Colin: My life is pretty quiet, and I prefer it that way. I do my schoolwork, I have what some would call a nerdy hobby and I have my, um…toys. Tutoring pays the bills, and when I’m asked to help the star football player fix his grades, it’s just another job, right? Then I find out he’s a dragon shifter who likes to party rather than study. God, I wonder if the stories about dragon shifter anatomy are true? Not that I’m likely to find out since he’s clearly straight!
Leon: Being on the football team and belonging to the best frat on campus is great. I get to have fun, and women throw themselves at me. Life was looking good until my team captain found out I was failing a class and hired a nerdy little human tutor to keep me focused and get me back on track. But…It turns out the guy is actually kind of cute...and quite a distraction!
All Colin wants is a quiet life studying and building his models. All Leon wants is to have fun and play football. When the nerd and the jock are thrown together, logic dictates they can’t both have what they desire…or can they?

This book ticks a lot of my boxes but I couldn't help feeling that it lacks something. There wasn't as much drama and action or moments that will wrench your heart out or put a smile on my face. It's not an angsty storyline so for readers who's looking for a light read, this is for you.

I was looking for something that wasn't too deep that I could just get lost for a bit of fun in and it pretty much did that. It certainly didn't reinvent the wheel but it wasn't too bad either.

I loved this book, it was a short story, but it reminded me of my love for shifter love stories, which I've been away from for while now, not sure why 🤔
Love stories between the stereotypical jock/frat guy and the nerdy/geeky guy no one gives a second glance to, always catch my attention, and this one was no different, I was hooked from the very first page.
It didn't have a lot of drama or angst, and the relationship bloomed easily despite a bump here and there. The characters are easygoing and easy to love, plus who wouldn't love a sexy hunk of a dragon shifter with a secret heart of gold and an emotional side?
The epilogue was so cool as well, I really hope the author bring them back in future stories. Now I need to find more romance stories featuring dragon shifters 😁

A short sweet college-aged shifter read.

This was a “straight,” jock, frat boy dragon shifter with a slacker attitude falling for his super smart, nerdy, human gay tutor.
I guess what bothered me the most was the over loading of tropes, some of which worked well with the story, but the shifter aspect seemed just utterly superfluous. In other words, it seemed to be written so the blurb would invite as many readers as possible, even if an aspect added nothing to the story.
On the positive side, from my perspective as a bi man, it handled the sexuality aspect much better than the vast majority of romances I’ve read about heretofore straight identifying men suddenly falling for another man for the first time. (In such a short book with so many themes, there isn’t a huge amount of space devoted to it, but it’s very important plot point. Unlike many straight-to-loving-a-guy-romances, this type of type of character development fits more with the real life experiences I have seen over the decades of many of the men I know who ended up loving a man after being “straight” and primarily/overwhelmingly attracted to and/or only dating women earlier in life.)
A more focused work on a few core themes - jock/nerd, frat/boy tutor, coming out as bi - were stronger and would have been plenty. A Dragon shifter / human coupling is a great idea, but the shifter aspects could use much further exploration to be relevant and compelling (and maybe one or two of the tropes wouldn’t be the focus).
It just made the work feel half way to click customization story rather than interesting itself.

So, this is not really something I would normally pick up for myself but I needed a dragon shifter book for the bingo challenge I'm doing and I'm really glad that this is the one I ended up picking up. I'm not a huge fan of shifters in general (I stick to wolves when I do), and dragons have never been something to interest me. I knew my best shot would be something easy and fluffy and this was just that. Easy, fast and fluffy with a touch of insta love and set in a contemporary world. The shifter stuff was kept to a minimum, I honestly don't even know if it really added anything to the story more than one more trope. The writing was okay. I liked Colin and Leon just fine. Sure, some things might have needed some more page time, but thinking about how short this book is, it's fine.

Not at all what I was expecting. I barely read any of the description for the book, the cover is actually what attracted me to this one. It was fun and the story came together much quicker that I would have imagined. I think I'd read more of this author's work. The ending was actually unexpected, similar to something from Love Actuarially or Nerdy Deeds.

