A Story about Diversity. There are millions of people in this world and we all look different, act different and like different things. We each have tough challenges, individual talents and unique strengths that make us who we are. Your differences may stand out and so might the differences in others, but the world needs them! New ideas, new perspectives, and new actions!
This is a book about diversity. In this day and age we need to teach our youngest children the importance of diversity. This spot teaches kids the benefits of everyone having unique features, ideas, talents and more. He explains through examples how boring it would be if everyone and everything was the same. He makes the point that no matter our differences we all want to be accepted and loved. The author expresses the importance and need for “diverse, idea, perspectives, and talents! I believe that everyone should read this book no matter their age, because this is a lesson everyone needs to learn.
Even if children see and experience diversity, there's no lasting commitment and appreciation for it without the WHY... In this book, Spot does a great job of showing why it's so important and beneficial to be inclusive of all differences. As always, Diane makes meaningful, sometimes challenging, topics accessible and actionable for our little people.
From the author of several other “A Little Spot of…” books, this is a great addition to any classroom and library. “Each person has a special SPOT in this world… what’s yours?” The yellow spot guides a boy and a girl through the many pages that address physical looks, mannerisms, etc. Students may be able to see themselves in some of the illustrations of various people.
All Albers books are fantastic but this is My favorite book yet. I will be ordering the paperback for my kids because the message is so powerful and pictures are super cute.
Another great book by Diane! This is a much-needed story that talks about differences and diversity. A must have on the bookshelves for the Littles in your life.
Adorable and relatable story for kids! It really puts a great “spot”light on how we are different and how important those differences are to acknowledge and accept. I plan to read it to my students to start our school year!
I really enjoyed this story! It has amazing characters and the illustrations are incredible! The rainbow page was my favorite illustration. I loved the activity at the end too!
