرة في الماضي كانت طاردة للسكان و تحولت لقسم شمالي يسمى ايرلندا الشمالية يتبع انجلترا
و باقي الجزيرة جمهورية موحدة تعتنق المذهب الكاثوليكي
قامت حركات تحرر تطالب انفصال ايرلندا ، قاومها البروتستانت في ايرلندا الشمالية مطالبين بالحفاظ على الاتحاد بينهم و بين انجلترا
يعرض الكتيب اجزاء من تاريخ دموي هنا و هناك ، حركة شين فين و حركات مضادة
قدم الكتيب شخصيات بارزة فازت بجوائز عالمية ، حكى عن المدن الايرلندية و ما تتمتع به ،
كتاب اضاف لي معلومات لم اكن اعرفها عن ايرلندا
توجد معلومات عن بناء تايتنك في الشمال و مواني و المهاجرين الى ايرلندا
صغير لكنه مفيد لمن لا يعرف شيئا مثلي عن ايرلندا

5. I think the author wanted readres to know about Ireland. Different from story books, this is easy to read, so also easy to know and understand it. Every countries do not have only peace. I think that the author wanted to convey not only peace but also dangerous things such as war.

- No, I haven't. I want to visit there, but I don't have enough money and time.
5. This book is about Ireland. These days I'm reading books about countries because I think it is nice chance to know their culture. This book was interesting, because it talked about music or dance or things like that. In addition, it talked about Irish History(especially wars between Ireland and England) I think it is good to know the history because some of books don't talk about bad things such as wars and fighting. However, this book showed the facts, so I think it is good. As I wrote last book report, there are no explanations about English dialects, so If it were contained that, this book would be more interesting and attractive.

You should read this book if you like to know everything about countries around the world, in this case if you want to know about Ireland. I liked this book ''Ireland'' becouse it talks about many places in Ireland where there are different conditions of life. So it has been very interesting.