I love dragon stories and Noah Harris wrote a great new book “Jock Blocked”, involving a dragon, Leon and a human, Colin.
Colin was smart, had great grades, as well as cute, and tutored other student when the need arose. He was assigned frat “boy”, Leon, who played football and lived at the Alpha Delta frat house. It’s the frat house known for its parties and most all the gorgeous men on the football team. Colin was selected for Leon because he wasn’t a girl, but he was smart and Leon wouldn’t be distracted by Colin because he was gay.
Leon did love to party and have fun and had not been keeping up with his schoolwork. If he didn’t catch up on past assignments and completed the assignments due, he would fail and be kicked off the football team and college at the same time. Not like Leon wanted to fail, he couldn’t do that to his mother with all she had done as a single human parent raising a dragon son. Leon’s father had died when he was young.
Colin’s first encounter with Leon, Leon was shirtless and all poor Colin could do was stare at the man’s fabulous body. Colin was not easy on Leon and made it perfectly clear that he would help him understand what he didn’t get, help organize his assignment material, but he was not going to do the work for Leon. Leon didn’t like that and fired Colin. When Colin was leaving Pierce, the leader on their team, gave Colin a hard time and Colin stood up to the man and didn’t throw Leon under the bus.
Leon learned to respect Colin for his directness and telling him like it was and that impressed Leon. Through the weeks that Colin tutored Leon, feelings started changing for Leon. He looked at Colin differently, liked his dry sense of humor and thought the man was adorable when flustered. Nothing turned out to be easy as Leon learned he could be bisexual and had developed a connection with Colin. I loved the tiny steps each man took, and how Colin drooled over Leon’s body. Colin was the man who had been hurt in the past and he was trying to believe Leon, a straight man, could find him attractive.
Pierce, a grump, angry team leader, created chaos for both man; humiliated Colin at a frat party; left Leon unbalanced as to how he felt about Colin; and even busted down Colin’s door to get to Leon. Noah did such a great job as he rounded up all the characters and unknown information was brought out to give and excellent ending. And the Epilogue was the best. Honestly, this is a great read and I highly recommend “Jock Blocked”.

Truth be told, I wasn't expecting to enjoy this short storie so much, but I really did. After reading the blurb I was interested, not only it was a new adult (which I'm up to right now) but also about shapeshifters (dragons at that!) + sport romance + jock/nerd trope. How to resist? Easy, you can't.
But by the blurb I expected something different and a little more forced, which was not. In fact, the relationship between these two is well paces and pretty realistic if we take into consideration that their story is too short to get deep into details.
The first book I read by Noah was Running for freedom, one of the author's most recent titles, and I was pleasantly surprised by Joe varied her shapeshifters worlds are. Noah has great skills for creating nice and detailed shapeshifters, and this time was no less.
We have a dragon, a bear, a lion, a wolf and many more, humans included. I loved how different all of them are and how integrated shapeshifters are into human society.
Leon is our jock, a funny guy that loves facing fun and that been neglecting one of his subjects, to the point of risking his scholarship and being part of the football team. Luckily he's not your usual brainless jock: he's sensitive, funny, smart and friendly.
Colin is a solitary nerd that enjoys time alone and that after a bad breakup doesn't want to get into another relationship. He doesn't expect Leon to be Leon to be more that the stereotyped jock guy, but he need the money and decides to accept tutoring him.
Little by little both of them start getting to know each other and the sparks ignites. Their relationship doesn't have many complications, just some misunderstanding before de HEA, and that enoguh to make the story interesting.
I'm kind of sad this is an standalone, I wouldn't mind reading more about some interesting supporting characters or even new ones on this university/universe.
I highly recommend this, and hope you don't discard this after reading the blurb. I don't understand why mention the toys and the dragon anatomy there, I think it gives a wrong impression of how the story will go.

