This book is a terrific reference to use in conjunction with a website like knittinghelp.com to learn how to knit. The photos are in color and there is a snapshot of every single step, so that you can easily follow along. All in all, I'd recommend this book to a friend who wanted to learn how to knit, but I'd also tell them to watch how-to video clips on the Internet.

Fantastic, easily portable book for the novice knitter. Learn about the numbers you see on the yarn packaging, the difference between knit and purl, and the pieces to include in your knitting box. The patterns look great and I look forward to trying several after some more practice.

This one is great because it has a simple hat pattern and a dog sweater pattern. North looks like he should be in a J. Crew catalog!

A great price and a good size making it portable when you need to keep it handy for reference.
As for the patterns it provides, I've only used the mitten pattern and it's great!