A thoroughly mediocre book. See that cover? With that smiling real person in unrealistic sports gear with a dragon flying behind? That vibe is exactly what you're getting here.
The book starts with an aggressive exposition through, get this, dialogue. Both main characters have way too long conversations with someone about obvious stuff and history they are well aware of and are just really showing info you couldn't care less about down your throat. Anything you might think to ask - family background, appearance, their current situation and hobbies, you get to know this right from the start. I think if they didn't mention shifters, I might have just quit right here and there. It doesn't really approve much, to be fair - other than "oh you have rough skin you must be a dragon" "oh wow, you so clever to notice" it's hardly part of the story or the world. The shifters are also accepted which would be a nice change from the usual oppression but it was just another unremarkable part of this story.
There's kind of a bi-awakening that kind of makes drama but the two of them like each other and it just takes a few tutoring sessions to get them interested. There's sex, plans for a proper date then a "5 years later" epilogue. The End. If it was longer, I probably wouldn't finish.
Like, there's nothing outright wrong - the exposition was draining my will to live but I would classify that as weak not bad writing. But there's nothing to redeem that impression of average-ness. The idea of college and shifters and a jock falling for his tutor (classic but for a reason) could have been something but it was... this. Also, every scene makes it a point to show that the dragon (an exciting species... in any other book) who plays sports is a) smart, b) a secret gardener c) surprisingly shy d) family oriented etc. etc... Like, you base your book on him being jock so you can spend the whole book proving he's not. Makes sense.

The next time he goes he lays down how it needs to be and they start sorting out what is needed to be completed and trying to make a start on the most urgent of them. Colin tells Leon that he should be prepared if the football career he hopes for does not happen for any reason and have the qualifications and alternate career option to fall back on. As they work together the two find the other appealing but Leon dates women so there seems to be only friendship between them.

Romantic! Leon liked being on the football team, botony and being in the Frat! Colin like building models and quiet. His room mates, Sam, wolf, and Lily looked out for him and grounded him. Leon, dragon @ risk of losing his football scholorship due to not meeting academic expectations. Pierce, Team Captain, bear hires Colin to tutor him. Colin is aware of Leon's hotness. He is professional tutoring Leon trying to redirect his study habits. Leon gradually notices Colin as a hot man. Leon makes his move at an inconvenient time that causes a small crisis and causes his team captain, Pierce great consternation. Does Leon resolve the crisis to his and Colin's satisfaction? Is Colin ready for any next steps with Colin? Do Leon and Pierce make up? Engaging story! Great exploring sexuality process handled delicately and well. I absolutely enjoyed this story and liked all the characters, Nate, Lily and Sam! I received an ARC from Boooksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Delightful
I have only one complaint with this book; it’s pacing felt off to me. The story is fairly evenly spaced between the build in the first 50% and then the resolution in the second half. Unfortunately, while I enjoyed the story, it felt like getting to 50% took forever, yet finishing the book happened so quickly that I felt like it only took me an hour.
Having said that, I love how I always find Noah Harris’ characters to be be pretty much perfect. They feel rich, complex, and relatable every time. I love how realistic their choices and logic is - this author truly has a gift for creating characters, and character driven stories.
Colin and Leon were absolutely perfect for each other, despite (or maybe because of) their being completely different. And yet, somehow, those differences clicked.

I was rooting for Colin when he stood up to Pierce. Pierce seriously needed an attitude adjustment - I wanted to kick him in the jewels and that probably wouldn’t have been enough to appease me.
Leon and Colin don’t have an immediate spark but it’s something that gradually develops. Colin spoke freely and honestly and that was something Leon desperately needed in order to sort his life out.
Leon going all dragon towards a certain bear shifter won him some serious points. Leon was sexy, majestic and totally badass in his dragon form yet it was Colin touching his dragon that showed you the start of something special finally happening.

4. 5 stars.. A great dragon novella from the author.
The more I read I loved Colin in this, he sure wasn't a push over especially with a bear and dragon shiftier. Sam was a cool chick poor Pierce to get on the wrong side of her. lol I loved the sexy scenes especially with knotting included although I'm sure Colin would be walking funny for awhile. A great ending with the 5 year time jump for a HEA.
Colin 24 was a collage nerd amongst humans and shiftier students. Lily his cat friend wanted him to find someone for Valentine's day.
Leon was in need of a tutor to get his grades up which his football coach arranges. Although Leon and Colin's first meeting don't go well.

Sweet jock and nerd romance
This book is exactly what you expect to find in the usual low angst jock-nerd romance, with minor variations from shapeshifter aspects.
Being a shapeshifter in this book is not a secret, so no drama here. The homophobic aspect is not big too. The book focuses on the relationship development between 2 MCs. They are both very likable and adorable in their own way. The real sex scene comes toward the end of the book.
I enjoy the book. It is a good comfort read, sweet and fun. However, I would not remember much about this book if not for the dragon shapeshifter thing.

I really did love reading this shifter story about two college guys finding love. Colin the nerdy human meets his match with Leon the dragon shifter football player. Their romance was a slow burn and I like how Leon came to realize it didn't matter that Colin was a man, his growing feelings was all that matters. Nice that the couple had support from their friends.The banter between the two was hilarious and entertaining. Their chemistry once they got together was HOT. A very nice epilogue with a HEA.

I enjoyed they story line, it took a while for me to get invested in the story though. I feel like it dragged a bit the first half of the book and would have loved to see more chemistry built up but the ending was super cute and sweet. The HEA just seemed a bit rushed but all the characters were enjoyable. I just wish I got to to see more of the two after they got together. But it was still a good read for me, but I enjoy stories where the jock falls for the nerd and adding dragon shifters to the mix just made it even better.

This was such a good book. The way the story unfolds with these two is sweet, with humor and cringe worthy moments thrown in. All of this is what makes it such a believable story with exception of the shifters. Noah is so good at giving his characters such great personalities like our nerd Colin. I love this guy and all of his quirks! The jock, Leon, has a great personality even though he is a football star and the guy everyone wants. This is a good book with low angst and some pushy but loving friends/roommates.

I love a long complicated, multi-angle story like the next reader. But a lot of times a fairly straighforward tale is the desire of the day. This story delivers just that in a manner that you really want to read it all in one sitting and its enjoyable. Though there was not direct MPREG, and not really necessary for the storyline - the Epilogue will have you intrigued.

4.5 Stars......I really enjoyed this book. Even thought there was reference to shifters, this book read so much like a contemporary. I felt the book was well written and kept my attention 'til the end. This was an interesting story line and well worth the wait for the HEA. It was a well deserved HEA for both Colin and Leon. Colin and Leon were so cute and good together. Loved their story.

I really liked this story. I found the setting a bit unique. Often, the shifter stories I see are about older shifters in cataclysmic battles or breeding survival dilemmas, so I found it refreshing to find them in an everyday situation, like college. I enjoyed the characters. There are some great friendships, humor and snark, minor drama, sexy times, and slow burn romance. All around great story.

I’d always loved shifter books especially when they are about interesting topics besides the shifter story, and also included human-shifter interactions. This book featured an entertaining nerd-jock love story but with the extra dragon-shifter and some other angst situations for a little spice. I totally loved the idea of someone making a minoring in shifter biology! Wonderful reading!

Surprisingly sweet
I decided to read this because dragon shifters are among my favorite of the shifters. I wasn't expecting all that much just something fun and light but what I got was sweet and "slow burn" and wonderful. These two don't immediately fall into bed together they take the time to really get to know one another and develop a friendship before taking that next step and it made the story cute and a joy to read.

I kind of was taken aback about the shifters ( I don't read descriptions, I just jump into the book). I guess I hadn't noticed the dragon in the upper left corner and thought this was just a jock meets nerd story. Surprise, I liked the twist a lot. Colin and Leon are sweet and charming. The supporting casts were fun--although, Mr Bear shifter was a bit one note for my taste--but effective for the final scene.

Wonderful book and very nice ending. This story about a shifter and a human is new because it's not mpreg and it works very well. Leon and Colin are a cute first time couple. They go through a little trouble but it all works out in the end, I really love how there was closure in this story and the few questions were answered in the end. Pick up a copy, I'm sure you will enjoy it too.
